  • Sept 5 a Suppose to be a grand opening today of the new flower shop, Hometown, on Main Street
  • Sept 5 a Welcome
  • Sept 5 a We get all excited when Memorial  Day come our way. That holiday means, Summer is here, finally arrived
  • Sept 5 a That's not the case with Labor Day. Yes, there will still be picnics and family get togethers but, it also signals, here comes Winter
  • Sept 5 a This year, it's worser
  • Sept 5 a  Corona is on the up tick. West Virginia has the highest percentage increase in the nation. Predicamenatators are telling us, by year's end, over 400,000 will have died from the virus
  • Sept 5 a The opening of West Virginia schools will add to the virus totals. Even if a few kids return to bricks and mortar, traditional edumacation, it's going to go up in short order.
  • Sept 5 a Our Pentagon is the responsible party. They are the stewards. They're suppose to be looking out for the kids well being even if the kids want to do stuff like play football.
  • Sept 5 a Please take a few minutes and walk over to the Everything Corona page on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper section.
  • Sept 5 a We did notice a slight improvement yesterday. Over at Clay Go Mart yesterday, there was a greeter at the door making sure only five customers were in the place at a time. That's a good move on their part and for us.
  • Sept 5 a Being a county loyal to the impeached King, many refuse to admit, Corona is real. We have many still refusing to wear a mask. Others are saying, Demorats came up with the Corony bug to reduce Drumpf's chance of getting reelected.
  • Sept 5 a That is down right horse poo.
  • Sept 5 a From the Health Dept: A simple face covering is a great way to reduce your risk of spreading CoVID-19. Clay County is known for helping our neighbors. Wearing a mask or face covering  is another way to help protect your neighbors, friends, and family. Remember your mask protects them and their mask protects you! Stay 6 feet apart from non-household members and wash your hands.

  • Sept 4 late p It was a romp for the CHS Panthers tonight. 54 to Zip was the final score
  • Sept 4 late p Don't expect every game to be a walk in the park

  • Sept 4 p  We're starting the last holiday weekend of Summer. For those that work, it's our day off , Labor Day
  • Sept 4 p Weather appears to be cooperating with picnic plans, nice and dry for the three day affair
  • Sept 4 p For those thinking of getting in the Elk, you aught not even think about. The Elk is running hard and at least four feet above Summer pool. Instead of wawa fun, try out ERTS.
  • Sept 4 p One week ago today, Clayberry added 6 more to those contracting Corony
  • Sept 4 p That number has grown again today.
  • Sept 4 p Just part of Jim Justice's road to prosperity, we're at the top of a chart. We now have nearly the highest percentage of Corony growth in the nation. See Everything Corona over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper section
  • Sept 4 p Be safe one and all.
  • Sept 4 p We do have some good news.
  • Sept 4 p Daniel Tanner from Nebo has been working to get his upscale campground open... well, for several years
  • Sept 4p He's done it. Details coming soon.

  • Sept 4 a County Clay went for years without a new business setting up
  • Sept 4 a That all changed this year. Even in the middle of the Corony bug, 8 new businesses opened their doors in 2020.
  • Sept 4 a With the opening this week of the  Something Different store, make that 9 new businesses
  • Sept 4 a Located in the old Starcher Furniture Store building on Main Street, who would of ever thunk, CBD sales here in the  outback.  As late as 2019, people thought, CBD extract of hemp amounted to the use of pot.
  • Sept 4 a It isn't, as the Ace Cub Reporter found out in early 2019. For him, CDC ointment is immediate relief to the pains of arthritis.
  • Sept 4 a We'll do a write up next week on Casey Brown's Something Different store but until then, you aught to check out the new business on Main Street which is open Monday thru Saturday.  If no one has said it, Welcome
  • Sept 4 a We didn't think it would happen this Fall and we still think it's a very bad idea, but tonight, the Clay High Football season opens over in Barbour County
  • Sept 4 a There's some confusion on the kick off time. The official schedule reports, kick off comes at 7:30pm. But, Phillip Barbour  starts all their games at 7pm
  • Sept 4 a No matter which, not for profit 101.7FM will be ready for the sportscast tonight.
  • Sept 4 a Looks like the weather is going to cooperate too. Dry with temps dropping into the 60's.
  • Sept 4 a WYAP's service area amounts to about five miles in each direction from their Two Run location. Why not make it a party, a tail gate party, by setting your radio to 101.7 FM and park in the Two Run Area to hear the action live.
  • Sept 4 a For those afar... more than five miles away, tune in via the internet or cellphone
  • Sept 4 a For your lap top or PC, type in tunein.com and once you get there, type in wyap. That's all you have to do. Don't fall for their effort to get you to sign up or pay money. That's not needed
  • Sept 4 a For those using a cell phone, use the simple radio ap which is a no charge program.
  • Sept 4 a To get all the games on, WYAP is still needs 5 more sponsors to make it happen. Sponsors get their name or company name mentioned four times during each sportscast plus during normal programing.
  • Sept 4 a Interested? Drop off your $50 donation to Clay Auto Parts by noon today.
  • Sept 4 a Go Panthers!!

  • Sept p About as soon as we posted the Flash Flood Watch this morning, the sun came out. Don't let that fool ya. Keep a sharp eye out for those small creeks overflowing their banks
  • Sept 3 p One guy asked us, can politicians advertise on the local radio station during football season.
  • Sept 3 p The answer is Yes. Keep in mind, as a non profit radio station, they can't say stuff like, world's great candidate or make any kind of endorsement.
  • Sept 3 p Those ads (sponsorship actually) can say, the name, office seeking, party affiliation, and some kind of campaign jungle.
  • Sept 3 p Interested? Email the info or drop it off over at Clay Auto Parts or slide it thru the mail slot at the station, 2278 Main Street.

  • Sept 3 a FLASH FLOOD WATCH thru this evening:  Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will affect the  region today with periods of heavy rain likely. Rainfall amounts  of one to two inches are expected in the Flash Flood Watch area,   with locally higher amounts where thunderstorms pass repeatedly over the same location. Due to the saturated ground in many areas,  there is an increased potential that the heavy rainfall will lead to flash flooding of small creeks and streams and poor draining urban areas.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to  Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation. You  should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
  • Sept 3 a Be careful out there clickers. The Elk is already running high and muddy.

  • Sept 2 p Just posted over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper section is the coverage from last night's Town Council meeting. One of the topics covered is a proposed 25% Log Factory rate increase.
  • Sept 2 p Need a job? See the JOBS page today.

  • Sept 2 a We have something important this morning
  • Sept 2 a Gov Justice has ordered, no fans may attend football games this season. There is an exception which is, immediate family members.   That leaves an awful lot of supporters minus a way to partake the Panthers action.
  • Sept 2 a You could press your nose against a fence or maybe bring a lawn chair and sit in the grave yard. But, other than the PA announcements, it's not much in the way of coverage
  • Sept 2 a During the last 20 years, non profit WYAP FM radio has aired the contests in real time. For most of that time TG Griffith has been behind the mic providing play by play and commentary like none other.
  • Sept 2 a This year having 101.7FM doing sportscasts, it's never been more important
  • Sept 2 a YAP radio is seeking sponsor to make the game possible. Their asking price for a sponsorship is $50 for the entire season.
  • Sept 2 a Schools are taking a hit with little to no concession sales nor ticket fees.
  • Sept 2 a They still have to pay the officials too
  • Sept 2 a Being creative, like Phillip Barbor High School, our first game of the season, those folks have decided to charge radio stations, even non profit stations, a new fee to broadcast the contest. For Phillip Barbor, that' an additional $75 cost YAP was not expecting.
  • Sept 2 a WYAP struggles to stay afloat in a good year. 2020  has not been a good year.
  • Sept 2 a IF you can help them out, you can drop off your sponsorship $$$ over at Clay Auto Parts or slide it thru the mail slot at the station, 2278 Main Street.
  • Sept 2 a Go Panthers!
  • Sept 2 a We have a new posting over on the ERTS page of the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE.
  • Sept 2 a As a teaser, the Town of Clay plans to raise sewer rates 25%. The first vote should come in October.
  • Sept 2 a Full write up later today.

  • Sept 1 p Got some news!
  • Sept 1 p According to Greg Fitzwater, the Guard came in Sunday afternoon and  sanitized both Courthouses. They used  like a spray bomb after sealing up each room.
  • Sept 1 p Both Courthouses are back open for business today
  • Sept 1 p Got some not so good news too
  • Sept 1 p Lisa Slack was the Courthouse employee that contracted the Corony Bug  last week
  • Sept 1 p It's our understanding, she was transported to a hospital over the weekend and is on oxygen now.
  • Sept 1 p Prayers are in order for Lisa.
  • Sept 1 p We have lengthy coverage on the most recent County Commission meeting over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper section. Darn good reading with lots of juicy details.

  • Sept 1 early a Charles W. Ghee 96, see OBITUARY page
  • Sept 1 early a DSL and tele service went South for a big portion of Monday. Service came back on late in the afternoon. While it was down, the Ace Cub Reporter skedaddled the county.
  • Sept 1 early a Sorry for the lack of postings Monday
  • Sept 1 early a Got an email from The Hub restaurant on Main Street. They're having a Lasagna Special during lunch today. $10 is the asking price. Get away from those chicken beak and butt hole hot dogs and try out something different.
  • Sept 1 early a IF the DSL holds out, we've got a couple interesting articles coming your way later today.
  • Sept 1 early a Town Council will convene their monthly meeting today beginning at 5:30 in Town Hall, AKA WaWa Plant building
  • Sept 1 early Instead of their annual general membership, the CAEZ is holding a regular meeting tonight beginning at 6pm via ZOOM. It's still a public meeting but you've got to contact Office Manager Michelle Bodkins to get the link and password for the gathering.
  • Sept 1 early a The Clay Fire Dept responded to Bullard's Exxon in Maysel, last night. Sounded like a vehicle rolled down a hill and hit a gas pump. Crews had wrapped up their operation around 10pm last night. We hope to get pictures today.
  • Sept 1 early a  Talking about pictures, the Mel Gibson look alike received a replacement camera  today in the mail
  • Sept 1 early a He's getting it set up now and hopefully, crispy clear pics will return to Clayberry and the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE reaal soon.

  • Aug 30 a Need a job? See JOBS page today
  • Aug 30 a Suppose to be a sunny time today. For outdoor fun, you might want to try out the newest portion of ERTS. About 3.25+ miles between Pisgah and the Hartland bridge has the top coat trail covering in place and smooth as a baby's butt. A round trip hike or bike ride would make for a wonderful afternoon fun time.

  • Aug 30 early a We've had a very crappy week in Clayberry
  • Aug 30 early a  We had a second person, and elderly man, succumb to Corona
  • Aug 30 early a Monday night, the Pentagon acted like jerks to one of their very own, Kenneth Tanner
  • Aug 30 early a During Wed's County Commission, discussion turned to advancing a new ordinance to remove property owner rights in an attempt to rid our 342 square miles of junk cars, old trucks, and salvage materials. We call that a zoning ordinance
  • Aug 30 early a Other than where the front door mandates use of face masks, the wearing of such is non existent
  • Aug 30 early a We had 6 brand new cases of Corona all in one day. See EVERYTHING CORONA over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper section of this site.
  • Aug 30 early a Then there's the Gov's fuzzy math color code chart that makes it impossible for the smallest counties to EVER have a realistic picture of the outbreak. Like Regan's voodoo economics, this voodoo math in the Trumpian era is sadly lacking in reality.
  • Aug 30 early a Friday night, early Saturday morning, many in the county woke up to no power or tele service.
  • Aug 30 early a  Other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?
  • Aug 30 early a For the Ace Cub Reporter, his Olympus E-510 camera has been on the fritz for three weeks, nothing but out of focus pics in every direction. He finally found a replacement unit online with a delivery date expected on Tuesday.
  • Aug 30 early a It's not that the E-510 is a superior camera.. he's just too lazy to try and learn some other brand and operation.
  • Aug 30 early a  Wear your Mask and Sanitize your hands. That's what the Gov tells us to do
  • Aug 30 early a There should be one more precaution.
  • Aug 30 early a That is:Virtual School or Home School or Private School for all.
  • Aug 14 p   The Gov's PR piece came today around 11:30am. He made no changes to the bricks and mortar schools start date Sept 8th. He did say everything is subject to change at a moments notice.
  • Aug 14 p Reference was made to the 100,000 school kids testing positive in the last two weeks, since many schools across the nation, reopened
  • Aug 14 p Will there be football this Fall, will they switch us to an all virtual school day? Still no answers were given by the Gov
  • Aug 14 p He did say he would be meeting with the W Va athletic conference (WVSSAC) this afternoon.
  • Aug 14 p We can't help but believe, there will be no fans at ballgames and for that matter, it's hard to imagine having ANY contact sports this Fall.
  • Aug 14 p Those decisions if at all, have not been made public as of 11:40 this morning.
  • Aug 14 p Truth is, football is a real money maker for high schools. From ticket sales to hot dogs, t shirt sales, if no fans can enter the field, schools cannot afford to hold the games.
  • Aug 14 p Switching gears....
  • Aug 14 p County Commission voted Wed morning to add an Excess Levy vote to the Nov ballot
  • Aug 14 p If accepted by 61% of the voters, those new excess dollars would be used to fund fire departments and the Clay Ambulance Service.
  • Aug 14 p Full write up is now posted over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper section.
  • Aug 14 p River Report: The Elk is emerald green as we write this post and perfect for wawa activties.
  • Aug 14 p If you're coming to Clayberry for fishin, boatin, wading, kayaking, horseback riding, don't be a dumbarss, wear a mask.

  • Aug 14 early a If you keep up with the news, you know the Impeached King is working his magic to slow down US mail services. Emphasis is put on slowing down election ballots.
  • Aug 14 early a West Virginia allows mail in ballots for any and all due to the out  of control, Corony bug. Back in the Spring, every voter was mailed a request for a ballot. The response was huge. The number of mail in ballots increased participation rates bigly. With our Republicrap Sec of State, maybe a little too many people, Demorats mostly, for his liking.
  • Aug 14 early a With Drump's hockus pokus in the works for the General Election, you have to use the tele and make the request for a ballot.
  • Aug 14 early a It's easy. Just call the County Clerk's office as quick as you can and make your request ASAP
  • Aug 14 early a The number for the Clerk's office is 304 587 4259. It's that easy
  • Aug 14 early a Soon, the paperwork will arrive in the mail and you're set to receive a ballot when available.
  • Aug 14 early a Hey, there's new cairns on the ERTS page over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper section
  • Aug 14 early a Plus, we've got some new info and pics on the Standing Rock Tunnel on ERTS.
  • Aug 14 early a How many of you are using hand sanitizers at every chance?
  • Aug 14 early a Read this: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning of another potentially dangerous substance in some hand sanitizers. Certain products — including those made by Harmonic Nature in Mexico — were found to be contaminated with 1-propanol, which can be toxic and life-threatening when ingested, according to the federal agency. Here's the full read.

  • Aug 13 p We forgot to mention this morning, Clay Roane PSD will hold their Board meeting tonight beginning at 6:30pm. The meeting agenda is posted over on the ADVISORY page. It includes a vote to raise wages.

  • Aug 13 a Clayberry was divided up between 2 Legislative districts after the last US Census. A Southern portion of the county lies in House of Delegates district 34. Delegate Margaret Staggers represents those Clayonians at the Gold Dome.
  • Aug 13 a Delegate Staggers is now suffering from the Corony bug.
  • Aug 13 a See the EVERYTHING CORONA  update over on COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper section.
  • Aug 13 a Our Chief Republicrap, Gov Jim, is still waiting on info to determine when the Corona bug is bad enough to require schools to shut down.
  • Aug 13 a Of course, the correct answer is right now.

  • Aug 12 p  Carolyn Sue Randolph Pearson, 65, see OBITUARY page
  • Aug 12 p The Cherokee County School District in Georgia reported Monday that 826 students are in quarantine due to possible exposure to Covid-19. The school returned to in-person learning on Aug. 3. According to a chart from the district, 42 staff members are in quarantine.   Thirty-eight students and 12 staff members have been tested positive for the virus, according to the district's website.
  • Aug 12 p We have our coverage from this week's Pentagon meeting over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper page. Got kids in the school system? Better read that article.
  • Aug 12 p Been watching those baseball games on the boob tube?
  • Aug 12 p Without fans in the place, it's not so much fun to watch is it?
  • Aug 12 p  After a coaches meeting earlier this week, word on the street has it, fans will not be allowed in at CHS football games.
  • Aug 12 p We keep hearing tidbits on some far right Qanon organization
  • Aug 12 p Ever wonder what that's all about?
  • Aug 12 p Here goes: QAnon is a wide-ranging, unfounded conspiracy theory that says that Donald Trump is waging a secret war against elite Satan-worshipping paedophiles in government, business and the media.   QAnon believers have speculated that this fight will lead to a day of reckoning where prominent people such as Hillary Clinton will be arrested and executed. Here's the full write up .
  • Aug 12 p Sound pretty far fetched? Dimly lit voters in Georgia just voted in favor of such a knuckle drager.

  • Aug 10 a There's a couple important public meetings tonight.
  • Aug 10 a  The Business Development Authority convenes their monthly gathering at 6:30 tonight
  • Aug 10 a On their agenda is mention of the Swinging Bridge In Elkhearst.
  • Aug 10 a In month's past, there has been speculation that the Elk River Foundation might take over ownership from the DOT and replace the span as a tourism draw.
  • Aug 10 a Also on the agenda is an update on the ERTS State Park
  • Aug 10 a With schools planned to reopen in less than one month, maybe most important tonight is the School Board meeting. That meeting agenda includes lots of new hires and transfer of employee.
  • Aug 10 a Lacking is any mention of the Corona bug, Corona changes, the Gov new mandates....
  • Aug 10 a  For parents, it might be a good chance to get some answers on keeping kids at home, will the Pentagon provide lap tops, what's all the talk about providing "cell phone hot spots",  what happens when a kid gets Corona.... and anything else important.
  •

  • Aug 9 p We've done a little streamlining over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper page. Now, everything Corony related and ERTS will appear at the top of the page. Should make for much easier reading.
  • Aug 9 p Nearly 100,000 kids have tested positive for Corony in the last two weeks. See EVERYTHING CORONA for the full article.
  • Aug 9 p For those living out of state, writer Phil Kabler does a great job keeping us informed of Gold Dome crapola. Here's his most recent article on brother Jim Justice and more.

  • Aug 8 p Saw something new on ERTS this morning. Horse drawn carts were on hand for a morning of great fun. Walk over to the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper page to see the future of Clayberry
  • Aug 8 p Also, stay over there and see the new additions on the Cairns of Clay  article. They're growing weekly!

  • Aug 7 p While we're sitting here counting pennies and trying stretch wallets,   Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth passed $100 billion for the first time Thursday after Facebook Inc. hit a record on optimism about the release of its TikTok competitor Reels. The 36-year-old joins fellow tech titans Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates as the only people in the world who currently have centibillionaire status, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
  • Aug 7 p Now, don't you feel better about yourself?
  • Aug 7 p A New York judge knocked down President Donald Trump's bid to delay a lawsuit from a woman who accused him of rape, ruling in a decision released Thursday that the presidency doesn't shield him from the case.
  • Aug 7 p We've updated the EVERYTHING CORONA section over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper page.

  • Aug 7 a It's overcast this morning and there is a 30% chance of wet stuff.
  • Aug 7 a But, if we can make it thru today, County Clay is looking at 3 solid days of Summer temps and dry weather. This should be a prime weekend for Summer fun in Clayberry.
  • Aug 7 a We've seen all kinds of bikers and hikers on ERTS
  • Aug 7 a So far, we haven't seen any horseback riders or horse drawn carts on the 22 mile fun strip
  • Aug 7 a It's our understanding, that's about to change this weekend with a couple equestrians  coming to ERTS
  • Aug 7 a Work continued this week in the Hartland area along ERTS.
  • Aug 7 a After busting thru the brush under the span, crews worked going up Middle Creek removing the rails and ties. In Hartland, the workers have made it down to the AEP transmission station.
  • Aug 7 a Complete coverage from this week's Clay Town Council meeting over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper page. Enjoy
  • Aug 7 a We've got a couple Yak livery services in the County. Both appear to be going great guns
  • Aug 7 a What we're lacking is someone to step into the gamble and set up a bicycle rental / livery service along ERTS.
  • Aug 7 a The opportunity is here and now before the Fall Colors show in mid Oct. The Dundon or Pisgah bridge neighborhoods would make for great locations for such an operation.
  • Aug 7 a Purchasing a dozen used bikes will be costly but couple that service with a place to buy drinks, munchies and flat fixin, chain repair, and trinket shop, the sky's the limit. Having a few snowboards available for Winter adventurers wouldn't be a bad idea either!
  • Aug 7 a  River Alert: Up near Sutton, the Elk was starting to look a little muddy yesterday. Still completely navigable, the Elk may not have its beautiful emerald green sheen this weekend.

  • Aug 6 p During the last 11 days, in the U S of A, over 1000 Americans have died each day.
  • Aug 6 p On Wednesday alone, 1400+ died in this country from Corony.

  • Aug 6 a Have you been tested for corony? Testing is progress right now. See EVENTS page for details
  • Aug 6 a  The eyebrow raising coverage from the recent CAEZ meeting is now posted over on the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE page.
  • Aug 6 a Did you know, the CAEZ is NOT a non profit organization? Read the article for more

  • Aug 6 early early a How about a good part time bookkeeping job? See JOBS page right away
  • Aug 6 early early a Each election cycle we encouraged all candidates seeking office to email over a few paragraphs and a mug shot. The announcement is a free service of Delta Communication.
  • Aug 6 early early a  Downtown Clay's Small Town Market opened right at the beginning of the Corony Bug pandemic. There couldn't have been a worse time to start a new business. But, they are prospering. From the Market:  We’ve hired three new dependable staff members that will now allow us to be able to extend store hours. Starting August 10 our new store hours will be as follows:   Monday through Friday: 9 am to 8 pm; Saturday: 9am to 6 pm;   Sunday: 12 to 5 pm   We are also going to be running a Sunday Spotlight Sale for the foreseeable future. Every Sunday we will slash prices on a certain product ( for example: the last two Sundays we sold ground beef for only 2.19/lb).
  • Aug 6 early early a  We're working on the coverage from Tuesday night's CAEZ meeting. AS a hype and before we get everything typed up....
  • Aug 6 early early a That non profit agency has struggled financially for years. During the last five years or so, we have not heard CAEZ receiving any kind of free grant $$$
  • Aug 6 early early a During the Aug 4th meeting, it was revealed, the CAEZ has lost their 501 non profit status from the IRS
  • Aug 6 early early a   Full details in the write up.

  • Aug 5 p If you want to know where all the Fed dollars (corona) are going, click here

  • Aug 5 p In between the tirades, we learned a bunch about his school reopening plan including  a color coded, how to get sports back on track.
  • Aug 5 p We've had groups, committees, trying for years to get decent DSL service in the outback. Today, the Gov's speech included, setting up 1000 hot spots around the state and providing every kid a laptop for retrieving and sending school assignments. Problem solved
  • Aug 5 p The link to that speech and all the other Corony bug stuff can be found on the Everything Corona section of the COMMUNICATOR ONLINE newspaper page

  • Aug 5 a The Gov's announcement has been rescheduled for 1pm today
  • Aug 5 a You can listen in live via WV Metro News.
  • Aug 5 a The local Health Dept is offering free Corony bug testing tomorrow. Now more than ever, it's time to get tested. See EVENTS page for details
