December 2011

  • Dec 31 a We've done it. Another year is just about buttoned up.
  • Dec 31 a Does anyone even remember their resolutions made a year ago?
  • Dec 31 a Big dance tonight over at the Senior Center. Not to be outdone by New York City, the glowing in radiant colors, Clayberry ball drops at midnight. Everyone's invited and no cover charge
  • Dec 31 a Talking TV heads have short memories. There's now nothing but glowing reports on Newt Gingrich. His ethics in the US Congress is less than stellar.
  • Dec 31 a  In addition to getting sanctioned, ole Newt was one of those Republicrats that orchestrated tax breaks to the top 1% of America.
  • Dec 31 a One of the Newt's big claims is he balanced the budget in the mid 90's. There's a lot more to it than that.
  • Dec 31 a Happy New Year to one and all.
  • Dec 31 a Nephophobia means the Fear of clouds
  • Dec 31 a Shipshape definition: Arranged in a manner befitting a ship; hence, trim; tidy; orderly
  • Dec 30 p Jimmy Ray Keith, 63, of Bickmore, ee OBITUARY page
  • Dec 29 late p Yelp, we know it's not holiday time and postings are few and far between but Thursday morning the Frontier download speed was 39 and upload snail speed was a whopping 19.
  • Dec 29 late p Thinking if we waited until this evening it would be better than dial up, WRONG. At 10pm Frontier's DSL was coming in an anemic 112 down and 63 up.
  • Dec 29 late p Sure there are bigger problems in the land of little, but at $60 per month, it's no wonder the county is always sucking the hind teat.
  • Dec 29 late p Walk over to the ADVISORY page for the complete listing of Frontier's  speed tests for Maysel.
  • Dec 29 late p For those that have any kind of DSL speed, here's a darn cool owl attacking a video camera video.
  • Dec 29 late p The Green Shirts are moving North to Big Otter. Their new tele number is 304 286-3185. The old 587 number will be disconnected in a week or so.
  • Dec 29 late p Their new mailing address is 5650 Big Otter Highway .
  • Dec 29  late p They've got a new anonymous Clayberry snitch line to report bad stuff going on like druggies at work. That email address is claydetcmdr.wvsp.state.wv.us.
  • Dec 29 late p Thinking back on 2011, here's a video line up of some of the famous folks we lost in 2011.
  • Dec 29 late p New 2011 laws include: In New Hampshire, a law requiring girls seeking abortions to tell their parents or a judge first was reinstated by conservative Republicans over a gubernatorial veto. The state enacted a similar law eight years ago, but it was never enforced following a series of lawsuits.
  • Dec 29 late p A new California law will add gays and lesbians and people with disabilities to the list of social and ethnic groups whose contributions must be taught in history lessons in public schools.
  • Dec 29 late p Florida will take control of lunch and other school food programs from the federal government, allowing the state to put more Florida-grown fresh fruit and vegetables on school menus. Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam says the change will help children eat healthier.
  • Dec 29 late p Did you know there is an online West Virginia Encyclopedia? Free too.
  • Dec 29 a Clay County's locally owned and operated newspaper of choice made it to the news stands yesterday afternoon. Loaded with community news and views, the lead story covers the continuing problem of meth labs in Clayberry.
  • Dec 29 a Wed afternoon the County Commission held a public hearing seeking input on new voting lines and boundaries. Only one person showed up. Larry Darryl and Darryl plan to make the plan official with a vote on Jan 3rd.
  • Dec 29 a Once implemented, redistricting will affect those seeking office for the next 10 years.
  • Dec 29 a Delegate Dave Walker's Legislative Update column is now posted over on the ADVISORY page
  • Dec 29 a Shine up the dancing shoes and ge ready for WYAP's annual New Year's Eve Dance. Details on the EVENTS page.
  • Dec 29  a Need a  babysitter? See JOBS page
  • Dec 29 a  Can you unstick pasta when it becomes glued together after you drain it?
  • Dec 29 a  The best way to do this is to plunge it quickly into boiling water, to which you've added a tablespoon of oil or butter. Then drain again, and it should come unstuck. If this is a continual problem for you, try adding oil or butter to the water as it boils the first time.
  • Dec 29 a On this date, in 1930, Fred Newton became the first and only person to swim the length of the Mississippi River. It took him about six months to cover the 1,826 miles from Minnesota to New Orleans. He was in the water for 742 hours and was protected from the cold water by a layer of axle grease on his body
  • Dec 29 a On this date in 1936, Mary Tyler Moore  was born
  • Dec 29 a On this date, in 1947, Ted Danson was born
  • Dec 27 late p County Commission meets Wed morning at 10am
  • Dec 27 late p  At 1pm Larry Darryl and Darryl are hosting a public meeting to explain changes in voting precincts and districts. Like voting to or from work? How about close by voting places. Better attend the 1pm meeting to see what they're up to.
  • Dec 27 late p No updates until we get the Communicator out the door Wed afternoon.
  • Dec 27 a It felt good to  have a few days off to spend with family and friends. Even without snow on the ground, the staff of Delta Communications hopes your holiday season was a good one. Each of us are five pounds heavier stuffed full of fudge, brownies, cookies and more.

  • Dec 27 a Clay County's longest running locally owned and operated newspaper, The Communicator comes out Wed afternoon.
  • Dec 27 a It's time to email over your chatters, events, and such. Deadline is today at 5pm
  • Dec 25 a We told you we wouldn't be posting today... now didn't we.
  • Dec 25 a For you die hard clickers, a posting
  • Dec 25 a Happy Birthday wishes to a  Christmas baby just a few years back, none other than Mary Workman
  • Dec 24 a We're out of here for a couple days.
  • Dec 24 a Enjoy your family and this time of year
  • Dec 24 a The best of holiday wishes to you and yours
  • Dec 23 a School's out for the kids. Teachers call it quits around noon today. Many at the Courthouse are already off today. Most of the shopping is done. There's fudge and cookies on the stove. Older kids are in from college or jobs from afar. It's the one time, the one holiday, that mellows the family.
  • Dec 23 a It's Christmas time.
  • Dec 23 a From Delta Communications, we wish you the best in holiday wishes. If you think posts have been slow the last few days, it's going to get worse. We're taking a few days off .
  • Dec 23 a Before we go...
  • Dec 23 a The School Excess Levy election media blitz is on. At every opportunity, anywhere there's an ear to bend, Pentagon leaders are proclaiming, every pencil, every slice of bread was paid for by the Excess Levy. Last night during the CHS Christmas Concert, yelp, all the shiny new instruments were paid for by the Excess budget.
  • Dec 23 a WHile that may be true, after you have so much stuffed down your throat you start gagging just a bit.     Heck, if it wasn't for the Levy, the world as we know it would end.
  • Dec 23 a What they're not saying or even admitting to is, your taxes will go down if the Levy fails Jan 28th; the school system made it just fine for over a 100 years without a Levy; even band instruments were on hand before they started digging deeper in our wallets; and, the statewide trend is , more Levy votes are failing than passing these days.
  • Dec 23 a As America withers during this depression, we're asking govt agency's to tighten their own budgets.
  • Dec 23 a A Yes vote amounts to an endorsement of some of the worst test scores in the nation; continuing a top heavy Pentagon Staff; and, all the backdoor actions and decisions made by the School Board.
  • Dec 23 a Maybe the most important floater from this week's Buffalo Creek and Gauley RR meeting held over at the campground was, when asked, CAEZ Director Connie Lupardus was asked if she was willing to enter into a signed contract, agreement, lease, with the BC&G group. Her answer was No.
  • Dec 23 a  A little later, that answer was modified a bit to include possibilities after her agency meets with BC&G reps sometime after the holidays.   No was the answer and is one of the big stumbling blocks for the BC&G campground operation. That's what they've been up against for five years.
  • Dec 23 a Merry Christmas clickers wherever you are.
  • Dec 22 a This is it for the little brats, the last of school before Christmas. They are climbing the walls!
  • Dec 22 a Folks over at Clay High are pretty miserable when it comes to advertising good events  but tonight's  there's a big band concert in the mini auditorium.
  • Dec 22 a The official CHS Basketball schedule shows a game for tonight. That match up is rescheduled for next Tuesday. On the 27th, there's actually two junior varsity and two varsity games at CHS. A great time to show support for the winning Panther and Lady Panther teams.
  • Dec 22 a Here's our update on the Green Shirts leaving their Maysel digs and heading for their new mountain side resort:  The West Virginia State Police will be relocating our office from the current location in Maysel to the the new place in Big Otter. It is located on the east side of WV Route 16, approximately .5 mile south of the Big Otter Go Mart and will be operational by Friday 12/23/2011, but in any event no later than Saturday, 12/31/2011. The phone number, (304)587-2201, will remain the same until further notice.
  • Dec 22 a Delegate Dave Walker attended Monday night's School Bd meeting. During the long secret time Dave wanted the world to know he's working on the now stalled again replacement of the Hartland bridge. Walker says there's a meeting scheduled on Jan 3rd at 1pm in Bldg 5, Room 122 of the State Capitol complex where questions can be asked. All are invited to the meet.
  • Dec 21 a Right now it's 60 degrees in County Clay but, there is a certain feel of change in the air. Rains a comin' and there's a chance of snow for Christmas.
  • Dec 21 a Last night the Lady Panthers put it all over Calhoun County, 68 to 15 in home court action over at Clay High.
  • Dec 21 a All the Clayberry inmates up at Central Regional Jail are feeling down today. They're bummed out big time.
  • Dec 21 a Tuesday afternoon, Commissioner Slinky handed King's Wrecker Service a check amounting to $7640, the amounted needed to satisfy the Court and keep Prosecutor Jim Samples from heading to the slammer for Christmas.
  • Dec 21 a No need to take up a Dremel tool collection.
  • Dec 21 a Background: The for-profit Buffalo Creek and Gauley Railroad Co-Op operates the county's only public campground which is located at Dundon. In 2011, after expenses, the group lost money on the much needed facility.
  • Dec 21 a Also from Tuesday, the BC&G folks gathered for two hours deciding the fate of their campground operation. After lengthy discussion, instead of an up or down vote, the collective agreed to meet with Central Appalachian Empowerment Zone (CAEZ) reps and come up with a decision before Jan 7th.
  • Dec 21 a Jan 7th is the next meeting of the entire BC&G organization.
  • Dec 21 a In attendance yesterday was CAEZ Director Connie Lupardus. During her presentation, much time was spent defending her performance and the big strides already accomplished for the BC&G group.
  • Dec 21 a During the last several years, the CAEZ directed and long stalled campground sewer system and lodge building projects have been on again followed by off.    One month everything's a go followed 30 days later with, Ah Gee, it's time to start over again.
  • Dec 21 a Yesterday, Ms Lupardus told the dozen of so in attendance, Yelp, the sewer system permits are all in order and work will begin shortly. Ditto for the Lodge building with CHS students ready to provide the labor for inside remodeling and electrical installation.
  • Dec 21 a Hope her words hold true this time.
  • Dec 21 a Applause awaits success - Ben Franklin
  • Dec 21 a An investment in knowledge pays the best interest - Ben Franklin
  • Dec 21 a The county's tourism business needs the campground in the worst way.
  • Dec 21 a The countdown begins. One year from today  a massive cellestrial object is suppose to strike the earth or at least, its near miss space quake, will destroy life as we know it.
  • Dec 21 a The clock is ticking.
  • Dec 19 p Monday afternoon Judge Jack Alsop ordered Prosecutor Jim Samples to pay King's Wrecker over $7000 in towing and storage bills or face going to Central Regional Jail Wed at 4pm. Alsop ordered the Top Badge to take Samples into custody Dec 21st and lodge him in CRJ.
  • Dec 19 p It was  a short, no nonsense, 10 minutes in Court. In attendance were Commissioners Jerry Slinkinoooooger and Mike Pierson along with County Clerk Connie Workman.
  •  Dec 19 p Workman was called to testify. The Judge referenced media reports of the County Commission telling her to NOT cut the check after  a public vote  to pay all bills followed by a vote (item 5) to remove the  Prosecutor's request from any future agendas.
  • Dec 19 p There's a reason Connie Workman keeps getting elected, she tells the truth. When asked by the Judge about the backdoor manuvering by Larry Darryl and Darryl, she said, Yes.
  • Dec 19 p  Prosecutor Samples explained that he had requested payment from the CCC for the full amount and had been turned down.
  • Dec `9 p Clarification clickers. Last week's post mentioned a $10,000 + tow bill owed by the Prosecutor. That amount was to cover the Jamie Morris bill of $7000+ and the John Amos Morris bill of over $3000.
  • Dec 19p Today Alsop was overseeing the Contempt of Court charges brought by Fran King related to the Jamie Morris case.
  • Dec 19 p Judge Ric Facemire will handle the balance of the debt owed to the private business at a later date or when Fran brings Contempt charges again.
  • Dec 19 p For now, Prosecutor Samples is guilty of contempt of court, has to come up with the loot by  Wed at 4pm or spend the holidays in the slammer. Can't you see him behinds bars singing Silent Night with all those that have gone on before. I bet they will be happy to see the guy.
  • Dec 19 p Someone needs to tell the good Prosecutor to sleep with his back up against the wall or else it's Woooo Whoooo time for him.
  • Dec 19 p  While we're making fun of the Prosecutor, there's  a whole bunch more to this story.
  • Dec 19 p First, it wasn't the Prosecutor that screwed up and caused these bills to accumulate, it was the  Green Shirts who dropped the ball over a year ago. That govt. agency refused to release the impounded vehicles even after repeated requests to do so.
  • Dec 19 p Second, When the County Commission coughs up the $$$$ to keep Samples out of jail, they have set a bad precedence, a costly precedence for all future pay outs for screw ups.
  • Dec 19 p Third, Connie Workman was in the hot seat today because of the backdoor, slimmy dealings of the CCC. It was Workman that took the heat for Larry Darryl and Darryl.
  • Dec 19 p Finally, We have an election coming in 2012. That's a time when the voters have a say in how their county is being administered. It may might be a good time to say we don't appreciate the head of it all, Jerry Slinkynoooooggger.
  • Dec 19 p For those that haven't understood one thang said here, it's time you purchased a prescription to the only locally owned and operated newspaper, The Communicator.
  • Dec 16 a  The Communicator and this web portal are well known for giving Clayberry leadership H. Some in the community email to say, we shouldn't do that, instead we should only provide the public with good news, the good things going on in County Clay.
  • Dec 16 a In two words. BS
  • Dec 16 a Here's another example of what's wrong with this county and why remain sucking the hind teat in EVERY category.
  • Dec 16 a Wed morning Larry Darryl and Darryl voted down agenda item five. That was the request by the Prosecutor for additional funding to cover the out of budget court demand to pay a towing and storage bill brought on by crappy Green Shirt Badge work. In public the CCC voted to remove the item from discussion and never to bring it up again.
  • Dec 16 a Before Item 5 was the paying of the bills, the third item .  All the elected folks voted Aye on that matter.
  • Dec 16 a While Larry Darryl and Darryl made it look like they denied the Prosecutor's request, the reality is, during the paying of the bills, the $10,400 invoice had been included.
  • Dec 16 a What they told the public with their voting on item 5 is completely different from what they really did.
  • Dec 16 a In addition to OKing the tow bill and setting a new precedent for out of budget expenses, they told the County Clerk to NOT cut the check until told to do so at some later date.
  • Dec 16 a With zero discussion in public on denying item 5 nor on which bills to pay, that means the decisions made were done ahead of time, in secret, and away from the public meeting setting, a violation of state law.
  • Dec 16  a There's one more example of what's wrong with local leadership, that's Jerry Slinkinoooooggggeer, and aided by fellow Commissioners Mike Pierson and Arlyene Tucker.
  • Dec 16 a It you think we give our leaders too much H, you're wrong. For every intentional back door move they make and we find out about, there's probably 9 more we never hear.
  • Dec 16 a As others have said in the past, it's time for change. 2012 is election year. Make your vote count clickers.
  • Dec 15 late p We're getting some emails that some clickers are unable to view this site.
  • Dec 15 late p Several years ago we switched from claywestvirginia.com to clayberry.org. When we made the switch, we asked all to dump the old bookmark and start using the clayberry.org
  • Dec 15 late p Some didn't to it. Earlier this week, the old "mirror" site went dead.
  • Dec 15 late p Tell you're buddies, those now in withdrawal, delete the old bookmark, type in clayberry.org, and then bookmark it. They should be good to go for another few years.
  • Dec 15 late p Lindy Myers is doing up her famous meatballs and Paul is bringing his equally famous fudge guaranteed to raise your sugar level ten folds. Terry is bringing her chicken salad and dessert. The floor is waxed, the tree's decorated, and the windows are cleaned. Friday from 11 to 2pm is the Communicator Open House at the office. Stop by for a holiday celebration.
  • Dec 15 late p While were working on a juicy post on our notorious County Commission, here's a video with some well known Clayberry characters. If you're on a dial up connection a slow poke Frontier account, it will take a while to load but worth the wait.
  • Dec 15 late p Somebody is going to get coal in his stocking this year.
  • Dec 15 a  Dubbya's oil war ends today when the last American troops come home. That's not to another war front but come home for the holidays. Just as at the end of the Vietnam War, where's the parade?
  • Dec 15 a  Another of OBama De Bama's campaign promises kept.
  • Dec 15 a Happy Birthday MArge Bragg
  • Dec 15  a   Prosecutor Jim Samples had a bad day Wed. He's in need of $11,000 to pay off a tow bill and under a Court order to do so. He ain't got the funds in his budget to write the check.
  • Dec 15 a The request for funding was on Wed's County Commission agenda.  Without ANY discussion, instead of voting on the matter in public, they voted to remove the item from the agenda.
  • Dec 15 a What that amounts to is, they got their minds together before the meeting and made a decision away from a public meeting. That of course is unlawful.
  • Dec 15 a Larry Daryl and Daryl do things like that.
  • Dec 15 a That's one of the big things wrong with our elected leadership.
  • Dec 15 a You can sign up to run for elected office in four weeks. It's time cut off the head of the snake in the May primary.
  • Dec 15 a Speaking of the election, Sam Morris from the Northern end of the county is officially running for the Sheriff position. With decades of Badge experience including a long stint in administration and procurement, Sam may make a top contender for the Top Badge position.
  • Dec 15 a Even with top contender Miles Slack on record saying he has no intention nor plans to rehire Poopy, Sam is making one thing very clear, if elected, he will NOT in any way shape or form, put the Poopmeister back on the payroll . Period!
  • Dec 15 a Looks like a good campaign season is just around the corner
  • Dec 15 a Speaking about pee poor Sheriff leadership and lack there of, Wed evening, over the scanner from Black Shirt # 5, "I'm doing 100 mph plus and trying to catch him"
  • Dec 15 a  High speed pursuits (had a headlight out) are great ways to get someone (s) killed in short order.
  • Dec 14 a With all its typos and questionable interpretations, The Communicator made it to news stands around the region Tuesday afternoon. 20 pages of insight into what keeps County Clay laggin so far behind.
  • Dec 14 a Our lead story provides the detail on the real likelihood of the JG Bradley Campground closing down later this month. Doesn't sound too earth shaking? It is.
  • Dec 14 a Without a place for people to stay overnight, that's a lot less $$$ coming into Clayberry. Those new dollars are in short supply.
  • Dec 14 a The Communicator's Open House is slated for this Friday between 11 and 2pm. Munchies and such on the house. Stop by Friday for a holiday treat. See you then.
  • Dec 12 p  Happy 41 years Marge and Cliff Bragg from Big Otter land
  • Dec 12 p Don't forget to wish Cliff a Happy Navel Day on Thursday
  • Dec 12 p Happy Navel Day to Roger Morris
  • Dec 12 p Check over on our ADVISORY page for Frontier DSL speeds in the Maysel area. Got ta love em!
  • Dec 12 a Last week an 83 year old lady was strip searched at an airport by TSA agents.
  • Dec 12 a Know what they found?
  • Dec 12 a Depends
  • Dec 12 a Communicator comes out Tuesday afternoon. Be sure to email your chatters and thangs over right away. Deadline is this afternoon at 5pm
  • Dec 12 a Here's a cutey from last Wed. That morning there was a kid's Christmas party at the Courthouse were Elem students decorated the trees. Each of the rug rats were treated to cookies, hot chocolate and a stick-on Jr Deputy Badge from the Sheriff's Department.
  • Dec 12 a In addition to the kids, the Ace Cub Reporter grabbed one of the paper badges and affixed it to his sweater.
  • Dec 12 a The Town lawsuit hearing was slated for 1:30pm on Wed. There were a bunch of high dollar suits sitting in the peanut gallery waiting for the action.
  • Dec 12 a Still sporting his paper badge and decked out in his gray sweater and cords,  as the Reporter entered the courtroom, he yelled out, "ALL RISE".
  • Dec 12 a All the suits in the back of the room stood.
  • Dec 10 a   Eula Estel Happney, 77, see OBITUARY page
  • Dec 9 late p  Olive (Jo) Fitzwater Christy, see OBITUARY page
  • Dec 9 late p Happy Birthday James Pistol Rapp.
  • Dec 9 late p It was three years ago today  that the ace cub reporter was laying on the cold table with his winky exposed to the world and the giggling nurses, as a surgeon was jamming a camera scope up thru his crotch and looking at his internals via a TV screen.
  • Dec 9 late p  Moments later, from the far end of the table , came the utterance you never want ta hear. Those words were "Uh Oh".
  • Dec 9 late p Three days later, after getting stabilized, it was time for a quad by pass.
  • Dec 9 late p If you're waiting for some sharp pain to let you know you're having a heart attack, forget it. For Diabetic cripples like the Mel Gibson look alike, didn't happen. Other than barfing, weakness, and lack of energy, there was absolutely, no pain.
  • Dec 9 late p The miracle of medicine and our elected and appointed officials haven't been off the hook since.
  • Dec 9 a We forgot Mikey Evan's birthday yesterday. Happy Navel Day.
  • Dec 9 a Need a job? See JOBS page now
  • Dec 9 a You know it's winter when you wake up freezing to death because the wifey has all the covers and sheet wrapped around her like a mummy.
  • Dec 9 a Outside the sun is shining brightly. The frost is so heavy, looks like a light snow. Brrrr.
  • Dec 9 a Be sure to check out the EVENTS page for all the fun stuff going on Saturday. Santa's coming to town! After Santa there 's a free movie and munchies for snot lickers over at CHS.
  • Dec 9 a  Seems the more we try the further behind we get. There's been a lot going on meeting wise this week and we've negligent in getting snippits on the web site. Lets try to catch up a bit.
  • Dec 9 a Get your coffee cup clicker, this is going to take a while.
  • Dec 9 a Monday night the School Board met in regular session. With the we got to have it or wither on the vine Excess Levy on the ballot next month, at about every turn, came, if it wasn't for the Levy, we couldn't do that.
  • Dec 9 a Seems everything from their toilet paper to employing your next door neighbor is paid for with Levy funds. Truth is, the school system and Pentagon made it for 100+ years without digging deeper in our pockets.
  • Dec 9 a Creative wording is the key in getting the thang passed. The cry has already gone out, if the Excess Levy doesn't pass, that's the end of the free lunch program in Clayberry. Actually, the free lunch program is paid for out of Obama de Obama funds. Superintendent Tanner is artfully wording that message.
  • Dec 9 a How important is the Levy vote and making sure it gets on the ballot on a cold and snowy Saturday when most people won't come out and vote? Very.
  • Dec 9 a  Thursday evening the School Board met in emergency session to approve poll workers for the Jan 28th Excess Levy vote.
  • Dec 9 a Sometimes those artfully worded demands for more  $$$ can be taken two ways. Over in that wittle Greenbrier County based newspaper, Tanner said something like, without the Levy, Clayberry can't continue the just got underway free lunch program for all kids. The other way of looking at it is, if you vote No, then the old lunch menu, the one that kids would actually eat, would return.
  • Dec 9 a Lets see now, from three days ago, Tuesday evening was filled with public gatherings galore
  • Dec 9 a During the CAEZ Board meeting Tuesday, Jerrold Murphy from the BC&G RR Co Op spoke at length  on the Communicator's coverage of the real liklihood of shutting down their JG Bradley campground.
  • Dec 9 a Not disputing one word in the article (Get a copy before they're all gone), Murphy made a professional and well thought out approach to the future of BC&G RR and campground operations. Full details in the next Communicator but for now: with track owners saying no to selling the rails and right of ways for the BC&G tourism train, why have the hassle of a campground if there's no "draw" ( train rides) near by.
  • Dec 9 a Look for the BC&G to reform into a non profit outfit which will operate a museum style operation with trinket sales to finance the thing. If that change happens and the tourist train idea dies (again), County Clay's Tourism future will be set back greatly.
  • Dec 9 a The campground is also very important to this county. Without it, we don't have one place for people to call home for an evening or week in Clayeberry.
  • Dec 9 a Town Council also met Tuesday evening. There, Commissioners Pierson and Tucker showed up to ask questions about the future of the long stalled wa wa plant construction project. Mayor Clifton explained that he and Council would know more after a lawsuit hearing before Judge Facemire slated for 24 hours later.
  • Dec 9 a Then came Wed afternoon in Circuit Court where Suits from all over the Kanawha Valley came to watch and participate in the WV Water Development Authority (WDA) lawsuit against the Town.
  • Dec 9 a Didn't know the Town was getting sued? Where have you been. To get caught up, pick up a copy of  The Communicator right now. Did we mention The Communicator makes a great Christmas present? With that hype now posted, back the hearing
  • Dec 9 a The WDA wants a hurry up decision by Judge Ric Facemire to turn the construction project over to somebody else . The Town replied to the suit, hold it, we ain't done nothing wrong and as a matter of fact, it sure looks like some Big Boy Home Cookin is going on to protect the insurance company (US Surety) that is contracted to complete the gazallion dollar un needed plant.
  • Dec 9 a The Charleston Suits show up without mud on their shoes and look nice in their $800 suits with BMW's parked outside. Those high dollar folks get in trouble sometimes. That happened Wed afternoon when of the guys questioned Ric Facemire on what had just been said.
  • Dec 9 a You can tell when Facemire is fired up, he slides up to the front of his big leather chair. He did that, raised his voiced and "Don't You Challenge THIS Court.". I know what I just heard!!!
  • Dec 9 a Knowing his winky was in the wringer big time, the $800 Suit wilted back with a sheepish, I apologize to the Court.
  • Dec 9 a It was like when a little kid gets caught and has to sorry up to the Mother.   Fun to watch from the peanut gallery. While the lawyer was getting yelled at, the peanut gallery was smiling broadly and giggling.
  • Dec 9 a As for that lawsuit, the Judge asked more than once, why hurry up and demand a receiver for the wa wa plant project when you've already drug your feet for 14 months. No decision made with another Hearing scheduled in Jan 2012.
  • Dec 9 a In response to that lawsuit to take away construction of the plant from Town leaders, we filed our own lawsuit against the Charleston Big Boys. Full details in the next Communicator.
  • Dec 9 a By the way, the construction of the new wa w a plant was suppose to have been completed in Jan 2011. Government officials told us in 2006, we had to have it because the current paid for in full plant was ready to fall apart.     It hasn't and still meeting our every need.
  • Dec 9 a  As is the case most often. only the Suits come out ahead in Courtroom dramas.
  • Dec 8 a Happy Birthday Tom Pringle and JP Helms Jr and Patrick McMurty
  • Dec 7 late p The Clay High Panthers won their first home game of the season Wed evening beating South Harrison 53-37. Hot Diggity Dog!!
  • Dec 7 a  Those that listen to 911 scanner traffic often here confusion on what / where a road is located. The confusion comes as a  result of 911 addressing completed a couple years back.
  • Dec 7 a For decades locals called a hollow, street, community one thing only to have govt officials change the well known name to something more politically correct.
  • Dec 7 a Miles Slack put online a conversion table with the new names and simple location directions. Here's the link.
  • Dec 7 a If the phone lines works and the Frontier DSL service hold up, tonight's CHS Varsity B Ball game will be broadcast on 101.7 FM. For everybody living close by, come out and support the home time tonight.
  • Dec 7 a Go Panthers!!
  • Dec 6 late p First the good news, the CHS Lady Panthers won a closely fought nail biter tonight. We beat top ranked Braxton County in away court action. Score 64 to 61
  • Dec 6 late Way ta Go Lady Panthers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Dec 6 late p Wed night is the first home game for the Panthers. Go Panthers!
  • Dec 6 late p Now the rotten stuff.... We give Badges double H often. For the most part that criticism comes for some 100% dumb bunny action.
  • Dec 6 late p On the other hand they come across some tough stuff like car wrecks with fatalities.
  • Dec 6 late Such was the case before lunch today when a white vehicle slid off  Widen Dille Road over an embankment and ended up against a big tree.
  • Dec 6 late Neither the driver, Jennifer Cogar nor passenger Samantha Williams, both from Webster County, survived the wreck.
  • Dec 6 late p  Clayberry had drizzly rain most of the day. Bad Bad And more bad any way you look at it.
  • Dec 6 a CAEZ will be holding their monthly meeting this afternoon . Eco Dev folks convene at 4 followed by the full Board at 6pm
  • Dec 6 a Clay Town Council meets at 5pm. With a lawsuit against them and having to move from their current digs to the old Starcher Furniture Store building, they've got a full plate
  • Dec 6 a The Library Board also meets this afternoon. Think that one gets started at 5pm
  • Dec 6 aNon profit 101.7 FM is still in need of on air sponsors to make the CHS basketball season possible. Cost is $50 for the entire season, all 20 some games. Email em at wyap@frontiernet.net
  • Dec 6 a They're also looking for two volunteer sportscasters for the CHS Lady Panther basketball season.
  • Dec 6 a We're getting some Christmas gifts early this year
  • Dec 6 a Jamie Morris went before Judge Facemire Tuesday afternoon for sentencing. Dressed in orange and shackled from stem to stern, Morris winked, grinned, and laughed with by standers. It was as if all the charges and convictions were wa wa under the bridge.
  • Dec 6 a Not sure if he thought he had a deal in the bag... he didn't
  • Dec 6 a  Ric Facemire made it clear that he didn't appreciate a guy that had been given every chance every opportunity to change his life around. When Jamie tried again to say he was turning his life around and was again on the straight and narrow, Facemire nailed him with
  • Dec 6 a While you've been on bond, have you visited your child? The answer was No.
  • Dec 6 a Jamie Morris was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison plus pay ALL Prosecution court costs plus, here's the biggy clickers, pay the entire King Wrecker Co towing and storage bill now amounting to $11,140.00.
  • Dec 6 a What the county thought would never happen, did. One of our chosen few, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, is going to the slammer.
  • Dec 6 a Now back to that towing bill issue. With Facemire's order, that makes both Circuit Court Judges on record with demanding the private company's invoice be paid.
  • Dec 6 a We're not attorney's but it sounded like, before the Court will consider any motion by Morris for a reduction in sentencing, the tow bill must be paid.
  • Dec 6 a  It's normal for Badges to have vehicles towed and impounded after an arrest. It's not normal for them to leave the stuff set for months and months before releasing it. The Green Shirts did just that. It was their screw up that has now run the bill up above $11,000 with interest being added daily.
  • Dec 6 a If Jamie doesn't pay the cost in full, then it's Prosecutor Jim Samples and the County Commission on the hook.
  • Dec 6 a Several months back Larry Darryl and Darryl all but said they would have nothing to do with paying such an expense. That leaves the Prosecutor to cough up the $11,000+.
  •  Dec 6 a With the bill already well past due, there is a Contempt of Court hearing scheduled for Dec 19th.
  • Dec 6 a After yesterday's hearing, we told the Prosecutor we'd send his Christmas card over to Central Regional Jail.
  • Dec 6 a  Instead of a card, Samples suggested sending a Dremel power tool.
  • Dec 6 a Clayberry at its best , Yes, but the down and dirty is, one of County Clay's longest standing druggy criminal is off the streets for now. Maybe the time behind bars will do him some good. It certainly will improve life in this county.
  • Dec 4 late p After years of out of control behavior, Jamie Morris is slated for sentencing Monday afternoon. In this county, he's looking at one felony count of conspiracy for drug manufacture. Then comes Kenneth Crites.
  • Dec 4 late p Monday night the School Board meets in regular session. We can tell that because the Pentagon posted their agenda online for the world to see. Take a gander.
  • Dec 4 late p With many veteran teachers on staff, note the changing of the guard continues with Eric Cole and Vince Young heading to greener pastures.
  • Dec 4 late p Not so is the case with newbee CHS teacher Matt Stricker bailing out mid year.
  • Dec 4 late p Should be a good week for public meetings.
  • Dec 4 late p We've been giving Frontier DSL management double H  in the last few weeks. Truth is, they've had serious speed and capacity issues for years.
  • Dec 4 late p The law suit brought against Frontier by a Minnisota law firm last month brought em back to the forefront.
  • Dec 4 late While we're complaining about speed and down time, one person emailed us that she wasn't even able to get DSL service in the Procious area.
  • Dec 4 late From the Northern end of County Clay, this from a Sunday evening emailer: 351 KBS here tonite. Paying for 3 times that! My best wishes to the lawsuit agianst Frontier!
  • Dec 4 late p  Another person nailed it with his email: Seems like a commonly known, but little talked about fact, is that Frontier has more subscribers than their system can handle. This has been a problem for many years - cramming too many subscribers onto a system that wasn't designed to handle the load. They know it, we know it and the Legislature knows it, but no one seems to want to do anything about it. Why?  The biggest question that I have is: Why should I pay $59.95 for 2M(down)* and 750Kb (up)* when 40 miles away (Charleston) I could get 3 or 4 times that amount for about $20?  *For the record, those are the speeds I am paying for however, I have never seen anything close to that since I have been a subscriber (4 years). My actual speeds are around 900Kb (down) and 125Kb(up) and always have been...uh, I mean, on a good day (which is few and far between)... Frontier is a joke and will continue to jerk us around until someone makes them upgrade the system...
  • Dec 4 late p  And over here in Maysel, Sunday night 9:48 Frontier was offering a not so healthy 242 down and 77 kbps upload speed. A second attempt a few minutes later, Frontier was so slow the test wouldn't even run.
  • Dec 4 late p Got ta Love em!
  • Dec 4 a You would think Badges would have some kind of special and reoccurring training on how to drive above the speed the limit. Based on Black Shirt performance,  don't think that's the case in Clayberry.
  • Dec 4 a Back on June 5th, Black Shirt Robert Belt smashed into Bubby Blankenship's car while tearing out of town without proper siren and lights flashing. Making matters worse, our Top Badge had a Green Shirt write Blankenship a ticket for doing nothing wrong. Fortunately, the Courts did the right thing and dismissed all charges.
  • Dec 4 a Yesterday at 11:25am a Black Shirt mobile came into Town tearing around the curve. Black  marks remain on the pavement a result of him slamming on the brakes to avoid hitting customers coming into the Farm Store.
  • Dec 4 a Coming a gnat's arss to killing shoppers, the Black Shirt Badge whirled around in the street and headed off at just a high rate of speed.
  • Dec 4 a And Yelp, you got it, no siren to warm other innocent pedestrians.
  • Dec 4 a Once again, elected management not providing the proper training to keep Badges and Clayberry safe.
  • Dec 4 a We're down to less than 13 months with the Round One in charge. Can't get here quick enough for many!
  • Dec 3 a OBama De Bama: For "the average middle-class family, your taxes today are lower than when I took office."   True of False
  • Dec 3 a  TRUE
  • Dec 3 a We're getting a few responses on how slow Frontier Tele DSL is in Clayberry.
  • Dec 3 a Other than Larry Cole down in Procious and Carl Wilson in the Carolinas, most note snail speeds at unacceptable speeds. Some seem happy just to have the system working at all!
  • Dec 3 a Maybe a lawsuit from that Minnesota firm is the only way we've got
  • Dec 3 a It's shopping time.
  • Dec 3 a Here's a bearded beanie knit cap.
  • Dec 3 a Here's a BS button.
  • Dec 3 a A Dashboard Pole Dancer.
  • Dec 3 a For our Republicrat friends, Obama Toilet paper.
  • Dec 3 a
  • Dec 3 a How about a Jesus Shaves mug
  • Dec 3 a Maybe tattoos for the eldery.
  • Dec 3 a How about underwear for your hands.
  • Dec 3 a And with the party season in full blast, how about a working breathalyzer key chain.
  • Dec 3 a Happy Shopping season.
  • Dec 2 a Frontier's DSL service is so bad this morning, it's all we can do to post a line or two on the site.
  • Dec 2 a At 6:18 am download /upload speeds were 203/76. Thinking nothing could be that slow and still cost over $50 per month we tried it again.
  • Dec 2 a At 6:54 this morning: 356 / 88.
  • Dec 2 a At those speeds, posting Tom Sizemore's farm photo would take till noon!
  • Dec 2 a How about a contest folks. Email over your name, location, and DSL speeds. We'll post when our speeds allow
  • Dec 1 a  Alice Fitzwater West, 79, of Wallback , see OBITUARY page
  • Dec 1 a The weather has changed. Kitchen shelves are stacked with cannes of pumpkin. Shopping trips dot the weekend schedule. Kids are marking calendars.
  • Dec 1 a The holiday countdown begins today.
  • Dec 1 a On this date in history:  1913: First drive-in gasoline service station opened, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Dec 1 a 1919: Lt. Harry Colebourn officially donated Winnie (the bear Christopher Robin Milne named his bear after) to the London Zoo
  • Dec 1 a  Born 1939: Lee Trevino (golfer);  Born 1940: Richard Pryor (comedian & actor); Born 1945: Bette Midler (singer & actress);  and, 1955: Rosa Parks, a seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama, was arrested for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white passenger
  • Dec 1 a  "What do I care?" is often the cry when we bring up the govt tracking us. How sad. For those interested in knowing what those smart phones are really doing, click the underlined link.
  • Dec 1 a  We commented on Black Friday being a bust in West Virginia last weekend. We based that on our  experience at 7:30 am at Corridor G in the Kanawha Valley followed by a trip to the Charleston Mall in downtown. In those areas, there were no crowds and traffic snarls.
  • Dec 1 a Several commented on the long lines at various Wall Marts in the area.
  • Dec 1 a We must have been in the wrong place for congestion and cash register lines.
  • Dec 1 a  Be good and you will be lonesome                Mark Twain
