Sept. 30 am No updates until the
paper gets out this afternoon.
Sept. 30 am As my wife
and I are approaching our 63rd and 65th birthdays, respectively, we scheduled
our annual medical examination the same day so we could travel together.
After my examination, the doctor said: "You appear to be in good
health. Do you have any medical concerns that you would like to discuss
with me?" "In fact, I do," I said. "After I have sex with my wife
the first time, I am usually hot and sweaty. And then, after I have sex
with my wife the second time, I am usually cold and chilly."
"This is very interesting," replied the doctor. "Let me do some research
and get back to you." After examining my wife, the doctor said:
"Everything appears to be fine. Do you have any medical concerns that you
would like to discuss with me?" She replied that she had no questions
nor concerns. The doctor than asked: "Your husband had an unusual concern.
He claims that he is usually hot and sweaty after having sex the first
time with you and cold and chilly after the second time: "Do you know why?"
"Oh that old turd" she replied. "That's because the first time is usually
in July and the second time is usually in December."
Sept. 29 am A blonde pushes
her BMW into a gas station. She tells the mechanic it died. After
he works on it for a few minutes, it is idling smoothly. She
says, "What's the story?" He replies, "Just crap in the carburetor"
She asks, "How often do I have to do that?"
Sept. 29 am We're going into typing
mode for Friday's edition of the Communicator. No new posts except for
emergency stuff like a politician saying stupid stuff.
Sept. 29 am With Richard Cummings
found not guilty of shooting Tommy Young Sr, that's the last of the charges
stemming from last Fall's Murder Mountain shoot out. Lots of indictments
and charges but no convictions.
Sept. 29 am Something else from
court land Wednesday.
Sept. 29 am Local attorney
Barbara Schamberger was charged with obstructing an officer after telling
a client to leave the Courthouse while Deputy Belt looked for a arrest
warrant. Her trial was set for August but at her request, was delayed until
yesterday at 2pm. With a Special Prosecutor on hand and out of county Magistrate
too, Schamberger was a no show. 2pm came 2:30 3:00
came Magistrate Wolfe called the hearing to order around 3:15
with no Schamb in sight. Although the Prosecutor motioned for a pick up
capias, Ms Wolfe from Gilmer County, decided to give Ms Schamberger one
more chance before being picked up and sent to Central Regional Jail (CRJ).
Schamberger lucked out this time but based on the expression on Magistrate
Wolfe's face, one more no show and the nice part will be over.
Sept. 29 am Look at your credit
cards. Over due? Past due 30 days or more? Don't feel like the
Lone Ranger. Past due credit card debt is at an all time high. "Credit
card companies are increasingly addicted to their fees," said Daniel Ray,
editor-in-chief at Bankrate.com, an online financial service. "Six years
ago, all fees — including late fees — contributed only a minor portion
to overall revenue. Today it accounts for more than 30 percent." Click

Sept. 29 am Friday evening
there is a big Chili Cook and Doowop Music fundraiser at WYAP in Two Run.
The folks are trying to raise some $ to send the 2005 Apple Festival Chili
Cookoff champ to Omaha for the National Competition. Even if you don't
like chile, seeing Lisa Slack try her hand at DJing on the radio should
be worth the trip!

Sept. 28 pm It didn't
take a Clay County jury but 32 minutes to find Richard Cummings NOT GUILTY
in the shooting of Tommy Young Sr. The case stemmed from an Oct. 6th incident
on Oil Field Road in Ovapa commonly referred to as Murder Mountain.
Cummings is Tommy Young Sr's brother in law.
Sept. 28 pm Jurors heard
four witnesses testify that Richard Cummings never left his Little Italy
residence the day Tommy Sr was shot in the leg with a 12 gauge shotgun.
Testimony came that Cummings was peeling potatoes when Sr was shot.
During closing remarks, big cheese Charleston attorney Bill Lester suggested
that Tommy Sr had been shot that day by his own son while blasting away
with a box of ammo. Lester went on to speculate that Sr fabricated
the Cummings part as a pay back for an earlier incident.
Sept. 28 pm Why? Just
a few days earlier, Young Sr had been charged with shooting Mr. Cummings
9 times with an assault weapon. During Tuesday testimony, Cummings took
the stand and said he wouldn't have used a shotgun loaded with bird shot
to kill Sr. . Cummings said he would have used a high powered rifle. While
on the stand, Cummings said the shotgun allegedly used to shoot Sr was
a junk gun. That, if he had owned it, he would have "hacked" the barrel
down to 18 1/4 inches.
Sept. 28 pm Lets see now, Tommy
Sr was accused of shooting Cummings and that case was dropped. Richard
Cummings was accused of shooting Sr and a jury found him innocent today.
Several years back, Tommy Sr was charged with killing a Haufman subject
(from Clendenin) and a jury found him not guilty in that case.
Sept. 28 pm With nobody found guilty
of anything, all those shots heard by neighbors last fall must have been
firecrackers or something of the like. Only the squirrels on Murder Mountain
knew the truth and they've all died from lead poisoning!
Sept. 28 pm Full details on the
State vs Richard Cummings trial in Friday's Communicator.
Sept. 28 pm But Wait!! There's more!!!
Well sort of
Sept. 28 pm Charleston Newspapers
reported this morning of a routine traffic stop on I 79 near Elkview where
the body of a Clorissa Fields was found in the back of a van. Stabbed 6
times, Ms Fields bleed to death. There appears to be a Clayberry connection.
Sept. 28 pm Green Shirts secured
a search warrant for " a residence being a red single sorry wooded structure
at 1033 Big Otter Highway in Clayberry. The Badges were looking for knives,
scissors, box cutters, chisels or anything bloody that could have been
used to kill Ms Fields.
Sept. 28 pm We understand that Chlorissa
got in a fight with another lady in the front yard of that home. The other
lady stabbed Fields twice in the side and four times in the back with unknown
object.
Sept. 28 pm The search warrant was
executed Tuesday and a box of pot was found as far as we can tell.
Sept. 28 am The Communicator
comes out this Friday. Deadline for ads, community events, classifieds
is Wednesday evening.
Sept. 28 am It's mid week
and time for a jury to make a decision on Richard Cummings. Yesterday the
State vs Cummings trial was heard before Judge Facemire and jury of his
peers. Today at 11 am, closing arguments will begin and the jury will make
a decision.
Sept. 28 am We'll post when the
verdict is made.
Sept. 28 am the Northern end
of the county is all up in arms over Sheriff Dept. actions Monday night.
Neighbors found the corpse of Earnie Sirk and called 911. After it was
determined that Sirk had passed, the Sheriff's Dept. started removing items
from the small trailer. Eyewitnesses said Badges removed a coin collection,
a couple guns plus a bolted to the wall safe. While some items were removed,
presumably for safe keeping, other expensive items were left behind.
Sept. 28 am Has anybody ever heard
of law enforcement removing personal items from a private home while the
body was still there? Speculation is rampant. We'll try to get quotes
from the Sheriff and post in Friday's Communicator.
Sept. 28 am The 57 year old
Earnie Sirk leaves quite a legacy. His craftiness left many madder than
H or with a good belly laugh. Sirk was one of those word smiths that could
bend and massage the truth into a lie and versa visa. He was in a class
second to none. He would often sit for hours hatching a plan and
then work tirelessly setting it into motion. A few years
back he orchestrated the removal of an elementary school principal. One
time he worked a campaign for a lady with no chance of beating the
incumbent Assessor and garnered the lady over 700 votes. He engineered
a coup of the Clay Development Crop (CDC) Chair which netted Sirk the Chairmanship
only to be removed by the oft outraged CDC family clan.
Sept. 28 am More recently
Sirk won three court cases where Judicial decree put him back on the CDC
membership committee. After each decision and re-admittance to the CDC,
he would get kicked off again. At the time of his passing, Wide Glide
was working another case thru the court system to get back on the
county's most troubled social service provider's committee.
Sept. 28 am Earnie's efforts, and
misdeeds for that matter, added true color to our patchwork of life.
Sept. 28 am We understand the body
will be cremated and no service is planned. How sad.
Sept. 27 pm For many, person of
color indicates a skin pigment. In Clayberry, our colorful people are white.
Earnie Sirk was one of those colorful people.
Sept. 27 pm Whether we called
Sirk, Mayor Sirk, Osama bin Sirk, or Wide Glide, Sirk earned his handles.
Sept. 27 pm Sirk was a politician
that employed every trick, many dirty and underhanded, he could think of.
Sitting on his broke down couch, Wide Glide had the time to come up with
novel ways to turn an election. In addition to the usual tearing down of
signs and vote buying, Sirk would manufacture notorious lapel buttons.
He would falsify a candidates name with the wrong political party, he would
come up with some off color slogan and worse to affect an outcome. On occasion,
he would support or act like he was supporting one candidate only to go
behind their backs and work against them. Many times he would come up with
some twisted lie and start it thru the rumor mill.
Sept. 27 pm One thing was different
with Earnie Sirk. YEar after year, before election time, he would call
up this ace cub reporter and say, " Election is coming so don't believe
one thing I do or say for the next 12 months!.
Sept. 27 pm Late Monday afternoon,
Mr. Sirk was found dead on his couch of choice. Sheriff Holcomb said
he had spoken with Wide Glide a few days earlier and reported Earnie feeling
reaaaaal bad and unable to eat anything.
Sept. 27 pm The coming Fall colors
cannot replace the color Earnie gave to the county of Clay.

read that page too.
Sept. 27 am Tonight at 7pm tune

to hear Bill Triplett's first ever, live, radio show.
Sept. 27 am Today's State
vs Larry Thomas murder trial has been delayed. Defense attorney John Mitchell
Sr is sick.
Sept. 27 am What is up for court
action today is the State vs Richard Cummings. Almost one year ago to the
day, Murder Mountain broke out in a hail of gunfire leaving Tommy Young
and Richard Cummings shot and bleeding. Both stood accused of shooting
the other in two separate incidents during a three week period last fall.
Sept. 27 am Charges against Young
Sr were dropped when Cummings refused to testify. Tit for tat
you think? Something else must be up the Prosecutor's sleeve. Trial starts
this morning at 9 am.
Sept. 27 am Our regular clickers
know how our elected and appointed leaders act, what they say, what they
don't do, and the generally nuts way we do business in Clayberry. Last
night's Clendenin Council meeting was just as crazy.
Sept. 27 am We know.. we know..
Clendenin isn't in Clayberry proper...... BUT, several of the key players
are from Clay and what happens in Clendenin directly affects our citizenry.
Sept. 27 am Last night, the community
hall building was packed. Before the meeting opened, a process server served
the latest lawsuit on Council members, Gary Bledsoe, TJ Edmonds, Tim Hopkins,
and Ron Deel plus Town Recorder, Jean Mitchell. The document contains 36
allegations and seeks the removal of all five. The suit was brought
by 3 local Clendeninonians, Luther Smith, Robert S Evans, and David E Ross.
Don't think a pro se case can't go somewhere. Just ask Llyn Drake and Lucy
Cruickshanks who worked thier own cases this month and won against veteran
attorney Wayne King here in Clayberry.
Sept. 27 am Suits are nothing new
for that small town. Police and Municipal Judge misactions netted 18 suits
against the town. Three weeks ago Mayor Ore went to court and served a
Writ of Prohibition against against four of the council persons.
Sept. 27 am Last night, bitterness
and open hostilities were everywhere. The warring sides spewed venom at
each opportunity. Something new was added last night. Many of the
attendees came in support of Mayor Ore trying to make changes in the land
of dissent. Several times Ore received applause and ovation. No not from
one of the opposing sides but from the people that elected him to office
in the first place. Behind the rift are those that want
Bob Ore out of office and previous Mayor Donna Gillenwater back in office.
Gillenwater was in attendance with her supporters very vocal.
Sept. 27 am With Council stunned
by the most recent suit, with Ore saying that his choice for Town Attorney
(Barbara Schamberger) was no longer fired from duty, Ore's choice for Police
Chief still on the payroll, and with Ore firmly taking charge of the last
night's proceedings, Gillenwater was peed big time.
Sept. 27 am After the meeting, the
acidic Gillenwater with bitterness oooooozing from her pores and those
vertical age lines pulled tight around her lips, Gillenwater made it a
point to tell that ace cub reporter, he had no business being there, he
was a trouble maker, just causing trouble and "You're tearing our town
down!!!!"
Sept. 27 am The Mel Gibson look
alikes response to ex Mayor Gillenwater, " I was just thinking the same
thing about you." Gillenwater moved away saying something about that reporter
being a short little.....
Sept. 27 am Full write up in this
Friday's Communicator.
Sept. 26 pm When will high gas prices,
increases in utilities affect Clay? Last week Town and Country
Restaurant in downtown Clay bit the dust and closed up for good. Today
BnA produce on Main Street called it quitsville.
Sept. 26 pm In the last edition
of the Communicator came a story on our Southern border colony, Clendenin.
If you think Clayberry is screwy, read that Cledenin segment. Since that
last edition, more can be added. The quagmire is a fight between the ousted
from Mayorship, Donna Gillenwater and her left over supporters and newly
installed by the voters, Ore. During that June 2005 election, Ore won by
a landslide. The still smartin from defeat Gillenwater Gang want Ore out
in the worst way. Ore used to live on Elhurst road in Clay County before
moving South to Clendenin.
Sept. 26 pm Last week, a little
tabloid down in Clendenin printed a front page smear on Clendenin Mayor
Bob Ore owing back taxes on property owned 10 years ago in Connecticut.
Amount due: $800. Although owing vehicle license taxes is bad, the
Charleston Gazette trumped the tabloid's effort. On Sept. 22nd, The Gazette
published back taxes owed in Kanawha County. That list included tossed
from power, Donna Gillenwater's $1422.02 debt.
Sept. 26 pm Tonight at 7,
Clendenin Town Council meets in regular session in the community center.
If you're looking for some fun, head down South.
Sept. 26 am It's the last
week of the month. Where did it go?
Sept. 26 am In the fallout
from Hurricane Katrina, natural gas prices could jump 50 percent or more
this winter, with propane climbing 40 percent and heating oil rising 31
percent, according to forecasts from the Energy Information Administration.

Sept. 26 am Several

Chinooks. Here's the latest on our

Sept. 26 am Here's a place
where education really works. It ain't
here clickers.
Sept. 26 am More as it happens.
Sept. 25 am Looking back over the
last seven days, there's been ups and down
Sept. 25 am Dubbya continues
to fight two Gulf wars. There have been 2,104 coalition troop
deaths, 1,909 Americans, 96 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, one Dane, two Dutch,
two Estonians, one Hungarian, 26 Italians, one Kazakh, one Latvian, 17
Poles, one Salvadoran, three Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians
in the war in Iraq as of September 22, 2005. Former Former
Secretary of State Madeleine Albright says the worst
days in Iraq may be ahead for US soldiers.
Sept. 25 am 150,000 protested Dubbya's
oil war in DC.
Sept. 25 am Senate Majority
Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., was updated several times about his investments
in blind trusts during 2002, the last time two weeks before he publicly
denied
any knowledge of what was in the accounts.
Sept. 25 am Horror stories are growing
from the first 5 days of Hurrican Katrina. Like prison guards turned tail
and ran leaving 100s of first floor prisoners without food or care as water
rose 6 feet deep. They were trapped. Some died.
Sept. 25 am As the week opened,
the Golden Delicious Festival was closing down. The 32nd edition
came and went without any major snafus. The crowds were big and the money
flowed in Clayberry
Sept. 25 am With hurricane Rita
looming, we got scared and made a run on the gas stations. Who would have
thunk we would have stood in line to pay high prices for fuel?
Sept. 25 am By mid week, word was
out, County Clerk Judy Moore was resigning from office to take care of
family health matters. 34+ years at the Courthouse, 11+ years as Clerk,
and the person in charge of keeping the COunty Commission in line, Judy
Moore will be missed.
Sept. 25 am Thursday's Clay
County PSD meeting was short one Board member. Homer Triplett was
off the Board.
Sept. 25 am At week's end,
locals from the Summer Fork area came to the CCC meeting to be heard. Doris
Summers and Jean Happney lead the charge. Their issue was flooding in their
neighborhood. They demanded action. In the end and after talking to State
Road folks in Charleston, an investigation will be performed and a report
completed in 30 days.
Sept. 25 am The Panthers took
it on the nose Friday night. Even with a 45 yard and 85 yard touchdown
runs, ditto for Clay Middle, 18 to 22 going down to defeat.
Sept. 25 am With gas prices high
and home utility bills predicted to raise 50% or more this winter, many
Americans including a bunch of Clayberrians are filing for bankruptcy
protection before changes toughen bankruptcy protections.
Sept. 25 am Good health is
merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.
Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an
erection... ....make him a sandwich! Give a person a
fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet...
...and they won't bother you for weeks.
Sept. 24 pm All of a sudden,
lots of people are showing up and making demands of our elected officials.
Sept. 24 pm County Commission met
yesterday. 10 or more Summers Fork residents showed Friday and demanded
something be done about flooding in their neighborhood. Public safety was
the call for the day. Speakers put the finger on property owner Frank Murphy
as the guy who installed a creek crossing culvert in the early 90's. That
culvert appears to be the reason for the creek backing up and flooding
homes and vehicles during every major rain fall.
Sept. 24 pm As the CCC tried to
slink away from the issue, calls of "DON'T PASS THE BUCK" rang out. The
locals were in no mood for side stepping.
Sept. 24 pm During the meeting calls
went out to Frank Murphy ( not at home) and State Road officials in Charleston.
According to Commissioner King, the State Road folks showed an interest
in the flooding since the process could be damaging the county road.
Sept. 24 pm And with reluctance,
the County Commission accepted the resignation of County Clerk Judy Moore.
Connie Workman will assume those duties Oct 17th until a new Clerk is elected.
Sept. 24 pm It tough to win ball
games when opponents score 111 points against you in the last two contests.
Such was the case last night as the Panthers ventured into Herbert Hoover
land for a thumping, 61 to 14.
Sept. 24 pm You missing a Gold colored
SUV with trailer hitch and side running boards? Top Badge Holcomb and Unit
4 located such a vehicle in the Lizemore area off R 16 blocking a mining
road. Ahhhhh it's burnt, totaled, and from the Beckley area of WV according
to scanner traffic.
Sept. 24 pm
Sept. 24 am And for
Wayne King....... A seven-year-old boy was at the center
of a courtroom drama today when he challenged a court ruling over
who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten
by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in
keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity
be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court
when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he
adamantly refused to live with her.
When the judge then suggested
that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat
him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning
that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the
judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should
have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare
officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the West Virginia University
Mountaineers, football department, whom the boy firmly believes are not
capable of beating anyone.

Sept. 23 am Thursday evening, local
Badges busted David Stone and Jennifer Dwier on meth lab charges. The lab
was discovered on Twistabout Road in the Procious neighborhood of
Clayberry. Around 8:45pm Thursday, response crews were called in
from Charleston for the clean up operation.
Sept. 23 am Note: Remember all the
pictures of Badges using white latex gloves while around meth and
meth gear? Turns out those latex gloves offer no protection from
the hazards.
Sept. 23 am On Wed we posted info
from the Clay Development Corp (CDC) bus wreck on Ovapa Cut Off Road. 911
dispatch reported the bus as a "Multi Cap" van. Multi Cap pulled their
funding from CDC several years back during one of the CDC overthrows
of the Board and currently, has nothing to do with CDC.
Sept. 23 am With the back
end and fiberglass roof extension crushed, many feel the bus is a total
loss.
Sept. 23 am To qualify
as a Category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane intensity scale,
maximum sustained winds must exceed 155 mph (135 kt). Through 2005, only
27 Atlantic storms have reached this intensity, and only 9 were of
category 5 strength at time of landfall. Here's link on those
27 big storms this century.
Sept. 22 pm IMPORTANT
IMPORTANT IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two weeks ago our
web host server blew up. A bunch of our web files were lost.
Since then, we've been rebuilding the site manually.
Sept. 22 pm Today around 3pm, our
host, WireFire, called and said they had rebuilt their old server and retrieved
all our old files including pictures, Obits, Archived Communicators,
and past news.
Sept. 22 pm Today around 3:30pm
the propagation begins. That process can take as long as 48 hours.
Sept. 22 pm TRANSLATION: No updates
until the migration is complete. We'll be back and hopefully, with all
the old files in place.
Sept. 22 pm Thanks for your patience.
Sept. 22 am I was seepy last night.
Post coming after the noon time Clay County PSD meeting.
Sept. 22 am Clay Elem school
raised more than $1300 for Gulf coast relief and sent to the Salvation
Army.
Sept. 22am We had a chance to look
at the Clay Development Corp van that wrecked Wed afternoon. Looked like
it rolled backwards down a hill and found sudden impact with a tree or
pole. Big time damage to the rear doors and bumper. We understand
the 3 occupants were only slightly injured.
Sept. 22 am More after
lunch today
Sept. 21 pm Just before 3pm
today, all emergency service crews in the area were called out to respond
to a vehicle wreck. According to scanner traffic, a Multi Cap Senior Citizen
bus wrecked. With sirens and lights flashing, crews headed to Ovapa
short cut road.
Sept. 21 pm Around 3:12 Badges
called for power company crews to come and disconnect the electric lines
laying across the van. Health Net was canceled at 3:15 after the
first ambulance crew arrived on scene. A second crew ambulance crew
was called into action but there was a problem. The keys to the second
unit were missing. Delay time, short. Just the normal FUBARD.
Sept. 21pm By 3:46pm, over the airwaves,
"all three are out and 10-4". Ambulances transferred the occupants
to CAMC.
Sept. 21 am $1.27 billion
stolen from Iraq rebuilding funds.
Sept. 21 am At least 43 members
of Congress are against judge Roberts for Chief Justice. If only a few
more will step forward.
Sept. 21 am How are
we doing in Afghanistan? Over there, the US backed Prez wants us

Sept. 21 am We had quite a response
from that link to Goggle Earth, the web based satellite mapping site. Here
it is again for those that didn't book mark the first time around. NOTE:
you have to have high sped to get it to work right and some of the
images
could be as old as 3 years. Still fun and a great way to waste work time.
Sept. 21 am Already some are saying
Judy Moore's sudden resignation from the County Clerk's job is political.
Sept. 21 am Look at it this
way. If she wanted it political, she could have waited until May when her
successor wouldn't have had to run for office in 2006. With jobs
and politics what they are in Clayberry, watch for bunches to run for office.
Sept. 21 am Monday was Motion Day
in Circuit Court land. Marina Lanham wound up in jail yesterday. After
ordering a pee test and her unable to whiz, Lanham was given
a bunch of water to drink. Shortly thereafter she barfed all over the place.
Sept. 20 pm We use to call the County
Commissioners, the Three Blind Mice. How do the County Commissioners manage
to make it thru the day? Who reads them all the important stuff? Who ties
their shoes? For that matter, who wipes their butts?
The answer is County Clerk Judy Moore.
Sept. 20 pm Today around noon,
Clerk Judy Moore resigned from office. The letter says her reason for leaving
is to take care of family matters.
Sept. 20 pm The CCC will accept
her resignation this Friday during a rescheduled meeting of the group,
10 am. Her last day on the job will be Oct. 17th. After 34 + years on the
job including 11 as County Clerk, Moore will be missed greatly.
Sept. 20 pm If Commissioners
Triplett, Sams, and King have any sense, look for Connie Workman to be
appointed to the position. Ms Moore's 6 year term does not end until
2010.
Sept. 20 pm With Moore leaving before
the 06 Primary election, there will be a race to fill the unexpired term
in May. Watch for a gob of folks to run for the $36,000 a year position.
Sept. 20 pm If someone sees Triplett
or Sams walking around with their pants unzipped or King with buttons
unbuttoned, tell em about it since Judy won't be around to handle the duties.
Sept. 20 am Are there undercover
Badges working the county of Clay? Are the residents of Dille peed big

Sept. 20 am Lets talk stupid.
Great Britain sent over thousands of pounds of food for Katrina victims.
Those NATO approved and used by American troops in Iraq meals are
being sent to the incinerator. Tons of food is being kept from needy victims.
Pitiful!

Sept. 19 am Happy Monday morning.
While we're typing and getting today's edition of the Communicator to bed,
no new web updates.
Sept. 19 am That near award winning
newspaper should be on the news stands around 4pm. 24 pages of juice including
some pictures from the just completed Golden Delicious Festival.
Sept. 17 pm Psst Pssssst.. Don't
let anybody know but..... today is Lindy Myers' Birthday.
Sept. 17 pm Over the last 7 days
we've seen the best and worst of small town America.
Sept. 17 pm Down in our Southern
border colony, Clendenin, the bitterness was overflowing as those tossed
from power during the June election worked to undermine the new administration.
The old guard still feeling the smarts from the people's mandate
have yet to understand, the old ways were bad, the old ways left them the
embarrassment of that county, and the old ways, the old administration,
is already gone and they don't even know it. What's next for Clendenin?
Faced with extinction, it's time for them to try more backdoor, underhanded
tricks. Some people are slow learners.
Sept. 17 pm County Commission met
this past week and did what they were elected to do, take charge. During
the mid week meeting, Triplett and company voted in a new county
vehicle policy designed to reduce liability. With policy in place,
county vehicles are to be parked when not on official business and family
members are not allowed as tag alongs. It's a start!
Sept. 17 pm Confronted with
out of control thugery, the tiny community of Dille showed up in force
during the CCC gathering to express their thoughts. Those folks, mostly
senior citizens, made it clear, they ain't taking it any more. They want
the druggies and thugs off their streets and out of the neighborhood. One
fellow sounded like he was ready to load his shotgun and take care of the
problem himself. Sheriff Holcomb advised against vigilantism and said his
department would increase efforts in Dille.
Sept. 17 pm This was Apple Week
in Clayberry. The grand daddy of them all, the Clay County Golden Delicious
Festival. For 11 1/2 months, a small band of volunteers worked to
organize the four day event. Their labors paid off as thousands attended
this year's offering.
Sept. 17 pm Music, crafts,
story telling, marching bands, apple pie contests, skillet flinging and
more all came off without a glitch. It was small town America at its best.
Little kids had fun until their dropped from exhaustion. The Festival
served as a reunion for long time residents and those that left for greener
pastures. Hand shakes, smiles, and back slaps were everywhere.
Sept. 17 pm This year's big
apple came off without reports of vandalism, tire slitting, or windshield
bashing. Maybe seven month's worth of stepped up law enforcement paid off
during this year's 32 Anniversary of the Golden Delicious fun.
Sept. 17 pm Labor Day is the traditional
end of Summer for most of the country. Here in Clayberry, Summer ends with
the Apple Festival. Other than the Fall Foliage Saturday in Oct., it time
to cut firewood, put plastic over drafty windows and check the stove pipe
for rust. Winter is right around the corner
Sept. 17 pm For our Panther football
team, Calhoun County did something they rarely do at Bradley/Schoonover
Field. They sneaked past us 50 to 7 Friday night.
Sept. 17 am No update
this morning , just couple of notes.
Sept. 17 am This is the last day

Sept. 17 am Two women met
for the first time since graduating from high school. One asked the
other, "You were always so organized in school, Did you manage to
live a well planned life? " " Yes," said her friend. "My first marriage
was to a millionaire; my second marriage was to an actor; my
third marriage was to a preacher; and now I'm married to an undertaker."
Her friend asked, "What do those marriages have to do with a well
planned life?" "One for the money, two for the show, three to get
ready, and four to go."
Sept. 17 am Update coming soon
Sept. 16 am It didn't go so well
for the Clay Panthers last night. Calhoun sneaked by our home team 50 to
Sept. 16 am Didn't go so well for

anniversaries, etc... Email them over now for the next edition.
Sept. 16 am Today is the biggie
day for the Golden Delicious Festival. From 9 am to well after dark, there's
something to do, see or eat their entire time. Come out and have some.
Don't forget Solomon's Secret tonight beginning at 8pm.
Sept. 16 am In years' past, thugs
have busted windshields, slit tires, got into fights, used blow guns to
induce pain, and more. Even with a full moon last night, no acts of vandalism
reported as of 11pm Friday night.
Sept. 15 am It is Apple Festival
time in full force. Come out and have some fun.
Sept. 15 am A week ago today,
our web host Wirefire fried a server and this site went down. Some of the
files have been located and uploaded. A few more coming. Some folks are
having trouble viewing Clayberry since the blow out. Tell em to delete
their old favorite of bookmark link and type in www.clayberry.org

Sept. 15 am Update coming
ASAP.
Sept. 14 am Happy 12th Birthday

Sept. 14 am Belated birthday wishes

Slack.
Sept. 14 am This is Apple Eve in
the land of Clay. The stage is set up. Vendors are wiring up their food
booths. the carny's have a couple rides ready to whirl. Traffic is
already backing up. It time for the Golden Delicious Festival. Schedule
is over on the EVENTS page and more on the ADVISORY page. With
warm dry weather predicted, it open season on having fun. Now if they can
keep the locals from stealing Darlene's golf cart this year and keep the
fireworks under lock and key!
Sept. 14 am Here's a cutey.
In Magistrate Court land, without aid of an attorney, Llyn Drake won a
civil case against veteran attorney, Wayne King. At issue was a landlord
who tossed out $1600 of a renters personal property.
Sept. 14 am During their regular
meeting, County Commission voted in a new county ban on using taxpayer
paid for vehicles to haul family members, do non government business, and
stopping after hours use of county vehicles. The ban came just days
after Deputy Belt wrecked a cruiser while off duty and carrying his family
to a ball game.
Sept. 14 am Over 20 Dille
W Va residents attended the County Commission meeting and voiced their
outrage over, out of control gun, toting felons and druggies taking over
their community. Some spoke on the rash of breakins while others
told the CCC and Sheriff Holcomb: thugs are riding 4 wheelers at high speed
and without regard to citizen safety; senior citizen's are being robbed
on a regular basis, and Badges are rarely seen in their rural community.
Sept. 14 am One lady told a horror
story where thugs broke into her home in search of drugs while she lay
in bed. So brazen was the low life, he didn't immediately leave after searching
for Rx drugs, but came into her bedroom and flashlighted her.
Sept. 14 am And then And then.....
Sept. 14 am Bud Knight told
Commision and the Sheriff of a recent episode where he asked for police
help and received none. According to Mr Knight, local law informed him
, "they" were driving too many miles and there wasn't enough $ to
pay for gas! They? Mr Knight identified the officer as Deputy Belt.
Sept. 14 am Sheriff Holcomb said
it was the first he had heard of that, his department still had $8000 in
the fuel budget, and if those statements were true, he would straighten
up the mess. Knight didn't care for the part about "if" his statements
were correct. Knight might it very clear that Belt didn't come to investigate
the break in and the part about not having the $ for gas was true as well.
Sept. 14 am It didn't go over too
good when Holcomb said he had just spent $3000 to re-carpet and paint the
office area.
Sept. 14 am Lets see now.... Not
enough gas to investigate thugery but plenty of gas to take the family
to a ball game. More on the meeting later. In the mean time, a great big
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Sept. 14 am Sister's Place
restaurant down at Procious is changing. Starting this Saturday it'll be
Betty's Place with a 1950's theme. Saturday specials include hot
dogs 2 for a buck.
Sept. 14 am Last Friday there was
a fire at Clay High. Some in the community are raising concerns over fire
alarms not going off.
Sept. 14 am Lets get your blood
stirred up.
Sept. 14 am The Red
Cross did not and is not distributing food supplies in New Orleans. Did
you know that? Did you know six of their Board of Directors donated big
time to the Dubya campaign? Did you know the Red Cross is exempt
from Freedom of Information Act laws? Do you remember when they diverted
9/11 funds? Get you cup of coffee and read the straight
poop.
Sept. 14 am Now that W has
lost the Iraq war, it's time to move on to Iran. Finally Senator Byrd has
made it clear, it's time to bring the troops home.
Sept. 14 am Now that we've lost
the war on terror, it's time to give up more civil rights here in the homeland.
Here's a glimpse of our military telling the media they can't report
on what they see in New Orleans. Don't miss the part about clean
up workers peeing on the tattered houses. Click, no pictures, no stories.
Sept. 14 am So what do you do with
all the bodies in New Orleans? Who handles the corpses? They hired the
one outfit that is known to hide, conceal, and dump bodies in open
fields for wild game to eat. True. They just settled a $100 m lawsuit
for those actions. Click: scandal-ridden Texas-based company operated by
a friend of the Bush family.
Sept. 14 am There! How's that for
a mid week blast? Here's the local scoop....
Sept. 14 am Remember
Bob Ore? Ore ran against Commissioner Sams four years back and lost. Ore
later served on the Ambulance Authority during its twilight time. Long
time Elk Valley resident Ore moved to Clendenin and wound up as Mayor during
the June 05 election. Won big time too! 180 something to 100 defeating
lawsuit prone Donna Gillenwater.
Sept. 14 am Almost as soon
as getting elected, Bob Ore got in the grease with small fish in
an even smaller pond. Get this, Ore took charge of the out of control municipality
by installing a Chief of Police and removing the Police Commissioner. Stepping
on toes all along the way, Ore then hired Clay County attorney Barbara
Schamberger. Schamberger ran against Commissioner Sams and came a gnats
arss of beating Sams in the Nov. general election. She later
sued the county over actions of the CCC during a bid for the Prosecutor's
spot.
Sept. 14 am Clendenin Council met
Monday night. Talk about bad karma! You could feel the tension with every
motion and vote. It appears there are three warring factions down there.
The outgoing administration trying to regain control of the small pond
while another group, an economic development group is pulling for the Ore
camp.
Sept. 14 am The third group
was way in the back, the Clay County Camp. Yelp. There was Clay County
Commissioner Jimmy Sams and family. His son use to be a Clendenin
badge. One time Procious and Clay Roane PSD member Garrett Samples (also
moved to Clendenin) and family was also over in that corner. His
son use to be a Clendenin badge too. Samples is Sams'
father in law. Any time Mayor Ore made a suggestion, the Clay Corner would
grown and sneer. When the split Council voted to do something contrary
to good judgment or reason (that would be Ore), the Clay Camp would
laugh. That band of underlings grew a pee ant newspaper that claims to
spread sunshine.
Sept. 14 am Instead of sunshine,
the fledgling rag worked hard to keep the past administration and smear
the current one. With Ore winning by a land slide, seems their little
smear campaign didn't work too well. Sept. 14 am Remember our last
Asst Prosecutor TJ Drake? He's was in attendance too. Drake is representing
four of the Council men who are being sued over the out of control police
department tactics and municipal court in power prior to the new
Mayor taking over, three months back.
Sept. 14 am And then there's yet
another Clay County connection in our Southern border colony, Barbara Schamberger.
Ore hired Shamberger as municipal attorney. Ore's attorney hire peed off
Council as much as when he hired the Chief of Police of his choice. Monday
night, two Council members TJ Edmonds and Gary Bledsoe got the Town Recorder,
Jean Mitchell, to change her vote three times to garner a majority
and remove Schamberger as attorney. The Clay Camp grinned with pride.
They and the other small fish knew, getting rid of Schamb would weaken
Ore and get them one step closer to regaining control of the politics
in Clendenin.
Sept. 14 am Not sure
what is behind all this but with Sams and Samples involved, it has to be
$. Maybe one or both want jobs for family members. Just a guess.
In a nutshell, it's a mess down there and not getting any better. Those
lawsuits could cost the municipality $1000. The dirty politics could
cost them even more. The underbelly scourge is out to topple Bob
Ore. Monday night, they came one step closer to their dream.
Sept. 13 am Last Halloween,
Jordan Varney made it out for Trick or Treat night. Aided as he went around
the downtown area, Jordan had a sparkle in his eye. He ended the
night with a bag full of goodies. He was having fun.
Sept. 13 am Sadly we report,
Jordan Varney, see FUNERAL page.
Sept. 13 am Instead of up
dating the site we spent late last night with a new gizmo called google
earth. The program allows the clicker to zoom around the world and
see satellite imagery of earth. Type in your own address and watch what
happens as it zooms down. Type in New Orleans and see for yourself the
flood damage. Head over to Iraq for a first hand look.
Sept. 13 am Here's the link to the
new toy. Note: you have to have high speed for this to work.
Sept. 13 am Last night our Southern
border colony Clendenin held a Town Council meeting. Full details later
today.
Sept. 13 am Over on the EVENTS
page are the details for Sunday's Apple Festival Fishing Tournament at
the Clay pool.
Sept. 12 am This is a big
week in the land of Clay. This is Apple Festival week. The Festival opens
Thursday evening. The Schedule is posted on the EVENTS page. Saturday,
travel down Main Street will be all but impossible. For the many, non profit
, venders trying to raise $, a good apple week can make a big difference.
For the rest of us, it's time to have some fun, the last hurrah before
cold weather sets in. Parades, fireworks, crafts, games for the rug rats,
and music galore.
Sept. 12 am Before Apple time,
on Wed, the County Commission will convene. The two page agenda includes
a couple good juicy items.
Sept. 12 am The Commissioners have
on their plate a vote to stop after hour, while off duty, use of county
vehicles. Ah ... that would include Badge vehicles. The agenda makes absolute
the resolution to ban carrying family members in county vehicles while
off duty. In recent times, local Badges have been allowed to make costly
trips delivering family members to their job sites and return trips.
The 10 miles to a gallon is expensive, but the liability part is darn right
out of sight.
Sept. 12 am Also planned for
Wednesday morning is Fola Coal not coughing up $ while enjoying Ambulance
Service rights. Rules call for coal operators to either man their
own ambulance service or pay a pre man fee to the county. Our good Corporate
neighbor, Fola Coal, ain't paying up and hasn't for a long time. Looks
like the CCC may issue a nasty gram.
Sept. 12 am So how did Dubbya blow
the Katrina disaster? Here's the latest from NewsWeek. Pretty good reading.
Sept. 12 am "We divided the hospital's
patients into three categories: Those who were traumatized but medically
fit enough to survive, those who needed urgent care, and the dying."
Those in the last category were given massive doses of morphine and
"put down". Those words came from a New Orleans Doctor.
Sept. 12 am Does the name Halliburton
ring a bell? The Government Accounting Office (GAO) is already investigating
their clean up work in New Orleans.
Sept. 11 am One quick look at the
past week before we get into Apple Festival mode.
Sept. 11 am Even the strongest
Dubbya supporters have a hard time confirming he has a brain. Fortunately,
even those supporters are coming to understand the lies he told to
justify a costly war. For the first time in the Newsweek Poll, more
Americans disapprove of Bush's handling of terrorism and homeland security
(48%). And almost half (49%) of all those polled say taking military
action against Iraq two years ago was not the right thing to do
Sept. 11 am There have been
2,087 coalition troop deaths, 1,893 Americans, 95 Britons, 13 Bulgarians,
one Dane, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Hungarian, 26 Italians, one
Kazakh, one Latvian, 17 Poles, one Salvadoran, three Slovaks, 11
Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians in the war in Iraq as of September
9, 2005
Sept. 11 am W's short comings
came thru loud and clear this week during the Katrina recovery efforts
down South. Under his stewardship and the political hired pay back
hacks, our country suffered once again. But now we know why he has such
little understanding and compassion for the common man. It's his Mother!
Yelp. Mother Barbara commented on the Katrina victims: "They didn't have
much of anything anyway."
Sept. 11 am Closer to home
from the last seven days.....
Sept. 11 am Clay County's
source for instant news, this site, blew up leaving 1000's of news junkies
without their fix. The web host of this site, Wirefire let us down
when their server fried. Not until Tuesday night late did any part of this
site re-emerge from cyber meltdown. Many archived sections of this
site remain lost.
Sept. 11 am During a Town Council
meeting, leaders thought it was unsightly for locals to hold yard sales
and employed the Mayor to go talk the offender entrepreneurs. The town
was unable to pay their bills. No discussion was held on setting up a money
making, Municipal Court.
Sept. 11 am CAEZ held their annual
meeting where congratulatory accolades were exchanged profusely.
Of course, Clayberry is still waiting for the first non government job
to be created by the 10 year old CAEZ in this county of little.
Sept. 11 am Since the demise of
the Clay County Ambulance Authority a couple years back, we've been hearing
how much better the ambulance service is doing and how much better the
place is being operated. Without the Authority to keep us entertained
in a public setting, figuring out what is really going on is a lot tougher.
Wasn't so tough this past week. On Thursday, a Calhoun County
ambulance had to respond to our needs when three of our trucks were broke
down and the fourth was on a run. Director King commented Friday afternoon
the three units were being serviced. In reality, all three were broke down
with faulty or wore out brake systems. King said all three would
be back operational Friday. Saturday morning, a Kanawha County ambulance
and paramedic were called into action when Clayberry could not handle
the needs of our citizenry.
Sept. 11 am Another snafu this week
when a Deputy Sheriff wrecked a cruiser while off duty and carrying his
family to a ball game. Not so long ago, the Sheriff himself used his cruiser
as an ambulance when a family member needed a quick trip to the emergency
room in Charleston.
Sept. 11 am Thursday night, the
Clay Roane PSD paid little attention to the just completed and released
annual audit. The financial document revealed the financial decay and dismal
state of management and oversight in the county's largest water provider.
Sept. 11 am Just when you think
Badges are getting a handle on the crime in Clayberry, think again. The
new hot spot for thievery is the Southern end of county around Bomont where
3 four wheelers, guns, micro waves, frigs, powered wood splitters and fuel
have been stolen over the last few days. Another four wheeler was swiped
from the old Coon Hunter's camp near the top of Dundon Hill.
Sept. 11 am When you think things
are bad here, just look at our Southern border colony, Clendenin. Down
there, one time Clayonian and now Clendenin Mayor, Bob Ore went to
Court to stop warring Town Council members. With the town covered
up with 18 lawsuits against their police department and municipal court
(prior administration), Ore hired a new police chief and the locals went
wild. Ore's Writ of Prohibition went over like poop in a punch bowel. On
the Council are leftovers from the last administration who sure don't
like a newbee coming into power and making changes.
Sept. 11 am Over in Court land,
the biggie of the week, the State vs Larry Thomas murder trial was put
on the back burner until Badge Wiles gets back from Guard duty in Louisiana.
Sept. 11 am And on this Sunday morning,
we reflect on 9/11 four years back. Most of us can remember exactly where
we were and what we were doing. Four years ago, this ace cub reporter was
sitting in a County Commission meeting when the news came the planes
had struck the World Trade Center and Pentagon. The meeting was short and
solemn with all thoughts elsewhere. Our nation was under attack and we
knew it before the news guys ever said it. With the meeting over,
many headed to the historic Henry Clay Hotel. There all eyes were on the
above the beer cooler mounted tube. We watched the Towers fall and watched
a confused looking Prez hide. The place was quiet. Pain filled the
county of Clay.
NOTE NOTE Web host blew up.
Data lost Sept 1 thru Sept 10 2005 Sorry
Sept. 1 am
Put away those white shoes. Fall is here and it feels like too! Last call
for events, community notices, classifieds. Communicator deadline is high
noon today. We're in typing mode getting the rag together. No new posts
until we get it to bed sometime Friday afternoon.
Sept. 1 am For those lookin
for something to do, head over to the Courthouse. At 9 is a hearing with
Richard Cummings, charged with shooting Tommy Young Sr. followed by the
pre trial for charged with murder, Larry Thomas. If your looking for a
dry spot, the court room is the place. They replaced the roof last Spring.
Sept 1 am Don't forget, today is
the Red Cross Blood Drive. See EVENTS page for details
Sept. 1 am At 5pm today is the regular
meeting of the Business Development Authority(BDA). According to the agenda,
they've got someone interested in the industrial site ( Filcon) near Ovapa.
Sept. 1 am In the State vs Gerald
Thompson Jr. trial, the jury has heard all they're going to hear in the
way of evidence. Both sides rested Wed evening around 5:45pm The
case stems from a "shots fired" 911 call from April 13 2004. Once there,
badges found a meth lab. Or did they? The defendant and family say nope,
it wasn't a meth lab. Instead, they claim each of the ingredients found
were actually common stuff found in most households Rock salt? Used it
last winter to melt the ice. The acid? Use it to clean stonework.
The mason jars? Well, they can a lot of stuff. Coleman fuel? Well,
they didn't have electricity and had two coleman lanterns for night time
light. Jury should get the case before lunch Thursday. If the decision
comes before midnight Thursday, we'll have in Friday's paper.
Sept. 1 am Yesterday morning,
during a special session of the BDA, the group voted to become a certified
business community. The county has sought the designation for the
last 8 years with little success. Only 7 other counties in W Va are without
the status. Not hind tit but close!
Sept 1 am Remember Jim Paxton? The
guy that ran for Sheriff last May. He's back in uniform. Went to
work as a Deputy Monday replacing Chad Sizemore who skidaddled Aug
25th for greener pastures.
Sept. 1 am
A drunken man walks into a biker bar, sits down at the bar and orders a
drink. Looking around, he sees three men sitting at a corner table. He
gets up, staggers to the table, leans over, looks the biggest, meanest,
biker in the face and says: "I went by your grandma's house
today and I saw her in the hallway buck naked. Man, she is one fine looking
woman!" The biker looks at him and doesn't say a word. His buddies
are confused, because he is one bad biker and would fight at the
drop of a hat. The drunk leans on the table again
and says: "I got it on with your grandma and she is good, the best
I ever had!" The biker's buddies are starting to get really mad but
the biker still says nothing. The drunk leans on the table
one more time and says, "I'll tell you something else, boy, your grandma
liked it!"
At this point
the biker stands up, takes the drunk by the shoulders looks him square
in the eyes and says, "Grandpa,....... Go home, you're drunk."
