When we think back on our lives we will think about how lucky we were to have our lives intertwine with hers; we will remember her with the fondest of memories and the warmest of hearts. "Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free; I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found that place at close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow; I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much; good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all to brief; don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me; God wanted me now, He set me free." March 24 2011 Nell Jean Belt Boggs Smith, was born in Widen on January 15, 1929 to Oscar and Nona Belt. Completing their family circle was two brothers, Basil and Jarel, and two sisters, Daphene and Emogene. Nell married Noval Boggs and they had four sons. When she later married Irvin Smith, he had three sons. Caring for this large combined family was a big task, but she did it well. As could be imagined with a houseful of boys, their home at Camp Creek was lively, but also full of love. The years passed and their sons married and brought into their lives the daughter-in-laws they had always wanted. Grandchildren came along to be cherished. Then came a very bleak time in their lives when they lost a son, David Smith. With the help of God, they came through this loss and together they served the Lord. Life was good. Time passed swiftly and in November 2004, Nell’s beloved husband Oliver Irvin Smith was called home to be with the Lord. Her life was forever changed. Her life became quieter, her steps became slower, but still she served the Lord and loved her family. Then came the disease that finally claimed her life, but was never able to claim her spirit. On Sunday afternoon, March 20, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, she took the hand that the Heavenly Father had extended out to her and took that final step to claim the reward that she had labored for so long. Proverbs 31:28 says “Her children arise up and call her blessed”. Her family has proven this to be true. Her goals in life were simple…Serve her Heavenly Father with her whole heart and love her family unconditionally. She did both. We mourn our loss but rejoice in her gain. Nell leave behind her sons and families: Shane (Donna) Boggs of Summersville, Sammy (Hazel) Boggs and Mike (Kathy) Boggs, all of Queen Shoals and Rocky (Sharon) Boggs of Valley Fork. Two step-sons; Mike (Carrie) Smith and Ed (Sandy) Smith all of Camp Creek, one sister Emogene Jule of Columbus, OH., also left to cherish their memories of their Mamaw is 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Ovapa Church of God with Pastor Richard Talbot officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery, Camp Creek.
