Nancy Carol Looney Barnhouse, 80, of Walton, West Virginia, was received into Heaven on November 15, 2025.
She was born February 17, 1945, at Robinsons Run, WV, a daughter of the late Samuel Shirkey Looney and Nina Belle Lowe Looney Barnhouse.
She was the strength of our family. She was a homemaker for most of her life, but she also took pride in the homes she cleaned for a living. One of her biggest joys was being “Nanny” to Andy Matics.
She was a devout Christian woman, putting all her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday School, organized many church dinners and loved to sing in church. She was a member of Cottontree Community Church. She’s smiling and laughing today in Heaven and singing in the choir. Nancy’s smile and laughter is what her family wants you to always remember—that and her love for everyone because of the big heart she had.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former spouse Okey Barnhouse; brothers Clarence, Ted, Ronnie, and Davey; sisters Virginia, Ermal, Betty, Faye, and Janis.
She is survived by son Timothy Barnhouse (Lori), daughter Tammy Stricklen (Ronnie); grandchildren Justin Barnhouse (Jesse), Evan Barnhouse (Brittany), Isaac Barnhouse, Hannah Carroll (John Ross), and Phillip Stricklen; great-grandchildren Kevynn Barnhouse and Joshua Barnett; sisters Audrey, Ruth, Connie, Carolyn, Cathie, and Cindy.
A funeral service will be held at Stump-Matics Funeral Home, 8539 Elk River Road North, Clendenin, WV 25045, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with her pastor Rev. Billy Meadows officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Rocky Branch Cemetery, Walton, WV.
