ELECTION 2024
Jan 24 2024
--
Comparable to voting and
serving on a jury, nothing is more important than running
for office and / or finding quality people to run for Govt
duty. 2024 is a presidential year election. Locally most all
County offices are up for the public's nod. Peturbed about
local leadership? Think they're dumber than a box of rocks?
Join the crowd readers.
For the May Primary, openings include both
Magistrates, one Commissioner, Sheriff, County Clerk, Sch Bd
Assessor, and Prosecutor
Magistrates Jeff Rider (District 2) and Jeff Boggs (District
1) are heading into retirement land. Contenders for Dist 2
Nicole Summers, Wesley Armes, and Frankie West. Running for
the District One slot, Andy Bragg and Ryan Thomas.
Connie Kinder's Commission seat is up for a public
nod. Kinder has not signed for another run but we think she
will. Contender is Republicrat Duane Legg from down in
Indore. Kinder's district is the Southern end of County
Clay.
Republicrat Allen King is seeking another four years
as Sheriff. Two time Sheriff Randy Holcomb is back on the
ballot on Demorcrap side.
County Clerk has no takers so far but expect
incumbent Sheila Stone to seek another four years of
service.
Demo Teresa Davis has no challengers in the
Assessor job. As a note: Assessors are the second highest
paying slots on the ballot. Only the Prosecutor makes more.
Expect Prosecutor Jim Samples to get back on
the ballot too.
School Boardsters David Pierson and Susan Bodkins are
up for 2024. On two occasions Ms Bodkins has said, she
ain't running again.
As of 10:30am Jan 24th, Pierson has re-upped. One time
Sch Super, teacher, Kenneth Tanner is taking a stab at being
a Boardsters. KT is in A district while Dave Pierson hails
from B District.
Final day to sign up for office is this Saturday, Jan
27th. The Courthouse will be open til noon Saturday. You can
mail in your election form as long as it is post marked
before midnight Jan 27th.
Think county leadership is crappy? Think you could do
a better job? Interested in a good paying job with full
benefits and even better hospitalization insurance?
Now's you chance. The County needs all the help
it can get.
9pm Jan 25 2024
As
of 3pm today,
we've got several more contenders for the May
2024 Election
Add
to the above list:
Incumbent Sheila Stone Demorat signed up for
a full term. So far she is the lone
choice
Ditto for incumbent Commissioner
Connie Kinder (Demorat). With
Kinder now running, there is a race.
Republirat Duane Legg signed
up earlier this week.
Remember when Susan Bodkins
told the world: I ain't
running! Actually she said
it twice during public
meetings
Liar liar pants on fire!
In addition to incumbent
Dave Pierson (B
District) and Kenneth
Tanner (A),
Bodkins (C District) has
thrown her hat into the
ring. Newbees
to the contest include
Aaron Williams from A
District and John Colemann
also from A
Finally,
Incumbent Assessor
Teresa Davis Democrap)
is now seeking another
turn at the trough.
Something to note in
the School Board
race. Law
allows just two reps
from any one
District. With the
current make up of
the Board, the final
results may be
affected.
We got a fun
election
developing.
Politics
is everything in
County Clay.
Here's an
campaign flyer
from 1940.
