Dumbarsses Abound!
Feb 15 2024

Appalachian culture includes pretty rotten traits like being clannish and growing complete fabrications minus any kind of fact base. If you are not five generation Clayonians, you must be a carpetbagger. If someone writes it on Russian meddling sites, it must be true. That's going on now in County Clay.
While we don't partake of Facebook, people send us those outrageous posts.
Read a couple screen shots below.

Susan Bodkins is a sitting County Clay School Boardster. As an elected officer, her words should have some weight, trust. With posts like above, it's hard to imagine anyone would be confident believing anything she says or does.
CMI2 has taken a gamble on locating in this Land of Little. Keep in mind, this wasn't their first location. Before investing millions in County Clay, they started out in Boone County. When they had massive amounts of thievery down there coupled with no local support, CMI2 loaded up for a better place to do business. They could easily do that again and take those high paying jobs, take those construction jobs, and move to some other place not laced with dumbarsses.
For answers, check out the CMI2 website announcement. Be sure to read the information, all of it.
Bodkins is often the first one to spout off without ANY understanding when it benefits her. Read below

Bodkins is running for office in May and doing so after telling the world, she would not seek office again. She has said that during two public meetings. To us it sounds like Bodkins is a fibber and now using misguided words to further her ballot attempt ruse.
CMI2 has already proven its worth as a corporate partner during their three years here. Their plans include a $7 million conference training / conference center later this year. That investment, buying property completely inside this county, and paying top wages (and benefits) to local workers, that says a bunch.
Had Bodkins half a brain, she would know Lizemores and HE White grade schools revert back to the original landowners when the property is not used for educational purposes. Private owners have every right to turn their property into whatever they like. That's exactly what happened at Valley Fork Elem when the Sch Bd sold it for $200,001.00. Private means private.
That wet eyed post by Bodkins about about kids having to be transported over 30 minutes when Lizemores is closed this June .... She forgot to mention that her own wards attended Clay Elem up until just before the majority vote to close was decided.
County Clay has been plagued by poor leadership for decades.
To allow unthinking community leaders jeopardize that CMI2 bright future, we hope you do remember Susan Bodkins election day. We sure don't need such mentality in a leadership position. Twisting the untruths into campaign rhetoric, how sad.
From Henry Ward Beecher: Greatness lies in not being strong, but in the right use of strength.

UPDATE:  That third pic above informs readers that Susan Bodkins voted NO on closing Lizemores and H E White grade School. That ain't exactly correct.
Truth is, to close a school (s) it takes  two or three votes by the local Sch Bd to consummate the entire deal.
On Sept 12, 2023, Sch Boardster Bodkins voted with the rest of the Board to start the closure process. It was a 5 to 0 vote.
She could have voted NO back then but didn't.
