Many in the county know Scott Samples as the tall guy that worked over at Tudors/Ginos. He's a quiet feller sporting a weird hair cut, one side nearly shaved clean. Living up on Guy Mullins Road, Mr Samples managed to get himself into trouble on Friday Dec 20th. A bunch of us were listening to the 911 scanner on the 20th and heard Badge 3, that's Patrick Morris, on the mic requesting an ambulance. His voice was different. Not quite out of breath from say running, but still when he asked for an ambulance, we knew something wasn't right.
  New on the job, with Patrick was Haylee Morris. Fresh on the job, Ms Morris managed to wipe out her shoulder 9 days earlier during an ATV accident. Sporting an arm sling, Ms Morris was the ride along
  From the criminal complaint and edited a little, here goes.
  Information was received from the Sheriff's office that Scott Samples was cussing and yelling at kids along the road in front of the house on Guy Mullins Road in Maysel.  Upon arriving at the scene Patrick knocked on the door. Scott came to the door and outside on the porch holding his dog by the collar with the dog between Patrick and Samples.  Badge Morris asked why he was holding the dog like he was and if he could put it back in the house.
  Samples told em, he felt threatened and God told him that we were going to hurt him.
  Patrick told Samples, no one was going to get hurt and if it made him feel better, the dog could stay.
  The Black Shirt tried to talk to Scott but the guy did not want to hear anything about what was going on. He stated that it did not matter that Morris would just take their side anyways, so Samples was just not going to talk about it.
  Samples then started yelling, cussing, and saying all kinds of weird things.  Patrick tried again to talk to him who cussed and then went back into the house.
  Morris asked Samples to come back outside which he did and started cussing before sitting down on the porch. Samples then got real irritated and argumentative with the Badge.
  He then got back up and kicked the Badge in the leg followed by cussing some more.
  Badge Morris forcefully put Samples on the floor of the porch telling him to stop resisting. Samples then became very aggressive  and started kicking and swinging at Morris and trying to open the door to the house to let the dogs out on the Badge, Patrick used pepper spray to control the situation.
  After hosing down Samples, the guy was ordered to the floor but Scott kept resisting trying to get up and in the house.
  Once in custody, EMS was called for the pepper spray use.
   Magistrate Jeff Boggs found probable cause for obstructing a Badge and Malicious assault, both misdemeanors. As of this newspaper report, Scott Edward Samples (DOB 12-3-81) remains behind bars unable to make bail.
  Sounds like a close call with a normally laid back guy going berserk. That part about God talking to him... sounds pretty weird to us.
  There's no mention in the report that Haylee Morris assisted in the arrest.
   There is something else tho. Thru out the Courthouse, word came, there's more to the story than what's in the complaint.
   As best we can muster, one of those kicks landed squarely in Pat Morris's crotch. A direct hit none the less.  If that doesn't hurt nothing does.
  As for the pepper spray part, it sounds like a big gob of the spray wound  up back on Patrick Morris.
  Patrick did get his man but that was a tough one.
  We saw Patrick Morris later in the day on Friday the 20th. And No, his voice wasn't any higher in pitch and No, we didn't noticed his gonads bulging from his shirt pocket.
