Anna Mae Huffman, 53, of Rush Fork, Ivydale, entered into rest Saturday, December 31, 2016. Born May 16, 1963 in Grantsville, WV, she was the daughter of the Madiline (Blake) Starkey of Grantsville and the late Willard Starkey.  In addition to her father she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Patricia Lee-Ann Huffman and brother, Lewis “Bud” Starky In addition to her mother Anna is survived by her son, Brian Huffman of Martinsburg; daughters, Amber Huffman of Ivydale and Tiffany Huffman of Spencer; grand children, Autumn Lynn Fisher and Summer Ann Huffman both of Ivydale, Hannah Knight and Scotty Knight both of Five Forks, Heaven Huffman of Parkersburg, brother, David Starkey of Grantsville; sisters, Deloris “Jean” Starkey of N.C, Shirley Hosey of Grantsville, Mellissa Starkey of Spencer and Lisa Foulkes of Elizabeth; she is also survived by a special Aunt, Patricia Cunningham and several nieces and nephews.  Memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Dorothy Mae ( Harvey )Hess, 98, of Jodie, went home to be with the Lord December 30, 2016 at Montgomery General Hospital Extended Care Unit. Born on December 27, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John Scott Harvey and Martha (Morton) Harvey.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband: Lovell Hess; and son: Homer Andrew Hess. Dorothy is survived by her daughters: Nancy King of Greenville, SC., Carole Sue Compson ( Ernie) of Clifton, NV., Judith Samples (George) of Seville, OH., Dreama Truman (Roger) and Phyllis Painter both of Jodie, sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and eleven great great grandchildren.  She was a wonderful mother and great grandmother. Jonathan Foster Brown, 53, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, entered into rest Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Born June 30, 1963 in Takoma Park, MD, he was the son of Gale and Delores (Hintz) Brown of Indore. John was a teacher and head wrestling coach for 20 years at Mount Vernon High School. Connie Brown, 53, and Kadie Truman 9, of Indore, entered into rest Tuesday, December 27, 2016 after a motor vehicle accident . Connie was born April 29, 1963 in Rock Camp; she was the daughter of the late George Ramsey and Linda Perez. Hester Aileen (Price) Mink, 84, of Bickmore, entered into rest on December 27, 2016. Born August 14, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Ida (Legg) Price.  Aileen worked for the United States Postal Service for many years, and was a member of Fola Missionary Baptist Church and Dixie First Baptist Church. Aileen is survived by her son, Joseph Mink of Ligonier, IN; daughter, Lisa Franco of Fola, WV; brothers, Shannon Price of Massillon, OH, Arnold Price of Canton, OH.; sisters:Annetta Knapp of Hammerlock, NC, Gail Dunn of Fola; five grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. with service at 7:30 P.M. Alice Virginia Brannon, 83, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2016, at Eastbrook Center, Charleston.   Alice was born at Big Otter, W.Va., on March 5, 1933, to the late Raymond and Hettie Keener Rose. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She devoted her life with taking care of a daughter with special needs. She loved going to Myrtle Beach, shopping and sing gospel music. She was of the Baptist faith. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Smith. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, John W. Brannon; daughters, Susan Brannon at home, Tammy (John) Carter of South Charleston and Debra (William) Brogan of Charleston; sisters, Elvira Holcomb of Ohio, Mildred Bullard of Charleston, Ona Gray of Maysel and Bertha Jones of St. Albans; brothers, Frank Rose of Leroy, George Rose of Ovapa and Garland Rose of Ivydale; grandchildren, Alyssa Carter, Audrey and Sophie Brogan; great-grandchildren, Preston and Marissa Lynn; several nieces and nephews. Archie Cleo Moore 72 entered into rest December 23, 2016 at Montgomery General Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Bentree to the late Archie Luther, and Leona Coleman Moore on October 14, 1944. In addition to his parents, Archie was preceded in death by two brothers Charles Edwards, and George Allan (Tommy)Moore, also by his sister Brenda Moore Gates. Graveside service will be held Monday December 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Coleman Cemetery, in Bentree, WV.

Richard D. Burford, 63, of Gauley Bridge, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill surrounded by his family. Born on December 2, 1953, he was the son of the late Zane Cameron and Doris (Crowe) Burford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother; Rodney Burford, and nephew: Tracy Burford. Richard was a devoted Husband, Father, and grandfather. He was a member of Lookout Baptist Church. Richard is survived by his wife: Patricia Lynn (Hartwell) Burford; son: Christopher D. Mary Imogene (Mullins) James, 82, of Bentree, entered into rest on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. Born December 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Guy Mullins and Audra (Cadle) Mullins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. George O. James Sr.; son, Jesse W. James; brothers, Delmar G. Mullins, Elmer L. Mullins and Bobby E. Mullins.  She is survived by her son, Capt. George James Jr. of Talbotton, Ga.; daughters, Sandra G. Fairall of Looneyville, W.Va., and Cynthia K. Alstead of Brandon, Minn.; brothers, Roland A. Mullins of Lizemores, John Mullins of Ft. Tina Lynn Tanner Nottingham, 45, of Bickmore, went home to be reunited with her Grandma Ruby on Friday, December 16, 2016 after a short illness. She was born April 10, 1971. She graduated from Clay County High School and Cosmetology School.  Tina was a well-known beautician in and around the Clay County area. Survivors include her husband, Bryon Nottingham of Bickmore; son, Tanner Bryson Nottingham of Bickmore; step-daughter, Sydney D. Nottingham of Braxton County; mother, Carol Tanner Coleman of Indore; brothers, Daniel Coleman of Indore and Kevin Tanner of Lizemores.  In addition to her family, she also leaves behind an amazing number of friends and extended family members who loved her dearly. Larry Crawford Truman, Sr., 68, of Maysel entered into rest on December14, 2016. Born on February 26, 1948, in Maysel, he was the son of the late Crawford Lawrence Truman and Vernile Vaughan Truman.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles.  He was a carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Irene Burdette Truman; sons, Larry Truman, Jr. of Lexington, NC and Michael Burdette of Procious; brothers, Stanley Truman of Maysel and Okey Truman of Brunswick, OH; sister, Luella Williams of Parma, OH and 6 grandchildren. Nancy Gladeline Pritt, 75, of Clay, entered into rest December 13, 2016. Born on February 24, 1941, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Triplett.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Pritt, Sr., son, Ransom N. Chastain, and daughters, Mary June Forstoner and Misty M. Brown. She was a retired home health caregiver.  Survivors include her sons, Charles I. Chastain, of Kindell, MI and Darrell V. Pritt II of Clay; daughters, Cherie M. Earl Hubert “Poppy” Whiteside, 84, of Gauley Bridge, entered into rest on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Born July 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Ralph H. and Esther Griffin Whiteside, In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years: Patsy Long Whiteside,sonCortney Whiteside and brother: Gene Whiteside. Earl is survived by his sons: Michael (Christine) of Ft. Pierce, FL, Shawn (Cindi) of Rolesville, NC., Craig (Susan) of St. Albans, Jody (Amy) of Shrewsbury, Jeremy (Andrea) of Gauley Bridge; daughter: Lisa (Bill) McDermott of Gauley Bridge; brothers: Charles of Columbia Station, OH., Lloyd of Abingdon, VA.; sisters: Katherine Shay of Newport News, VA., Carol Bandy of Manchester, Tenn., Donna Massey of Abingdon, VA.; sixteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.  Earl was a member of Gauley Bridge Baptist Church, Ammiel Sunday School Class and Member of the Church Choir. Charles Lee Jones, 84, of Lizemores, entered into rest Thursday, December 8, 2016, at home surrounded by his family. Born on July 26, 1932, in Clay, he was the son of the late Richard C. and Margaret Bird Jones. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Alma Ruth VanMeter Jones; son, James Jones; daughter, Marilyn Stokes; brothers, Robert, Roy, Buster and Don Jones and sisters, Laureen Elliott and Loretta Jones. He was a logger and a lifetime farmer. Survivors include his sons, Jerry, Charlie, Randy, Mike, Robert, Teddy, Steve, and Tracey Jones; daughters, Linda Gritz, Nancy Johnson, Loretta Jeffrey and Rosetta Asal; brothers, Granville and Gus Jones; sister, Ethel Elliott; 30 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1  great- great-grandchild. Rebecca Lurlene Doss, 90, of Ovapa went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 1, 2016 with her children by her side. Born on August 13, 1926, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Hallie and Flora Johnson Hill.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Doss; son, Raymond Junior; brothers, Robert and Jimmy Hill and sisters, Ruth Stephenson and Betty Hill. She was a Clay County High School graduate, class of 1948, a caregiver and a member of Grannies Creek Goodwill Community Church. Survivors include her sons, John R. Doss II (Theresa) of Pisgah, Frank Doss of Ovapa and Richard Doss (Joyce) of Ovapa; daughters, Karen Sue Cutlip of Ovapa, Deborah Lynn Hutchinson of Duck, Patty R. Mahan of Big Otter (late Tom Mahan) and Leslie Lively of Dunbar; daughter-in-law, Lynn Doss of Huntington; brother, Hallie Lincoln Hill (Patricia) of Wilson Ridge; 28 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Jackie Burl King, 73, of Dayton, OH, formerly of Clay, entered into rest Sunday, November 27, 2016. Born April 4, 1943, he was the son of the late George Fuller King and PribbleDaubsenspeck King. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers; Lawrence, Roy, Kermit, Samuel, Loyd, Cody, and Jimmie and sister, Zelma. Jackie was one of the twelve children. After graduating from Clay County High School, he joined and served his country in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Dart Company for 28 years as a machinest.  He also enjoyed returning to the hills of WV to visit friends and family. Jackie is survived by sons; Morgan (Jennifer) of Fort Worth, Texas and Michael (Robin) of Dayton, OH;  grandchildren, Liam, Xander, and Emily; brother, Oscar and sisters, Jane and Kitty; an uncle to several nieces and nephews and a cousin to many. Harold Bryant Neal, 54, of Indore, entered into rest November 25, 2016. Born on October 11, 1962, he was the son of the late George Harold Neal and Delores Jackson Neal of Indore. Daniel Lee Hundley, 57, of Ivydale, went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2016. Daniel was a retired accountant from the DHHR Medical Services at the State Capitol Complex. He was a member of Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church and the adult Sunday School teacher. Daniel was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, H. D. and Elizabeth Hundley.  Survivors include his wife, Susan, and daughters, Ruth and Laura, all of Ivydale; his sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and Raymond Swaggerty, and nieces, Katherine and Heather Swaggerty, all of Daniels, WV. Daniel’s family would like to thank Dr. Goldfarb, Dr.Guyer, Dr. Hager, Dr. Hossino, Dr. Kuryla, Dr. Lough, Dr. Rahman and their staffs, and the Fresenius Dialysis Center at Chesterfield Avenue for their wonderful care of Daniel. Sharon Elaine Moore, 65, of Lizemores, went home to be with Jesus on November 22, 2016. She was born on February 9, 1951 in Gauley Bridge, WV.  Survivors include her mother, Anna Mae Gaskins of Lizemores; uncle, Naaman Moore of Lizemores; aunts, Louise Graham of Jodie,  Magdalene King  of Lizemores, Mamie Morton of Stow , OH, Della Graham of Summerville, SC and Faye Truesdale of Huger, SC.  Preceding her in death was her father, Earl Lee Gaskins, brother, Marty Lee Gaskins; uncle, Edison  Moore and aunt, Kaye Regan.   She was loved and adored by a whole host of cousins who will miss her dearly.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Adonijah, with Brother Naaman Moore and Brother Jason Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elliott Cemetery, Adonijah. Sharon “Sherry” Davis, 71, of Washington, WV, entered into rest Monday, November 21, 2016. Born August 27, 1945 in Clay, she was the daughter of the late Noble and Madge (Young) Conner. She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist church and the Eastern Star. She was a volunteer for Kids First. Hazel Leah Stover, 98, of Clay went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2016. Hazel was born in Skyles, WV, on December 1, 1917. She was a lover of poetry, music, and was an avid song writer. Hazel was an advocate of the preservation of traditional Appalachian music, and a very devout Primitive Baptist. Donald Leroy “Buggs” Cottrell, 60, of Roanoke, formerly of Ivydale, entered into rest Thursday, October 20, 2016. Mildred W. McKenzie, 87, of Ivydale, West Virginia, passed away on October 11th at 2:30 a.m. at Three Rivers Hospital in Kentucky after an extended illness.  Born August 19, 1929 at Two Run, Clay County, WV, she was the daughter of B.F. White and his wife Pearl (Bragg) White.  In addition to her parents, she was also proceeded in death by her three brothers: James E. White, Paul R. White, and Hunter S. White, and two sisters Helen G. White and Lois E. White. Mildred is survived by one sister, Sybil E. Carr of Otter Lick, WV and one brother Basil White and wife Naomi, and also many nieces and nephews. She’s also survived by one brother-in-law, Ralph White of Otter Lick, WV, and two sister-in-laws, Lucille White from Pennsylvania and Martha White from Florida.  She loved writing for the Communicator and Free Press, and she was also loved by many. Paul F. Samples, 74, of Nebo, WV passed peacefully October 13, 2016 after a long illness. He was born May 11, 1942, a son of the late Enos and Hazel Davis Samples. Paul was a devoted member of Risen Lord Catholic Church in Maysel, WV.  Paul was a graduate of Clay County High School, Class of 1960.  He participated in many sports and especially loved playing for the Panthers football team, becoming captain his senior year. After graduating, Paul moved to Buffalo, NY and worked as a machine operator for Dunlap Tire and Rubber Co. where he excelled at his job.  Any and all suggestions that Paul made to improve the quality of their products were implemented.  He was a valued employee and retired after 28 years. Paul and his wife, Paulette, returned to Clay County in 1995, where Paul got involved in raising Rocky Mountain horses until he became ill.  Paul was passionate about his family, friends, working his land and reading.  Paul was known for his quiet strength which his family so admired. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Carlos, Norman, Zane, and Joseph Samples; and sisters, Madaline Nutter, Kathleen Duesenberry, Agnes Stone, and Dessie Marie Shamblin. John C. Hill, age 89, of Rowlett, TX, formerly of Clay, WV, passed away October 3, 2016.  He was born April 6, 1927, in Ivydale, WV, to Willis Henry Hill and Lula Jane (Wood) Hill.  A graduate of West Virginia University and an alumnus of Alpha Gamma Rho, Mr. Hill also attended First United Methodist Church in Rockwall, TX.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He was a vocational agriculture teacher at Clay High School and later worked as a sales rep for the Allied Chemical and Arcadian Chemical Corporations.  Mr. Hill retired from both companies.  He and Dixie resettled in Texas in 1992, to be near their children. Mr. Hill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years: Dixie Hill; children: Dr. John Philip Hill and wife Linda of Rockwall, and Ruth Ann Hill of Rowlett; grandchildren: Rev. Sherry Caroline Henry, 54, of Uniontown, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 29, 2016 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born July 31, 1962 in Gassaway, she was the daughter of John Canfield of Harrison and the late Agusta May (Graham) Canfield.  Sherry spent her childhood and teenage years exploring the hills of Harrison; she excelled as a basketball player at Clay County high school where she graduated in 1980.  After graduating from high school, she moved to Ohio where achieved her greatest accomplishment; becoming a loving and devoted mother and homemaker.  Sherry had an infectious smile and had a heart full of love and compassion; she made it look effortless as she was able to make friends wherever she would go. Thurman Thomas Ratliff, 95,of Duck, formerly of Widen, entered into rest September 23, 2016 at his home, after a short illness. He was born March 4, 1921 in Hazard, KY a son of the late Thomas and Nancy Dobson Ratliff.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Olga Truman Ratliff; sisters, Norma Houghton, Junie Myers, Orpha Cummings; brothers, Ishmael, Charlie, Luther, Norman and Orvin; great grandson, Samuel Adam McCoy; son-in-law, Jerry R. Duffield. Surviving; sister, Enna Harvey; daughters, Connie Duffield of Strange Creek and Shelley McKown and husband, Phil of Frametown; grandchildren, Samuel Duffield and wife, Melissa, Rebekah McCoy, Philip McKown and wife, Cassie; great grandchildren, BlaneAlbrandt, Hannah and Jace Duffield, Tyler Burick, Seth, Gracie and Maddie Jo McCoy, and Carlie Rae McKown.  He was a member of the Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church of Duck for 60 years and served as an Ordained Deacon for 52 years.  He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day and later receiving a Purple Heart for injuries received from a mortar blast.  He was a coal miner, worked at Chevrolet Production Plant in Cleveland, OH, drove the Gassaway Cleaners Truck, and retired from the N.H. Dyer Health Clinic in Clay.  Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church, Duck with JR Mullins officiating.  Burial with military rites will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway. Lindy May Myers, 69, of Clendenin passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 21, 2016 of natural causes at Thomas Memorial Hospital. She was proceeded in death by her sons, Jeffrey Allen Myers, John Charles Myers; and daughter, Judy Elizabeth Bradshaw. Lindy enjoyed working on the Clay County Communicator since 1997 and ran the “did you know” column for many years. She loved fundraising for H. E. White Elementary School in Bomont including working on the famous ramp dinners. She was an avid Reader with an unending supply of books. She was a wonderful cook and loved to garden. She also would have loved to have seen Hillary Clinton become the first woman president. Vera Lea (Ramsey) Vance, 74, of Lizemores, entered in peace Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at her home surround by her family, she had a larger than life personality and trademark stubbornness that will not be forgotten. She had an overabundance of charisma, charm and feistiness, always told you the truth, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.  Vera was generous to a fault and yet she sugar coated absolutely nothing.  She had a love for gardening and  a passion for rock hunting and scavenging for treasures. Evelyn Faye (HiserLicklider, 91, of Charlton Heights, passed away suddenly Tuesday, September 13, at home. Evelyn was born in Ansted, WV on February 3, 1925, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Danity C. (Skaggs) Hiser.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings, Oscar Hiser and Doris Thorpe; and her loving husband, Grandison T. Licklider  She is survived by siblings, Boyd Hiser and Betty Neal; daughters, Marilyn Hitt (Dr. John Hitt, deceased) (Alton Fort), SuannCarelli (Harry), Betsy Grzyb, and Virginia Vance; Seven grandchildren, Teresa (Hitt) Newton (Craig), Eric Hitt, Todd Hitt, Ben Keenan (Thelma), Charles and Cameron Keenan, Steve J. Grzyb III, and Justin Licklider (Jess); six great-grandchildren, Emily Chapman, Rachel Chapman, John Newton, Matthew and Jaqueline Keenan, and Annie Keenan.  Evelyn was a creative and artistic person. Combined with her giving nature, she used these attributes to express caring for her family and community. As a young mother, she sewed most of her daughters’ clothes including prom dresses and outfits for special occasions. Later she painted ornaments for the Ronald McDonald House her tole paintings were distributed among her family and friends who were elated to receive them.  She spent several years administering care to her bedridden husband instead of placing him in assisted care.  Evelyn was an independent person and would rather “do for” her loved ones rather than having them do for her. She possessed a zest for life that kept her active until her sudden death. Jerry Clifford Sams(J.C.) 57 of Charleston passed away in his home unexpectedly on Sept. 2, 2016. He was born Aug. 20, 1959 to the late Marshall and MagdolineSamms.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 21 years, love of his life Debra Sams. His sister Rosemary Mollohan, brothers William Marshall, Buddy Leroy Samms, stepson Dana Norfolk, niece Christie Watson, and first wife and good friend Betty Dennis.  He is survived by sister Garnet Johnson, daughters Marsha Lesher and Mandy Sams, stepdaughter Jenny Norfolk-Miller, stepson Nathan Norfolk, nephews Brian and Shawn Mollohan, Chris and Phillip Johnson, 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandson,  and Special granddaughter Josie Norfolk who was always there to help take care of him. J.C. was a high school graduate of Clay County High class of 1977. Lt. Larry Keith Williams 70, of Beckley went home to be with the Lord on Thursday August 11, 2016. Born March 15, 1946 in Dundan, WV in Clay County he was the son of the late Lessell and Mary Virginia Thomason Williams.  Larry was born and raised in Clay County; he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Serving proudly during the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country, he came home and began his carrier of service to his state by becoming a West Virginia State Trooper. Larry spent the next 37 years serving detachments across Southern West Virginia, ending his carrier in 2006 at the Beckley DMV. Larry was a former Pastor at Holly River Baptist Church in Webster County, he was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and a member of the Addison Lodge of the Free Mason’s, he was a graduate of Bluefield State College, and enjoyed Birds, making knives, hunting, fishing, guns, and spending time with his family.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 2 sisters Barbara, and Ann; 3 brothers Lowell, Roger, and David; his step-son Britton Lowery.  Those left to cherish his memory, include his loving wife Sharon Williams, a grandson, whom he raised as a son James Colton Lowery, his two daughters Tammy Carpenter and husband Mark, and Robin Arthur and her husband Jimmy, 5 grandchildren, Chandler, Daniel, Cordell, Isaac and Nathaniel, 4 great grand daughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.  Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Bernard Gene Horner, 77, of Charleston, passed away at his residence on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016 after a brief illness. Bernard was born July 17, 1939 in Bridgeport, Ohio, to the late Virgil and Merle Bennett Horner. He was a lifetime member of the Charleston Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 519, in which he served as Past WV President and the Aerie President. He worked with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 132 for 35 years. Bernard loved his sternwheelers, and enjoyed bowling with the Fraternal Order of the Eagles League. He also like to hunt and fish and play softball. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Lee Horner; brothers, Robert (Delores) and Frank; and sister, Shirley Marie. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Connie (Jackie) Sizemore of Maysel and Deborah (Richard) Workman of Wallback; grandchildren, Becky Jo (Robert) Sizemore Hancock of Cottageville, Katrina (Joey) Workman Heck of Barboursville, Jennifer Workman (DericFout of Barboursville, Jack Sizemore, III of Maysel, Tracy Sizemore of Maysel and Leanna Workman (Josh) Amos of Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Brittani, Alejandra and Nicholas Hancock, Hunter and Ryan Sizemore, Chloe Heck, Dillon Workman and Colton Amos; five nieces and one nephew; and a special companion, Garnet Dearien of Dunbar, and Bobby Dearien of Dunbar and Kelsey Jacobs of Clio.  Celebration of Bernard's life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston. Douglas F. Osborne, 74, of Bickmore, entered into rest Saturday, August 13, 2016. Born July 25, 1942 in Clay, he was the son of the late Cal and Ethel Osborne.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Skidmore; brothers, Quinn and John Osborne. He taught school at Clay Elementary, Clay County High School, and was substitute teacher of Adult Basic Education (RESA III), also served as a Clay County Social Studies Supervisor.  He was a heavy equipment operator and an E.M.T.  Doug was a business owner and operator in Bickmore for many years.  He was a member of the Fola Missionary Baptist Church, and an Eagle Scout and had earned the God and Country Award.  He graduated from Morris Harvey College, and was an avid fisherman and sportsman.  Doug is survived by his wife, Janet Carper Osborne of Bickmore; daughter, Melody (Jason) Hubbard of Clay; sons, Ronald (Sharon) Holcomb of Charleston, Donald (Jan) Holcomb of Charleston; grandchildren, Shawn Osborne, Alexis Gilliland, Alivia Gilliland, Nikki Bowman, Jason Holcomb, Amber Ruby, Donald Holcomb II, Brandy Casto and Brittini Holcomb; and nine great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; brother, Robert (Donna) Osborne of Wallback; and sisters, Jewel Stalnaker of Newport News, Va., and Martha (Simpson) Neal of Bickmore. Carl Donnelly (Don) Moore passed away at home on July 22, 2016, surrounded by family and friends.   Born on May 31, 1929, he was the son of Irving and Alice McCune Moore.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Hubert (Betty) and Marvin; and his sisters, Glenna Belt and Ethel Moore; and nephew Jim Belt.  He was a graduate of Morris Harvey College and obtained a master’s degree from West Virginia University.  He taught and coached for many years and also served as assistant superintendent of Clay County Schools.  He served as the mayor of Clay, chairman of the Democratic Party and pursued many projects to improve his community.  He was a lifelong Mason and a Shriner.  He had lifelong passion for teaching, loved children and was known to his grandchildren and their friends as Daddy Don.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Avis Starcher Moore; his daughter, Vicki Cunningham Morris of Charleston and his son-in-law and dear friend, Ira Morris; grandsons, Ryan Cunningham of Charleston, Barry Cunningham (JT) of Dublin, Ohio; and great- grandson Chance.  He is also survived by step grandchildren, David, Matt and Joel Morris of California; and Rachel Regan of Maryland; and great- grandchildren, Nicole, Collin and Erin. Johnny Dale Drake, 69, of O’Brion Creek, Duck, died July 10, 2016 at Clay Health Care Center, Big Otter. He was born May 14, 1947 in Clay County a son of the late Dora Boggs Morris and Lloyd Johnny Drake. Linsey Jolene Cruickshanks, 31, of Clay, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 5, 2016, as a result of an automobile accident. Linsey was a graduate of Clay County High School and attended Glenville State College.  She worked for the Bank of Gassaway and Michael Motor Company, but for the past four years, Linsey devoted her life to her young son. Ruby Lane, 98, of Bickmore passed into eternal rest Thursday, May 26, 2016,surrounded by her loving family. She was the most wonderful mother and grandmother in the world. She took care of her children, when she had to do without and never complained. Born July 17, 1917 in Clay, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Annie Brown. Roger Clarence White, 68, ofFrametown, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, April 30, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 12, 1947 in Clay, he was the son of the late Harley White and Ethel "Cricket" (Smith) White. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother, John. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl (Croft) White of Frametown; son, Brett White of Morgantown; daughter, Kelly White of Lorain, Oh; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Jesse, and Jason.  Roger served proudly in the United States Army during the conflict in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. He was a master electrician and spent 15 years at American Steel and Wire in Cleveland, Oh. Roger worked for numerous companies throughout the state of West Virginia and was a proud member of IBEW Local 26 Electrical Workers Union. He had a deeply held work ethic and loved his profession. He worked tirelessly until his retirement in 2014. Roger was voracious reader of westerns and an avid sportsman. He loved his home in West Virginia and never felt more comfortable than on his family farm in Frametown. Per Roger's wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest at little Laurel Baptist Church in Ivydale next to his parents and many relatives. There will be no services. Frank Lee Smith, 89, of Wilmington, NC, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.Born in Newton, WV, March 24, 1927, he was the son of the late James F. Smith and Geneva RogersSmith. Frank proudly served his country in the US Navy where he was a signalman on theescort aircraft carrier USS Point Cruz during WWII. He is a 1949 graduate of WVU Institute of Technology. Frank lived many years in Bedford, VA, where he was an Assistant Product Sales Manager for Rubatex Corporation. Frank was an avid Civil War enthusiast and could detail its history in vivid color. He loved to hunt and fish and had a great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by two brothers Ralph and Curtisand one sister Kathleen. John Andrew "Newy" Harvey, 41, of Jodie, passed away at his home in the early hour of Saturday, April 23, 2016, after a long illness. Born February 27, 1975, he was the son of Don Harvey and the late Elizabeth (Dotson) Harvey. John was a graduate of Gauley Bridge High School, and spent many years serving his community as a volunteer firefighter and as an EMT. Shortly after graduating high Shool he joined the Navy, where he served as a hospital corpsman. John had three major loves in his life that he was dedicated to with a passion; his family, particulary his children, medicine and music. Up until death he was pursuing a degree to become an osteopathic physician and he had been a talented musician since he was a teenager. John was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Harvey, and both sets of grandparents. In addition to his father, he is survived by a daughter, Keelyn Harvey, and son, Liam Harvey, both of Gauley Bridge; brother, Anthony "Tony" Harvey (Becky) of Eleanor; sisters, Tamala "Tammy" Johnson of Jodie and Barva Queen (Tracy) of Charlton Heights; as well as many extended family members and friends. John wished to be cremated and that his ashes be interred at Rich Creek Cemetery, near his mother's graveside. James “Jamie” Douglas Hackney II, 42, of Beech Glen, passed away Thursday,  April 21, 2016, at his home in Beech Glen. Born on April 7, 1974, he was the son of and the late James D. Eileen Ernestine (Willis) Holliday, passed away on April 18, at the age of 95, at the Hubbard Hospice in Charleston, WV after a long illness.  Eileen was a long time resident of Boomer, WV. Eileen Willis was born on March 16, 1921 in Lansing, WV, the youngest of the 10 children born to the late William E. Willis and Georgia (Fox) Willis.  She had many fond memories growing up as part of a large family on a farm and attending the one room Graydon School.  She grew up during the Great Depression and her family was not wealthy, but she and her family were happy.  They lived close to the land and had a clear idea about what was real and important in life.  Eileen graduated from Ansted High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia Tech in 1943, and began a teaching career at Clay High School that lasted nearly 40 years and included full time or substitute teaching at most schools in the area.  She spent many years at Ansted High School.   She loved teaching and worked hard to find creative ways to engage her students in the learning process. Eileen was strong, independent, optimistic, determined and creative. She enjoyed singing, playing piano and harmonica, sketching and writing poems. Eileen married Lexie O. Holliday, a World War 2 veteran, on June 1, 1946 and they moved into their home, at Boomer, soon afterward, where they enjoyed 52 loving years together.  They attended Boomer Methodist Church for many years, where Eileen was baptized and taught Sunday School classes. From the early 1970s they attended Boomer Baptist Church.   Eileen is survived by her son; Dr. Shannon Holliday, his wife Natalia (Ivanovna) Holliday, and granddaughter Sophia Holliday of Gainesville FL.  Eileen’s niece Joyce Ann McLaughlin was a special friend and helper to Eileen during the last years of her life. She was also thankful for the many good neighbors in Boomer. In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband; Lexie O. Michael Edward Knopp, Sr., ofLugoff, S.C., formerly of Clendenin, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and June Knopp, and a sister, Vada Murdock. Mike was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was also a pilot.  A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 2, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, S.C. Gary E. Cox, of Teays Valley and Charleston, went home to be with the Lord March 31, 2016, at CAMC Memorial Division. He was born December 29, 1939, to the late Ardie and Amma Canfield Cox. He was also preceded in death by his brother and wife, Dennis and Barbara Cox of Hurricane; sister and husband, Loretta Cox Young and Delmas Young. Gary was a member of the Bible Center Church in Charleston and was a 1958 graduate of Clay Co. High School where he never lost his love for his Clay County friends. He also was a graduate of WV State College. He retired from Union Carbide in 1992 and also retired from the City of Charleston in 2002. Left to cherish his memory, loving wife of almost 50 years, Lucy Cox; sons, of which he was extremely proud of and enjoyed spending time with, Darrick Cox of Belle and Darren Cox and his wife, Claudia of Teays Valley; granddaughters, Kala and Katelynn Cox, that brought much enjoyment to his life. Beckie Ellen (Morris) Johnson, formerly of Woodsfield OH, passed away peacefully on March 25,at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta Ohio. Beckie was born January 8, 1921 to the late Frank Morris and Lucy Mae (James) Morris in Ivydale WV. She is survived by (1) brother Charles L. Morris of Wallback WV; (2) sisters Virginia Chapman of Servia WV and Marie Tucker of Beckley WV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold K. Johnson who passed away in May 16, 2005 as well as ( 4) brothers – Orrville Morris – Pete Morris – Wilber Morris and Pat Morris and (1) sister Rose (Morris) LambeyBeckie is survived by (1) brother; Charles L. Morris of Wallback WV and (2) sisters; Virginia Chapman of Servia WV and Marie Tucker of Beckley WV. As well as several nieces and nephews. Beckie lived an interesting life. She survived the great depression, she left WV right after graduating high school and went to Maryland and joined the world war II war effort by working in a bomb factory.  Being as that was a little dangerous, Beckie moved on to Akron Ohio and began working in an aircraft factory building planes for the war.  While in Akron, she met her husband Harold K. Johnson- they were married September 15, 1945. After working in Akron for several years they retired and moved to a farm in Monroe Co. Ohio. They both loved the farm life and lived there over 50 years.  After her husband’s death and declining health, Beckie moved in with her niece Brenda Duncan and husband Tony in Amesville OH where she lived out her remaining days. Family only graveside funeral services will be held at on Wednesday, March 30, at McLaughlin Cemetery in Ivydale WV.

Larry Robert Miller, 73, of Elkview, died peacefully at home on March 22, 2016.   Born on August 16, 1942 in Sutton, he was the son of the late Burlien C. and Lucille A. Miller.   He graduated from Gassaway High School in 1960.  Larry served our country in the United States Army, and was a Vietnam veteran.    Larry was employed by The Kroger Company for several years.  He spent the majority of his career working in the oil and gas industry, and retired from Columbia Natural Resources in 2000.  After retiring, Larry remained a well-respected figure in the oil and gas industry, working as an independent consultant until 2013.   Larry was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Clendenin Lodge No. 126, a member of the BeniKedem Shrine Temple, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed RV traveling and motorcycling with his wife, Martha, and many friends.  He was a NASCAR fan, and looked forward to his annual trips to Bristol with his son, L.R., and their friends.  Larry’s joy was complete upon the birth of his three grandchildren, and he cherished his visits with them like nothing else.  Larry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Martha K. Miller; children, Larry Robert Miller II, of Charleston, and Carol Janai Miller Jansons, of Newburgh, IN; brother, Ronald B. Miller and his wife, Marlene, of Wooster, OH; sister, Carol R. Okey Darrel Shamblin, age 81, passed away on March 2, 2016 at his home in Williamstown, KY after a long battle with cancer. Born July 28, 1934 at Elkhurst, W.V. He was one of eleven children of William A (Bill) and Sarah (Lyons) Shamblin. Okey was a Korean War Veteran. As a certified welder he worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. For many years he was a owner, operator, truck driver. After retirement Okey moved to Kentucky and bought a farm. He was a member of the Free & Accepted Mason's #777 Harrodsurg, Ky. and Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union Local #430.   He was proceeded in death by his parents, three brothers: Virgil, Delmar, Perry Shamblin; three sisters: Ruby Jamison, Jesse Thompson, Sylvia Isaacs. Surviving are his ex-wife, Jean (French) Shamblin, a daughter, Tina (Brian) Bradshaw, one grandson, Tyler Rhoades, of Okla.; two brothers Junior Shamblin of Glasgow, Ky, Roscoe (Carol) Shamblin of Girard, Oh; two sisters: Clarice Parsons of Hubbard, Oh, Shirley (James) King Ovapa, W.V. Jeremy Blake Ferrebee, 30, of Clay, died tragically on Friday, March 18, 2016. Born August 6, 1985 in South Charleston, he was the son of Janet Ferrebee and Sammy Taylor. Charles James Tucker, 76, of Dixie, went home to be with his family on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Born November 26, 1939 in Mt. Olive, to the late James and Nina (Thompson) Tucker. In addition to his parent he was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.  Charley was a retired iron worker and help build the Subway system in Washington, D.C.  He had a love for people and the outdoors and never met a stranger. Laurance Jones (from Charleston newspaper article) Laurance Jones III, the brother of Charleston Mayor Danny Jones, died unexpectedly Thursday [Feb 25 2016] . He was 60 years old. Jones had served on the Clay Center Board of Directors since July 2008, following his appointment to the board by then-Gov. Joe Manchin. He also chaired the board’s Program Committee.  “He’s been a very active board member and was dedicated to the mission of the Clay Center,” Al Najjar, the center’s president and CEO, said Friday. Najjar said Jones attended the Clay Center’s board meeting Thursday morning.  Danny Jones did not want to comment Friday on his brother’s death. Laurance Jones was a resident of Looneyville, in Roane County, said his cousin, Andrew Jordon, of Charleston. While attending George   Washington High School, Jones worked at a service station on Bridge Road, where he earned the nickname “Wrench,” Jordon said. “As a kid, I remember he would stop by my house on the way to George Washington and give me a ride to school,” Jordan said. “It was always an adventure going to school with Laurance.”   Jones also spent time as a dealer at a casino in Las Vegas and also worked as a radio disc jockey, Jordon said. While he had no children of his own, Jones was an avid supporter of the Childhood Language Center in Charleston, where he also served on the board. “He was very generous to things he was passionate about,” Jordon said, noting that Jones had his own struggles with speaking when he was a child. Jones also was involved with the Scottish Rite Temple, in Charleston, and enjoyed traveling and playing golf, Jordon said. Funeral arrangements were not known Friday night.

Jerome Richard Novobilski, 69, of Clay, entered into rest Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Born on May 22, 1946, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late Andrew and Frances (Kushpa) Novobilski. He was a longtime Clay county attorney and public defender for the area.  He was also an avid photographer, taking picture of festivals and fairs in Clay. Robert “Bob” L. Bell, 91, Gauley Bridge, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Kobacker House in Columbus, Oh., Born on June 5, 1924 in Carbondale, he was the son, of Clay and Nola Bell.  In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Eunice and nine siblings. He was a proud veteran, serving in World War II as a navigator in the United States Army/Air Force.  A resident of Charlton Heights, Bob served as president of the Gauley National Bank in Gauley Bridge, for many years, until retiring in 1987.  Bob is survived by his sons, Robert Bell and Julian Bell (wife, Robin); granddaughter, Mackenzie Bell; many beloved nieces, nephews and family members from the Derrick and Bell families and friends.  The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 AM to 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Pennington Funeral Home, 331 Main Street, Gauley Bridge, WV. Melodie Kay McCune, 59, of Duck, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 6, 2016 after a year-long battle with cancer.  Born on May 4, 1956, in Lorain, Ohio, she was the daughter, of the late Charles and Violet (SandorTrinemeyer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Trinemeyer Jr. Melodie was a 1974 graduate, of Marion L. Steele High School. She briefly attended Kenyon College to pursue a degree in visual arts. After school, she worked at US Steel for 18 years as an inspector and safety captain in its Rolling Mill Conditioning Department, where she ran the United Way program. Melodie, then, worked at Avon Lake Animal Clinic. Melodie enjoyed cooking, baking and had a love for animals. She loved being around her friends and family. Melodie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Charlie L. McCune of Duck; her children, Phillip Paul Steffani Jr. of Trenton, N.J., Steven Charles McCune of Lorain, Ohio, Crystal Lynn McCune Hunt of Columbus, Ohio, Amy Jo McCune Berry of Medina, Ohio, Eric Charles McCune of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren and siblings: Risë Davis of Avon, Ohio, Daniel Trinemeyer of Amherst, Ohio, Eric Trinemeyer of Tennessee and William Trinemeyer. 2016  Homer S. Morton, 83, of Lizemores, departed this life on February 1, 2016. He was the last surviving of 8 children, born to Fred and Nona Keeney Morton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Homer was retired from Valley Camp Coal and Morton Trucking. He was a member of Belle Creek Missionary Baptist Church. James L. “Jim” Ward, 69, of Spencer, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at his home.  He was born July 9, 1946 at Montgomery, a son of the late George E. and Dorothea Sizemore Ward.  Jim was a retired program coordinator for the State of West Virginia. He was a 1964 graduate of Clay County High School. Jim earned his Bachelor’s Degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology and his Master’s Degree from Marshall University. He was Chairman of the Clover Public Service District and a Board Member of the Clover Volunteer Fire Department.  Survivors include his wife, Louise A. Ward of Spencer; son, Trenton L. Robert Allen ‘Bob’ Nuttallof Falls View, son of the late Elsie L. Allen & Norman I. Nuttall of East Providence RI, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on the 14th of January after many months battling multiple myeloma.  Survivors include his wife of 56 years Shirley Wyatt, daughter Kathleen Crawford (Terry), of Clewiston, FL, sons Kenneth (Molly), David (Cathy), and Dale, sister Claire E. Wesloh (Kenneth) of Austin, TX, and cousin Norman A. Pierce (Cindy) of Darrien, CT, 5 brother/sister in-laws, 9 grandchildren (1 predeceased) , and multiple grand-nieces and nephews.  Bob was a loving husband, father, faithful servant, ‘super neighbor’, mentor, and engineer.  He graduated from Brown University in 1958 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and retired from Elkem Metals (formerly Union Carbide) in 1995 after 28 years of service.  Well known in the community, Bob was a member of the Charlton Heights / River View United Methodist Church from 1968, served 49 years in the Gauley Bridge Lions Club, over 35 years in leadership positions, and numerous roles as supporter to others throughout the Upper Kanawha Valley.  As a sports enthusiast rooted in his college days playing basketball, he was a fan of GBHS sports teams throughout his children’s 15 year span at the school, and beyond.  Bob loved golfing and played well into his retirement years – Hawks Nest Country Club was his ‘second home’.  Scouting was also a passion having served as Scout Master for Troop 141 for many years.  Funeral arrangements will be handled by Pennington Funeral Home in Gauley Bridge, WV.  Services will be held on Friday, January 22nd at the funeral home, visitation beginning at 1:00 pm, with the service following at 2 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to your local Lions Club to support their efforts to be ‘Knights of the Blind’. Philip N. Pennington, 79 of Clay, formerly of Hurricane, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital after a brief illness. Born on July 18, 1936, in Charleston, he was the son of the late Jack and Martha (Stanley) Pennington, of Hurricane.  Phil was a retired school teacher, with 29 years of experience, from Kanawha County Board of Education.   He served in the ROTC at West Virginia State College, and later became a captain in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his son Phillip Pennington. Also preceding him were his siblings, Mavis (Peggy) Pennington, Stan Pennington, Penny Eldred, June Mosteller, Elizabeth Hazel. Phil is survived by his loving wife, Wanda (Salisbury) Pennington of Clay; son, Charles H. and wife Denise Pennington, of New Market, AL; daughter, Ann and husband David Cooper of Jacksonville, FL; and two grandsons Matthew Tabler of Jacksonville, FL and Garrett Pennington of New Market, AL. Phil was a lifelong active Republican who is credited with countless campaign successes for both Democrats and Republicans in and around Hurricane, where he and his wife were active members in the Republican Club.  He believed in electing the best person for the job who would make the community and state a better place to live. He did not hesitate to share his love of mathematics both in the classroom, and with his nieces and nephews.  He enjoyed studying history, and loved the outdoors, especially gardening. Mark Edward Griffith, 62, of Belle, passed away on the evening of Jan. 6, 2016, after his long fight with pancreatic cancer. He fought this disease since being diagnosed in 2012 with the assistance of the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia. Mark's positive attitude about his struggle with cancer was inspirational to all who knew him. He remained positive about his situation through his many trips to Philadelphia over the past 4 years. Mark was born in Gassaway and spent most of his childhood in Dille, W.Va. His family moved to Hancock, Md. in 1964. He then moved to Berkeley Springs, in 1967, where he attended Berkeley Springs High School. He was married to the love of his life, Vicki Lynn Facemire in Va. Mark worked multiple jobs over the years - at one time owning his own tractor trailer, operating his own service station, and spending many years working in the coal industry in various capacities. Mark finally found his calling with the West Virginia Society for the Blind, working with blind vendors across the state. Mark retired from the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services as a business counselor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three grandsons and granddaughter. He studied extensively and was well versed in old cars, old music, old movies, and anything else "aged."  Mark was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Griffith Jr.; his mother, Leona Gates Griffith; and his brother, David Marshall Griffith.  Mark is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Vicki Lynn Griffith; his son, Matthew and his wife, April and their two children, Zachary (9) and Natalie (4) of Pocatalico; his son, Jonathan and his wife, Callie and their two children, Lucas (6) and Liam (3) of Charleston; and his brother, Theodore (T.G.) Gates Griffith and his wife, Joyce Ann Griffith (sister of Vicki) of Dille, W.Va. and their three daughters, Leanne, Andrea, and Amanda and their families. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Billy Gene Facemire and Wanda Facemire of Dille, W.Va. with whom he spent much time and shared many memories; his two brothers-in-law, Billy Gene Facemire (Pam) and Frankie Facemire (Valerie); and sister-in-law, Debbie Browning (Charley); and many nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces. Dottie Dortha Miller Cardillo, 62, of Procious, WV, passed away peacefully at Clay Health Care Center in Big Otter, WV on Thursday, December 31, 2015. Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Andy & Lena Miller, and her husband, Vinnie Cardillo Jr.  Dottie is survived by her companion of 11 years, Billy Deems, of Procious, WV, stepdaughter, Nichole Cardillo of Woonsocket, RI, her beloved dogs, Tipsy & Teddy Bear, several cousins and many many dear friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, WV. Friends may call from 12:00pm-2:00pm with funeral service & burial following visitation. Dottie will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Vinnie, at Wilding Cemetery, Ravenswood, WV.

Maxine Katherene (Lyons) Drake, 74, of Ivydale, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 1, 2016. Born September 24, 1941 in Rush Fork, she was the daughter of the late James and Minora (May) Lyons. Maxine is survived by her husband, Earnest Drake ; sons, Robert Drake of Ivydale, Dewey Drake of Portersville, PA ; daughters, Tammie L. Drake of Ivydale, and Angela Kern of Portersville, PA; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren. Maxine is also survived by one brother Thomas Lyons, of Big Otter.  Graveside Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Sunday January 3, 2016 in Starcher Cemetery, Big Otter, WV.
