Dec 27 2015  Ruby Olive (Fields) West, 83, of Wallback, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2015. Born on September 28, 1932, in Roane County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nina (Summers) Fields.  Ruby is survived by her son, Curtis West of Clay; daughters, Karen Dye of Frazier Bottom, Phyllis Cruickshanks and Cecilia West both of Wallback; four grandchildren and two great-children; brothers, Harald Fields of Big Otter and Jim Fields of Kingwood; and sister, Wanda Shamblin of Corton.  Graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Aneedra Carol Hamrick, 72, of Canvas, entered into rest Thursday, December 24, 2015. Born on October 23, 1943, in Clay County,   she was the daughter, of the late Adrian “Punch” and Juanita (Ramsey) Legg.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl  Lee Hamrick. Patricia Ann (Ferrell) Hayes, 66, of Belva entered into rest December 22, 2015 at Montgomery. Born on October 28, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Martha Ferrell.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husband,Glen R. Hayes. Dec 23  2015  Dorvil Harold Taylor, 76, of Lizemores, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 20, 2015. Born June 6, 1939, in Leatherwood, he was the son, of the late Willie and Flossie (Morris) Taylor.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Denzil, Darrell, Duvil, Dwayne, Drexel, and sister, Mona Jeffers. He was a coal miner for 32 years. Dorvil is survived by his wife, Wanda Taylor; children and spouses, Harold (Robin) Taylor, Ritchie (Stephanie) Taylor, Melissa (Mike) Bohan, and Regina (Tim) Blankenship; brother, Doyle Taylor; sisters, Zona Rader, Theda Dailey and Karen Boggs; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Dec 21   Barbara Triplett Blankenship, 79, of Indore, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 18, 2015. Born September 27, 1936 in Widen, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Jarvis) Triplett.  Barbara is survived by her husband, James Blankenship; sons, Richard W. Triplett, Samuel D. Nottingham, John J. Nottingham, Ronnie L. Nottingham and William D. Nottingham; daughters, Sandra L. Edwards, Kimberly N. Lyons and Trina J. Dec 10 2015  Noel Clark Smith, 83, of Ivydale, entered into rest Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Born November 11, 1932 in Clay, he was the son of the late Orville and Elma (Fitzwater) Smith.  In addition to his parents Noel was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Smith.  Noel is survived by his sons, David Smith, Raymond Smith, Kenny Smith all of Ivydale, Donvil Smith of Clendenin; daughter, Mary Smith of Ivydale; brothers, Keith Smith of Moundsville; Bob Smith of Eastlake, Ohio, sisters, Millie Miller of Smithville, Ohio, Sharon Mullins of Pigeon and Nola Donavic of Willoughby, Ohio;  11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Dec 10 2015  Everett McKinley Murphy JR , 87, of Greenbank, passed away December 9, 2015 at Montgomery General Hospital. He was Born September 29, 1928 to the late Everett and Cleo Murphy. Everett was owner and operator of Murphy's Petrolum in Fayette Co. Everett was proceded in death by his parents, Wife: Rose Persinger Murphy and Twin Sons: Michael and Mitchell Murphy. Everett is survived by his son Timothy Everett ( Cynthia) Murphy of Maple Heights, OH; daughters Cathy (Jim) Darling of Montgomery, Joy (Howard) Stansberry of Raeford, NC. Step Children Garett Persinger of Athens, WV and Sharon Beth Persinger of New Paltz, NY; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Several Nieces and nephews. Dec 9 2015   Darlie Gay Wolfe, 69, of Ravenswood passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital following a long illness. She was born July, 28, 1946 in Clay County, a daughter of the late John and Tina Duffield Beasley. Darlie enjoyed her flowers and loved listening to her favorite artist, Charley Pride. She will be remembered as being a very giving person.She is survived by her daughters; Kathy (Kevin) Boyd of Crestline, OH, Beverly Adams of Charleston, WV, Tina Wolfe of Ravenswood, WV, and Susan Davies(Jeff) of Ohio; brothers Billy Beasley of Ivydale, WV; sisters Katy Gardner of Stafford Springs, CT, Vannie Harbert of Nitro, WV, Dorothy Summers of Orville, OH, and Mary Cranmore of Ashland, OH; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by lifelong friend David Fisher. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by brothers Johnny Beasley and Bobbie Beasley. Nov 30 2015  Harlan Mark Taylor, 44, of Bickmore, entered into rest Sunday, November 29, 2015. Born December 22, 1970, in Fayette, he was the son, of Carl and Debrah (Holcomb) Taylor of Bickmore. Harlan was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ryann Critchley, grandmothers, Anne Ramsey and Irene Taylor; grandfathers, Jack Holcomb and Harvey Taylor.  He loved to hunt, fish and spend time in the woods and with his grandson.  In addition to his parents, Harlan is survived by his daughter, Deanna Critchley , grandson, Trystan Critchley both of Layland; his companion Terri Williams of Bickmore; brother, Billy Joe (Judy)Taylor of Bickmore; and sister, Mary Moore of Maysel; step- children, Amanda McCommas, Charlie McCommas both of Bickmore. Pebble Gay Adkins, 77, of Ivydale, loving mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 29, 2015 surrounded by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and loved ones. Pebble was a member of the VFW Ladies auxiliary. She worked as a substitute cook in the Clay County Schools, and worked with the Head Start Program. She was a cashier at Shirl’s Grocery and was a personal caregiver. She was a member of the Ivydale Methodist Church.  She was the daughter, of the late Oscar and Vannie (Elswick) Adkins. In addition to her parents, Pebble was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bennie, Eddie, William (Bud), and Cecil Adkins; sisters, Bertha Cutlip.  Pebble is survived by her four daughters, Jo Ann (Roy) Cottrell, Betty Jo (Randy) Ramsey, Linda June (Richard) Cadle, Brenda Neff (Jessie) Grose; brother, Harley (Budgie) Adkins; grandchildren, Missy Dawn, Donnie, Richie, Timmy, Bunky, Shane, Jason, Eric, Lindsay, Jessica, AJ, Roy Jr., Michelle; great-grandchildren,  Kalep, Charlie, Brayden, Sydney, Zaden, Kayden, Brooke, Christopher, Dalton, Ryan, McKenna; several nieces and nephews; special nieces, Sherry Hicks, Grace Tallhamer, Joyce Lewis; special lifelong claimed daughter; Lisa Murphy; special claimed daughter and loving caregiver, Sharon Baughman. Dallas Lee Stutler, 77, of Ivydale, entered into rest Friday, November 27, 2015. Born February 9, 1938 in Charleston, he was the son of the late Robert Earl and Margie (Carte) Stutler.  Dallas was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Kathleen (Myers) Stutler; great granddaughter, Savannah Jane; three brothers, Robert (Bob) Stutler, Thomas Henry Stutler, and Richard (Dick) Stutler. Dallas is survived by his companion, Barbara G Smith. His sons, Walter (Shelly) Stutler, Henry (Elaine) Stutler, Jason (Carol) Stutler, all from Ivydale,  Don (Cathy) Stutler Of Wallback WV Dallas (Annie) Stutler of Floyd, VA and Tony (Tina) Comer of Jacksonville, FL;, four sisters; 20 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.  Dallas worked most of his adult life for the county of Clay and the State of West Virginia, with many years of dedicated service. He spent his retirement years enjoying his family and friends especially with his Grandchildren.    Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Born on January 31, 1952, in Alta, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Irlena Humphrey Pullen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Gene Pullen and his sisters, Drema Foster and Opal Taylor. He was a retired welder. Survivors include his daughters, Angela (Shane) Lawson of Sophia, Anna Pullen of Lakewood, OH and Jessica Pullen of Maumee, OH; sisters, Audrey Priest of Victor and Nancy Huddleston of Cannelton and 5 grandchildren. Kent Duane Boggs of Boulder, CO passed away on Nov 13 2015. He was 93. Kent was born on January 2, 1922 in Porter West Virginia to Cornelius T Boggs and Maysel Crowder Boggs. He graduated from Clay High and then attended a National Youth Administration Camp in 1940 and 1941 for on the job training in woodwork and radio. Kent enlisted in the US Army Signal Corp in Nov 1942 and served in the European Theatre and engaged in four major battles. Kent is survived by his wife Francis, children Laura Boggs Urbain and James Boggs, sister Eloise J Boggs, grandchildren Travis Boggs, Dexter Boggs, Richard Boggs, Melissa Urbain, Melinda Urbain and Miranda Shoats. He was preceded in death by sons Roger, Richard,  Chip, parents CT and Maysel and brothers Blake and Keith.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm Friday Nov 20, 2015 at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Pl, Boulder CO 80301. Nov 22 2015  Virginia (Patty) C. Sizemore, age 85 a resident of Philippi, WV passed away November 21, 2015 at her residence.  She was born August 26, 1930, in Clendenin a daughter of the late Herbert and Lona (Pritt) Price.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Woodson H. Sizemore; two grandchildren, Rhonda Sue Sizemore and JW Sizemore; one brother, Ray Price; and one sister, Eloise Harrison-Terry.  Surviving are children, Betty Jo Sizemore of Philippi, Bruce (Sheila) Sizemore of Liverpool, TX, Barry “Butch” Sizemore of Ormond Beach, FL, and Charles Huddleston of Covington, VA; grandchildren, Tina (John) Jamison and Sarah (Daniel) Boyd both of Alvin, TX; great-grandchildren, Riley Jamison; Jesse and Cheyenne Boyd; brother, Paul Price, Denver, CO; sister, Sue Harrison of Rio, WV; numerous nieces and nephews.   Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Nov 14 2015   Mary Helen Morris, 83, of Gauley Bridge, WV died peacefully at Montgomery General Elderly Care surrounded by her family on November 13, 2015 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was a daughter and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary Helen was born on December 22, 1931 in Webster Springs, WV. She was the daughter of the late Minter D. Cogar and Gay Cogar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald L. Morris, her sister, Tiny Jean Massie and sisters-in-law Peggy Cogar and Freda Cogar, her brothers, Gerald Cogar, Darrell Cogar and Harold Cogar, brothers-in-law, William Massie, James Vance, Rev. Don Walker and William Morris. Infant Granddaughter Morris and her Great-Grandson Alexander Thomas Mitchell. Mary Helen strongly believed in her Christian Values and her strong professional work ethics. She graduated from Nicholas County High School in 1944. She joined the Gauley Bridge Baptist Church in 1949 where she was a very active member teaching Sunday School, serving as Assistant Treasurer and was the Vacation Bible School Coordinator for many years. Mary Helen's first job was at Valley Bell Ice Cream. She began her teaching career in a "One Room School House" located on Little Sycamore Creek. She started taking classes at Morris Harvey College in 1949 and graduated in 1962 with a B.A. in Elementary Education and later went on to finish her Masters Plus 30. She taught at Jodie Elementary from 1955-1957 and then began teaching at Gauley Bridge Elementary in September 1957. In 1984 she became the Principle of Gauley Bridge Elementary and Middle School later retiring in 1989. She continued to work as a substitute teacher and would volunteer to read to the students at the Elementary School. She truly loved teaching and loved all of her students and faculty. Mary Helen is survived by two sisters; Marie Walker of Ripley, WV and Jo Ann Vance of Sanford, NC, one sister-in-law Norma Morris of Ashland, KY; her children Edgar (Rebecca) Morris of Gauley Bridge, WV; Robert (Dee Ann) Morris of Fountain Inn, SC , James (Tamera) Morris of Conway, SC.; Mary (Robert) Scott of Gauley Bridge, WV; grandchildren; Eddie (Nicole) Morris, Jennifer (Nathan) Mitchell, Elizabeth (Nathan) Ball, Ashley (John) Sagona, Bradley Morris, Matthew Morris, Logan Scott, and fiance' Eriel Holstine, great-grandchildren: Hillary Claire Mitchell, Nicholas Cooper Ball, Mary Maclaine Ball, Jacob Sagona, Claire Sagona, Maylee Morris, and many nieces and nephews. Avis Leonard Burdette, 79, of Procious, went into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston. He was the son of the late Adam Webster "Web" Burdette and Lizzy Maude Starcher Burdette. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Brooks, Clyde, Harold and Blaine, and his only sister, Ola Virginia Burdette Davis, all formerly of Procious. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and -nephews.  As a younger man, Leonard spent his time farming and working for the West Virginia Department of Highways in Clay.  Leonard will be laid to rest with a graveside service at Sams Cemetery, Procious, on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. His nephew, Pastor Douglas Burdette, will be officiating. Nov 3 2015  Mary Louise Brannon Douglas, 87, of Ivydale, entered into rest Saturday, October 31, 2015. Born April 17, 1928 in Widen, she was the daughter of the late M.H. “Rance” and Etta (Smarr) Brannon. Mary Lou is survived by her sons, James Wilson Douglas of Sutton/Charleston, and Wayne B. Douglas of Ivydale; grandchildren, Jennifer Louise Douglas, Jennifer Lenore Douglas (Nate) Walker, of Charleston, Dr. Justin Wayne (Jillian) Douglas of Lewisburg and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jarod James (Miriam) Douglas of Wheeling; sister, Elizabeth (Fred) Sampson of Ivydale and brother, John (Alice) Brannon of Charleston; five great- grandchildren. Mary Lou was a 77 year member of the Big Otter Baptist church in Ivydale, where, in 1979, she tolled the church bell every day for the 444 days that the American hostages were held captive in Iran for which she was later recognized  by the late WV Secretary of State A. James Manchin.  Mrs. Douglas was also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  The Clay County native graduated from Clay County High School in 1945 and she attended Glenville State College.  During her working career, Mrs. Douglas taught school at Mountain Home (Ivydale) and retired in 1992 with 30 years service as the Ivydale Postmaster.   Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. ,Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Big Otter Baptist Church, Ivydale, with Reverend John Cole officiating.  Burial will be in the Douglas Cemetery, Ivydale. Nov 1 2015  Harriette “TT” Virginia Smarr Sizemore, 92, of Dixie, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, October 30, 2015, with husband and family by her side. She was the second born February 20, 1923 in Belva; she was the daughter of the late Harry and Bertha (Hill) Smarr. She was also preceded in  death by her sisters, Billy Burke Smarr, Betty Perry Clonch, Helen “Dimple” Drennen, Hope Elswick and Joann Woods and her brother, Harry “Corky” Smarr. Harriette is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 74 years, OT (Thearold) Sizemore; daughter, Virginia “Jenny” Mikula (Joe) of Sunrise, Florida; son; Ted Sizemore (Diane) of Port Richey Florida; sister, Mona Baker (Charley) of Dixie; sister-in-law Peggy Smarr of Fayetteville; special niece/caregiver Judy Cogar; grandson, Tait Sizemore (Sugar) of Alta; great-grandson (twins) Sean and Seth Sizemore; great-granddaughter, Bella Sizemore; step- great-granddaughter Alyson Westfall (Corey); step- great-great granddaughters, Kiera and Olivia Westfall; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. She was a Christian and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Dixie where she served faithfully as secretary/ treasurer until the time of her illness. Harriette was retired United States Post Master with twenty three years of service. Her compassion was being a 60 plus member of the Dixie COMMUNITY EDUCATIONAL OURTREACH SERVICE (CEOS which was formerly called Farm Women’s Club and Dixie Extension Homemakers).  Harriette exemplified grace under pressure and weathered challenges, in life, with incredible resilience.  That resilience was an inspiration and comfort for others.  She took particular care to stay connected to family and friends and served as the family historian and conduit for communication among families and generation.  Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 2, 2015 at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Pastor Jeff Sevy officiating.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Gardens, Victor. Oct 18 2015   Clem Osburn, 83, of Lizemores, went home Friday, October 16, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born June 7, 1932, in Bickmore, he was the son of the late Randolph Bib and Marilda Osborne.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Forrest, Vance and John, sisters, Ruth, Zela and baby girl Osborne. Clem served his country in the U.S. Navy as storekeeper G second Class aboard the USS Surfbird and USS Condor, 1951 to 1955.  He was also a member of the VFW Post 4419.  He worked as parts manager at the Clay Camper Company over its 13 year existence and ultimately retired from Elkem Metals, Alloy in 1994. Clem is survived by his wife of 58 years, June of Lizemores; daughters, Vivian (Mack) Parsons of Belle, Robin (Kyle) Legg of Wallback; grandsons, Ike (Tiffany) Litton of Weston, Garin (Leslie) Osburn of Lizemores, Eli (Stephanie) Litton of Charleston and Zeke Legg of Wallback; great-grandchildren, Kain, Bex, Zoe, Knox and two more on the way,  brother, Homer (Ressa) of Bickmore; sisters, Ann Osborne of Clay and Mary Jones of Bickmore and many nieces and nephews. He loved hunting, fishing, ginsenging and music. He received his 1st fiddle from his brother Forrest at an early age and taught himself to play.  One of his favorite memories was his days as a founding member of a local band from his glory days “the Lonesome Polecats”.  His music remained a comfort and a love throughout his life.  Today he is fiddling in heaven. The family wishes to express gratitude and many thanks to the hospice staff especially nurse Sonja, caregiver Amber, and family friend Vickie Vance Browne for her many visits and sing-a-longs that brightened dad’s day. Sept 30 2015  George Omer Gregorich, 93, of Chapel, Braxton County, passed away Sept. 26, 2015 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 22, 1922, a son of the late Frank and Lula Cart Gregorich. He graduated from Clay County High School and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Italy and North Africa. He worked at the mill in Swandale and was a retired baker for Nickles Bakery in Dalton, OH. George was a faithful servant to Jesus Christ and went to the Old German Church. He loved hunting, fishing and visits from his family. He was preceded in death by wife, Doris Wayne Gregorich; four brothers; and two sisters. Sept 30 2015  Vera J. Myers, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 26, 2015 at Montgomery Rehab and Nursing. Montgomery, WV. She was the daughter of the late Virgil and Gladys Legg of Fola, WV. Her siblings include the late Clifford Legg, Alice Conway and Ferrell Legg. She was a devout Christian, wife, mother and grandmother that will be forever remembered by everyone for her witty storytelling, dedication to family and the ability to make the best of any situation. Vera, also known as “Babe” by her late husband James D. Myers, was an inspiration to many she came in contact with. She was a proud member of the Bell Creek Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir alongside her late husband. She loved talking to people and had a gift for sharing stories that could only be uniquely told by her. Vera will be missed by many including the staff at the nursing home where she resided for 8 years. Not only did they take great care of her, but many were like family. Vera’s family will be forever grateful to them and to Kanawha Hospice. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Myers, and daughters Connie L. Norris and Sandra J. Hoffman. Sept 23 2015     Rosetta “Rose” Pritt, 88, of Hartland, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 21, 2015. Born October 1, 1926, in Delbarton, Mingo County, she was the daughter of the late Clark and Hollie (McCumbers) McClain. In addition to her parents, Rosetta was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Pritt in 1997. She lost her youngest daughter, Geraldine Nottingham in July of 2012, also preceded are brothers, Verdis McClain and Bev McClain, sisters, Peggy Weese and Corrine Stewart. Those left to cherish her memories are her sons; Darrell Pritt of Clay, Roy Pritt of Maysel and her “baby boy” Milford Pritt of Bomont and her daughter, Gloria White of Hartland.  Rose also raised two granddaughters, as her own Amy Pritt Cottrell of Clay and Michelle Pritt McKinney of Clay. Sept 12 2015  Paul Orda Naylor, 74 of Ennice, NC passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015. He was born August 3, 1941 to the late John and Eva Naylor in Kanawha County, WV. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Jewell Naylor; two sisters and five brothers. Mr. Naylor proudly served his country in the United States Air Force retiring with 20 years of service. Survivors include wife, Linda L. Born August 17, 1957, in Braxton, he was the son of the late Delbert Carte and Wanda Doddrill. Aug 25 2015  Jack R. Sergent, 83, of Dunbar, WV passed away on August 22, 2015 in Charleston, WV. He was born on October 11, 1931 to the late Jessie James and Thelma (Barnett) Sergent. Jack served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He is survived by a son: Wayne Sergent of Flordia, and a daughter: Jacqueline Sergent of Pennsylvania and sisters: Joan Meadows and Jessie Blankenship of Louisianna. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Pearl Walker, and baby sister Leone, brothers, Wilbert and Albert Adkins, brothers-in-law, Curtis Walker and Rex Walker, sister-in-law, Charlotte Adkins. Survivors include her loving daughter, Shirley Karen Hughes and husband, Leo of Troy, Ohio, grandsons Mark and Penny Hughes of Cortland, New York, Matthew and Holly Hughes of Locust Grove, Georgia; Sisters Gladys Walker of Chester WV, Linda (Kellis) Osborne of Lizemores, WV; brothers Gilbert (Carole) Adkins of Maineville, OH, Eddie Adkins of Sheffield Lake, OH, and sister-in-law, Donna Jean Adkins of Oak Hill. She is also survived by six step grandchildren, one step great grandchild, and three generations of nieces and nephews. Lucille was a graduate of Clay County High School, Class of 1944, and a graduate of Glenville State College. She began her teaching career at an early age. She taught school in Clay and Nicholas Counties for over 35 years. Aug 14 2015  Decima "Jean" (Boggs) Baker, 87, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2015 with her loved ones by her side in Rochester, NY.  She was born October 26, 1927 at Big Otter, WV to the late Walter Edgar and Minnie Olive (Delaney) Boggs. She was the widow of Harry Lee Baker, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.  Mrs. Baker leaves behind her two daughters:  S. Gail Shreiner (Terry L.) of Great Mills, MD and Donna Loch Baker of Big Otter, WV.  Jean is survived by her two sisters and a brother:  Leoma (Boggs) Short, widow of Ira Short of Athens, WV; Louetta (Boggs) Fields (Harald) of Big Otter, WV and Walter Alan Boggs (Leanna) of Athens, OH. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Darrell Delaney Boggs of Big Otter, WV and James Martin Boggs (Patricia) of Elyria, OH.
Jean’s grandchildren include: Lori (Miller) Short (Drexel) of Naples, FL;  Melissa Miller-Ipsan (Matthew) of Pelham, AL; Angela (Butts) Wasserman (Jason) of Rochester, NY; Terry L. Jean is also survived by five step great-grandchildren. They are: Alexandria Manzanares, Karissa Rickman, Kasey, Kaitlyn, and Brice Shreiner and four step great-great grandchild all of Texas.   Jean was 87 years old when she went home to be with our Lord and the rest of our family that have already made life’s greatest journey.  She will be dearly missed by those of us left behind.  Jean was indeed a special woman and a credit to the Boggs’ family.  She was an avid reader, skilled published poet and the writer of some children’s storybooks that may yet find themselves in print. Neil P  Boggs, 86, passed away August 6, 2015, at his home in Belen, New Mexico.  He had been in failing health for a few years. The son of R. Cecil Boggs and Rhoda Paxton Boggs, Neil grew up in Dundon and attended Clay County schools.  After high school, he became a reporter for the Charleston Gazette and later switched to WCHS-TV and then  WSAZ-TV, the beginning of his successful association with NBC.  He anchored an NBC newscast in Washington, D. C. and was a frequent host of the “Meet the Press” show.  Neil served in the Army during the Korean War.  In later years, he taught Journalism at the University of New Mexico. He was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers, W. Clifford and Warren G. Boggs and by his only sister, Joyce Chalmers.  Surviving are several nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and friends. A private family memorial service was held August 11 in New Mexico.

August 10 2015 Bethel Carol Nichols, 88, of Lizemores, entered into rest Friday, August 7, 2015. Born August 24, 1926, in Sycamore, she was the daughter, of the late William and Ada (Williams) DeBoard.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Cardell Nichols, sons, Don Pinson and Roger Nichols and daughter, Connie Tanner.  Bethel is survived by her sons, Mike Nichols of Lizemores, Laddie Dean Nichols of Frametown, James E. Mildred Ann Carter, 89, of Nebo, WV, went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2015 at Braxton Memorial Hospital. She was born September 11, 1925, a daughter of the late Homer Hamilton and Myrtle Anderson Vaughn. She retired from Metropolitan Hospital of Cleveland after 17 years of service.  She was a longtime member of Nebo Baptist Church. August 5 2015  Mildred Ann Carter, 89, of Nebo, WV, went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2015 at Braxton Memorial Hospital. She was born September 11, 1925, a daughter of the late Homer Hamilton and Myrtle Anderson Vaughn. She retired from Metropolitan Hospital of Cleveland after 17 years of service.  She was a longtime member of Nebo Baptist Church.  She is survived by brother, Pat Vaughn of Chloe, WV; daughter, Sherrie Carter of Orma, WV; three sons, Gary Vaughn of Chloe, WV; Bryan Carter of Nebo, WV; and Steven Carter of Nebo, WV; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Ernest “Cliff” Carter; brothers, Darrell Vaughn; Billy Vaughn; and Bobby Vaughn; sister, Macel Miller; and son, Jeffrey Carter.  Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 1 p.m. with Rev. July 31 2105   Larry Gail Caudill  Heaven gained another Angel on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 when Larry Gail Caudill went to be with The Lord due to injuries from an automobile accident.   Born the only child, to Nannie and Estill Caudill, on December 6, 1948, in Mayking Ky. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law Joe Paxton. In his 66 years of life he has been a blessing to many. He was known for his contagious laugh and love of family and friends. Never meeting a stranger the impact of his life will carry on and on. He was retired from Ford Motor Company in Lorain Oh. He had a love for his community. He has been involved in 4-H for 20 Years as a counselor. A member of the Clay Lions Club for many years and out of those years he served several as President. He was also active with athletic boosters, music boosters, UAW, Boy Scouts, and youth organizations; he was also a supporter and announcer for the Clay Midget Football League and attended the House of Prayer Church. He was an unforgettable man that will be missed by many; he was so much to so many.   Larry is survived by his loving wife, of 47 years, Patty Caudill, daughter, Jeanetta Gail and Son-in-law Billy Keen, son, James Darren and daughter-in-law Samantha Caudill, daughter, Jerrica Dawn and son-in-law Adam Plecker, grandsons, Kyle Matthew and Kaleb Joe, granddaughters, Kylie Ryann and Addison Elizabeth, mother-in-law, Justine Paxton, brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Ruth Paxton, 5 nephews, 5 nieces, 2 great nephews, 1 great niece, and 1 great- great nephew.  The family is moved and appreciative of all of the family and friends helping us through this difficult time. July 29 2015  Irene Cantrell of Procious, WV, was born May 27, 1940 and died Monday, July 27, 2015, at home.  Irene was retired from Union Carbide Corporation, South Charleston Plant-Accounting Department.  After retirement, she spent endless hours working with the Buffalo Gals on fundraisers for the BC & G Railroad Co-Op.  She also loved all her classmates of the Clay County High School class of 1958, where she was involved in planning their class reunions.  Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Rhuanna Hamrick. Survivors are her husband, Charles, of Procious; son, Brad (Deliah) Cantrell of Procious and sisters, Janet (Nahum) Balser and Kathy (Paul) Holcomb  of Clendenin.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Tyler and Bryonna Cantrell of Procious, step-granddaughter, Katrina Nicholson of Ovapa, great-granddaughters, Jocylen, Garten and Arica Nicholson.  The family would like to thank the Greater Charleston Dialysis Center for all their loving care and caregivers, Daliah Cantrell and Miranda Salisbury.  There will be no services.  Per Irene’s request, she will be cremated. July 29 2015  Robert Graham, 59, of Indore, went to be with the Lord July 27, 2015, after a long illness. His family was with him throughout his illness and at his death.   Born September 20, 1955, he was the son of the late William Edward “Bill” and the late Janet Legg Graham.  He was also preceded by baby brother, Randolph;  nieces, Kelli Canfield Gilfilen and Kimberly Canfield, and brother-in-law, Rodney Loftis.   Prior to his illness, Robert was employed with West Virginia Department of Highway as a supervisor.  With a keen sense of humor, he thoroughly enjoyed being a prankster.  He was also an avid reader, with a love of blue grass and gospel music. July 13 2015   Tina Marie (Lennox) Witt, 40, of Procious, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after a long, courageous battle with brain cancer on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Born August 23, 1974 in Charleston, she was the daughter of Jim and Elaine Lennox of Procious. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Arnold and Blanche Given and James Lennox Sr., and uncles Donald Given and Franklin Given. Tina graduated from the University of Charleston and taught in the Clay County Elementary School for twelve years before becoming, disabled due to stroke in 2013. July 9 2015  Virgil Harvey Wills Jr., 83, of Charlton Heights passed away to be with the Lord on July 8, 2015 at Elderly Care of Montgomery WV. Larry Leon Roop, 77, of Jodie, entered into rest June 25,2015. after a short illness. Born April 16,1938 in Jodie, he was the son of the late Alfred and Lorena (Elswick) Roop. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Jo, brother, Michael Earl.   He retired in 1992 as a Mine Foreman for Carl M. Geupel Construction/ High Power Energy, he worked on the Summersville Dam beginning in 1961, he was a retired member of Labors Local 1353, founder of the Gauley River Volunteer Fire Department, as well as its first captain. Jack L. Tawney, 80, of Belmont, Pleasants County, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Carehaven of Pleasants, Belmont. He was born July 5, 1934 at Left Hand, a son of the late Clement and Opal Nester Tawney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clement Tawney, Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Burl and Hazel Ellison Bullard; sister-in-law, Sandy Hackney. Jack was a Baptist and a 1950 graduate of Spencer High School. He was an Air Force veteran who served in post war Germany as a teletype operator. Jack was a retired supervisor from Union Carbide Corporation and the North Carolina Prison System. He was a member of the Linden Lodge No. 83, A.F. & A.M., Linden and the St. Marys Chapter No. 31, O.E.S., St. Marys. Jack also worked for the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner, N.C. and the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys. He was an avid sports fan and a baseball coach for many years in Pleasants County.  Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Frances E. May 7 2015 Hazel G. (Mathews) Hanna, 103, formerly of Clay, WV, passed away on May 5, 2015 in Frametown, WV.  She was born in Greenbrier County on April 10, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Marion Wheeler Mathews and Georgia (Cochran) Matthews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Floyd Mathews and Billy Mathews; sisters, Pauline Anderson, and Betty Smith.  Mrs. Hanna was also preceeded in death by two sons, Leslie “Sonny” Montgomery and Dan Thomas “Tommy” Hanna who grew up in Clay, WV and by ex-husband Fred Hanna of Clay, WV.  Mrs. Hanna is survived by son Fred L. Hanna of Millbrook, AL; brother, Marion “Joe” Matthews of Fairmont, WV; special niece Karen Yokum also ofFairmont, WV; five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.   Hazel grew up in Greenbrier County, WV and graduated from Williamsburg High School.  Later in life, she attended Clay County High School for refresher courses.  She was a 70 plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Clay, WV.   Her later years were spent with her loving and devoted son Fred in Alabama.  This past year she resided with Miki Priest in Frametown, WV who provided her with love and comfort in her last days.  Family will receive friends at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV  26621 on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 6-8 p.m.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 at the St. Andrews United Methodist Church Cemetery in Williamsburg, WV.  In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Hazel G. April 30 2015   Ronald Ray Haynes Sr., 71, slipped away from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior on April 29, 2015 at Roane General Hospital. He was born July 4, 1943 at Allen Creek, Kanawha County, a son of the late Denver and Belle Reynolds Haynes. He was a graduate of the Sissonville High School, class of 1960. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army Reserves and would later continue in his father's footsteps into highway construction. In 1972, Ronald and his father incorporated Haynes Concrete Construction Company. In 1973, Ronald Incorporated M&H Concrete Structures, Inc. as a bridge construction company. Later the two merged in M&H Concrete Structures. He retired in 1999, allowing him to spend more time to pursue his passion of cattle farming and peaceful living.  Ronald was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. He was a Clay County commissioner for 12 years and donated his salary to provide scholarships for local high school students. He was an avid softball player and even pitched into his 50s. Ronald purchased the scoreboard for his alma mater, the Sissonville Indians Football Field. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Margaret Nicholas Haynes of Reedy; son, Roger Haynes of Reedy; daughters, Kelly (Scott) Kitchen of Marietta, Ohio, Carrie (Todd) Dunmire of Ivydale and Round Rock, Texas, and Christy (David Vineyard) Haynes of Clendenin; stepson, Frank (Trina) Killingsworth of Reedy; eight grandchildren, Shannon Haynes, Hannah and Katie Kitchen, Alexis and Caitlin Belt, Emilia and Abigail Flores and David Samuels; brother, Lee (Shirley) Haynes; and sisters, Shirley (Johnny) Studabaker and Janice (Keith) Young.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Ray Haynes Jr., and a brother, Roger Haynes. April 29 2015   Don Maurice Estep, 84, of Houston, TX, passed away April 21, 2015, from complications of melanoma.  Don was born July 29, 1930 at Porter, WV to Donald Matthew and Lorna Bird Estep.  After his mother’s death in 1936, Don and his older sister Arlene lived with their grandparents, Hence and Ella Estep, at Porter and attended local schools.  Don is a graduate of Clay County High School, class of 1947.  During the Korean conflict, he entered the U. S. Army, became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg, NC, and was honorably discharged as Corporal in 1954.  After separation from the Army, Don began working as a Piping Design Engineer in the oil and gas industry,  He was employed by Union Carbide for 32 years (during which time he was transferred to Houston), for Brown and Root for 12 years and for Bechtel Corp for eight years.  After three retirements, he took his love for long-distance driving and worked for Mercury Delivery Courier Service until age 79.  Don was preceded in death by his parents and son Jeffrey.  Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Lovella Estep, daughters Lorna Gail Estep of Houston and Constance Leigh Estep of Bloomington, IL, one grandson and two great-grandsons.   Also surviving are sisters, Arlene Munson of Vienna, WV, Carole Sue (Bill) Lynch of Alexandria, VA, Ella Guthrie of Roanoke, VA, and Linda (David) Wilson of Lehigh Acres, FL. and numerous nieces and nephews , cousins and friends.   A celebration of Don’s life was held April 24 at the United Methodist Church in Conroe, TX, with private interment at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX.

April 25 2015  James Lewis Woodrum, 50, of Clay, entered into rest Friday, April 24, 2015. April 25 2015  Broadus Markle, 72, of Maysel departed this life on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at CAMC-General after a sudden illness. Born on December 27, 1942 in Bentree, he was the son of the late Norval and Maysel (Mullins) Markle. In addition to his parents, Broadus was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Markle, Boyd Markle, and William Markle and a sister, Dorothy Roop. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ella Mae Markle of Maysel; daughters, Sherri Markle- Ramsey and  Jimmy and Susan Bodkins of Lizemores; grandchildren, Shani Berry, Hannah Holcomb and Jakob Bodkins; foster-granddaughter, Nicole Flint; sisters, Charlotte (George) Johnson and Barbara Truman; several nieces, nephews, family and friends. Broadus was known as “Pappy” to many of the younger generation.  He was a good role model to all who knew him. April 21 2015  Ross Lee Bledsoe, 60, of Powellton, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at his sister, Emma Lee Perry with whom he made his home with. Born August 18, 1954 in Gassaway, he was the son of the late Max and Pauline (Tucker) Bledsoe, in addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Laura Pritt and half-sister Peggy and brother, Bill. April 17 2015  James Bowling Nichols, 67 of Lizemores, passed away on April 13, 2015 at Holy Family Hospice, Cleveland, OH. April 7 2015  William C. “Bill” Moss, 79, of Newton, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at the CAMC-Memorial Hospital, Charleston. He was born October 20, 1938, at Charleston, a son of the late Orville and Grace Keen Moss. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Rex, Forest and Brooks Moss; three sisters, Maxine Totten, Eileen Griffith and Anna Hope.  Bill was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 625, Charleston. He was a 50 year member and Past Master of the Linden Lodge No. 83, A.F. & A.M. Also, he was an Army veteran.  Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary E. Short Moss, whom he married November 20, 1962; daughter, Marilou Legg of Wallback; son, Wm. Loretta Cox Young, of St. Albans and Hurricane, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at CAMC General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmas, on March 1, 2013. Loretta and Delmas were married for more than 60 years and lived many of those years in St. Albans. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Barbara Cox of Hurricane. She was of the Christian faith and attended churches in St. Albans prior to her husband's death. Born Jan. 4, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Ardie and Amma Cox. Loretta was a graduate of Clay County High School, class of 1950, and retired from State Farm Insurance. When she was well, Loretta was a fun-loving person who enjoyed traveling, anywhere! She enjoyed staying in touch with family, friends and former classmates and co-workers. Thanks to those who took her phone calls and befriended her. A special thanks is extended to those who helped with caregiving. Beatrice Almeda Tawney, 97, of Ravenswood, West Virginia formerly of Clay County, West Virginia, passed awy on March 12, 2015, at home. She was born June 28, 1917, at Wallback, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Robert Cleveland Summers and Almeda Wilson Bonnett Summers. Beatrice was a life long member of the Wallback United Methodist Church and a graduate of Clay County High School with the class of 1936. She was a graduate of Glenville State College with the class of 1947 and started teaching after two years of college finishing her degree with night and summer classes. She retired from the Clay County Board of Education. She was an assistant postmaster at Wallback for a short time and she and her late husband Clark operatee Tawney's Exxon at Wallback for 35 years. She was a member of the West Virginia Education Association, the National Education Association, and the United Methodist Women. After retiring, she and her husband spent 28 winters in Sanford, Florida. At the age of 90, she and Clark moved to Ravenswood to be near their only child, Bernice Jean.  Beatrice was the most positive person and determined woman and was a classy lady who loved to tell stories of her life growing up.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bernice Jean Happney and husband, Mark, of Ravenswood; granddaughters, Kimberly Sue Murray and husband, Dean of Ravenswood and Tammy Anne Oxley and husband, Greg of South Charleston; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Anne Oxley of South Charleston; great-grandsons, Cory Murray of Pittsburgh, Pa., Luke Murray of Ravenswood, and Nicholas Oxley of South Charleston; sisters, Miriam Summers Sizemore of Maysel, W.Va. and Janis Summers Boggess of Melbourne, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was the love of her life, Clark Tawney; brothers, Andrew, Lionel Terry (Chuck), Vallis Crockett, Robert Clayton, Bobby Darius, and Levy Price Summers; and a sister, Opal Anna Bonnett Moore.  A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, at the Tawney Cemetery in Newton, West Virginia with Rev. Paul Coon officiating. There will be no visitation or service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wallback United Methodist Church, P.O. Elizabeth “Camay” Morris Achtemichuk, 79, passed away at her home in Dixie on Thursday, March 5, 2015.  Born July 7, 1935, she was the oldest daughter of the late Sterling and Berniece Morris of Dixie, WV. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband and father to her four children, John Lee Ward II of Kanawha Falls, WV; her second husband, Paul Achtemichuk of Rhein, Saskatchewan in Canada; son, John Lee Ward III and great-grandson, Christopher Allen Roop. She was a 1952 graduate of Clay County High School and a graduate of Parkersburg Community College, where she earned an AA degree and an AAS degree in social work.   Elizabeth is survived by her three sisters, Carol Browning of Mason, Naomi Lampenin and husband Madis of Glen Rock, PA and Charlene Legg of Nitro, three children, Jaci Barker of Kanawha Falls, Robert Ward and wife April of Gauley Bridge and Tina Hudnall of Twenty Mile Creek Road. She leaves a legacy in her 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.    Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sandra C. Childers Sparks “Sandy”, 71, of Falls View, WV went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 3 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family, at CAMC General Division, Charleston, WV. Sandy was born September 30, 1943 in Belva, WV to the late Carl H. and Helen Childers. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Susie J. Pierson and two brothers, Jim and Dallas Childers. She was retired from Mt. Olive Correctional Complex after 15 years of service. Sandy was a loving and devoted Mother, Sister, Grandmother and friend. She loved the Lord and our hearts’ loss is Heavens’ gain. She enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles and gardening. And, she was famous among her family and friends for her love of a good practical joke.  She is survived by “her girls”; Christine Sparks and Ellen Sparks of Falls View, WV; Edwina Flare (Gerald) of Swiss, WV and Sarah Jo Sparks of Belva, WV; Sisters Sonjie Brown of Indore, WV; Sharon Young (Lynn) of Georgetown, KY; Becky Childers of Cleveland, TN; Snow Doss (Carlos) of Georgetown, KY; and Sharlene Glenn (Eddie) of Lexington, KY. March 1 2015  Fadra Dawn Johnston, 43, of Gauley Bridge, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 in Montgomery. Born September 25, 1971 in Montgomery, she was the daughter of Wilbert Johnston of NC and Ella and Walter Asbury of Gauley Bridge. In addition to her parents, Fadra is survived by her children, Charity D. (Carl) Leake of Boomer, Joshua A. Pritt and Jermiah J. Mamie Murle Calmes (Murphy), age 92, passed away February 9, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. She was born the 10th of 12 siblings on August 26, 1922 in Ivydale, West Virginia to Nathan and Bell (Greathouse) Murphy. In addition to her parents, she was the last surviving sibling, preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Gay, Anise “Chubb”, Callie, Grace, Otie, Gertie, Brooks, Rebecca, Oscar, Freda and Elzeve, her daughter, Colleen (Thorp) Ireland, and her grand daughter, Michelle Webb. She is survived by her daughter, Beverley (Thorp) Webb, and son, Harvey “Denny” Thorp, as well as four grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and much extended family from her West Virginia roots. She left home at age 13 to begin work as a family caretaker and eventually moved from West Virginia and became a long-time resident of the Dayton, Ohio area, where she raised her own family. She was independent, feisty, funny, and generous, never lost her love of West Virginia, and will be greatly missed. A private family memorial was held in Denver, Colorado on February 12, 2015. Her final resting place is Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
 

Feb 26 2015  Lester Lee Myers, 85, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at his home after living a full life. Born November 2, 1929, at Falls View, WV, he was the son of the Frank Roy and Gertrude Mae Roush Myers.  Mr. Myers was a retired employee of Elkem Metals at Alloy and was a member of the Bell Creek Missionary Baptist Church at Dixie. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Sisters - Mildred Harrah, Jeanette Lucas, Donevia Akers, Brothers - Delbert Myers, Corwin Myers, Jim Myers, Guy Myers and Bill Myers.  Survivors include three sisters Flavia Cole - Jefferson, OH, Betty Henson and Gloria Jordan of Fayetteville, WV.  His wife of 59 years Naomi Elswick Myers, daughter Elizabeth Myers Belcher and husband Mike of Beaver, WV, son Stewart L. Myers and wife Brenda of Beckley, WV.  Grandchildren:  Ryan Michael Belcher and Matthew Lee Myers  Step Grandchildern:  Amanda Worley and husband Ben, Ericka Poli and husband Chris and Vinson Snuffer.  Step Great Grandchildren:  Zadie, Janie and Asher Worley A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.  Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bell Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Feb 15 2015  Jerry Richard Duffield, 68, died February 13, 2015 at home in Strange Creek. He was born June 19, 1946 at Elkridge, WV a son of the late Harold “Carol” and Madeliene Queen Duffield. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Samuel Adam McCoy and mother-in-law, Olga Ratliff. Jerry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie Ratliff Duffield; son, Sam (Melissa) Duffield of Summersville; daughter, Becky Duffield McCoy of Duck; brother, Jimmy (Helen) Duffield of Clay; sister, Nancy Nichols of Martinsburg; father-in-law, Thurman Ratliff of Duck; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Phil and Shelley McKown of Frametown; grandchildren, Blane, Hannah, Seth, Gracie, Maddie, Tyler and Jace; special grandchildren, Carlie Rae McKown, Jackson and Chance Davis, Owen, Jack and Adeline Lowther, Aven Woods, Lucy Dennison, Ethan Moore, Dakota Hunt, Emily Carter, Hunter Hannah, Anne, Kate and Todd Spencer. nephew, Philip (Cassie) McKown; nieces, Belinda (David) Walker, Barbie (Steve) Morris, Amy Hunt and Tammy Duffield, Terri (Scott) Legg and Traci (Rick) Welch. Jerry graduated from Clay County High School in 1964. His parents owned Kilroy's Inn where he spent countless hours growing up. He retired October 31, 2015 from the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division where he served for 50 years, finally retiring after reaching his goal of harvesting over 100 bears. He enjoyed time spent with his coworkers, whom he counted as family, especially Mark Clark and Burnard Gibson. An avid hunter and fisherman, Jerry enjoyed excursions from Alaska to Canada, New Foundland and all over the United States, but his favorite being the Elk River where he grew up. He was devoted to his family, spending every spare minute with his grand kids. He was everybody's “Papaw: and loved by so many. He will be remembered for his bear stories and backyard bonfires. Jerry was an active member of the Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his church family and was always found helping someone in need. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. We, as his family, find words to be inadequate at this time to memorialize such a fun, giving, loving, patient, and selfless man. We are so thankful for the assurance of heaven, for without it, this separation would be unbearable.
 Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Gassaway Baptist Church with Pastors, Joe Bob Truman, Okey Short, and John Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Duffield Cemetery, Duck. Feb 2 2015  Monta Gregorich Clingenpeel (Molly), 88 passed away at Hubbard Hospice House on February 1, 2015 after a long illness. Born November 7, 1926 in Richwood, WV she grew up in Swandale, WV and graduated from Clay County High School.  She attended nursing school at Charleston General Hospital. She served as a registered nurse at Dupont, Charleston Memorial Hospital and Charleston Women and Children's Hospital. She was a former elder at Village Chapel Presbyterian Church. She was awarded Volunteer of the Year for her service with Health Right of WV.  Molly was an avid rosarian. She was an accredited horticultural rose judge, consulting rosarian and member of the Charleston Rose Society and American Rose Society (ARS). She was awarded the silver medal from the Colonial District of the ARS - their highest award for service.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and being with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie, parents Frank and Lula Cart Gregorich, brothers Doyle, Fred, Paul, and Gene Gregorich and sister Bea Gregorich. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Bruce LeRoy), beloved granddaughter Madison LeRoy, her brother Omer Gregorich, sisters Judy Hart (John Coulter) and Mary Gregorich, plus many nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to niece Emmy Withrow, Lou Maxson, Richard Hanlon, Susan Stafford and Diane Peck for all their visits, care and friendship during her illness. The family would also like to express their gratitude to the staff of Hubbard Hospice House for the loving care they provided to Molly. Graveside service will be held 2:00 Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Adkins Cemetery, Indore with Minister Mike Holcomb officiating.

Jan 5 2015  Rodney Allen Burford, 62, of Oak Hill passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill. He was born January 17, 1952 in Brownsville, the son of the late Zane Cameron and Doris (Crowe) Burford.  In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his son, Tracy Allen Burford. He was a retired mechanic for Elkem Metals in Alloy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #64 of Gauley Bridge and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era.Rodney is survived by his loving wife, Debra Burford of Oak Hill; sons,  Jason Andrew Burford and Tracy Alexander (Alex) Burford, both of Oak Hill; granddaughters, Taylor Mackenzie Burford and Brooklyn Paige Burford, both of Clay County; sister Marsha Angel of Oak Hill; brothers, Lee Cameron Burford of Oak Hill, Richard Burford and wife, Patty of Gauley Bridge, and Steven Burford and wife, Della of East Bank; nephews, John Mills and wife Teresa of Oak Hill and Chris Burford and wife, Holly of Ansted; nieces, Lorri Siemiaczko and husband, Joey of Oak Hill and Melissa Brewer and husband, Chad of Beckley; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will take place 1 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Pennington Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London. Jan 5 2015  Larry K. (Louie) Neal, 58, of Lizemores died 1/3/15 at Hubbard Hospice House.  He was born 4/7/56 at Gauley Bridge.  He was retired from Kroger’s in Smithers.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mose and Onnie Neal and Robert and Pribble Keith; his father, Don Neal and sister, Donna Neal. He is survived by his mother, Thelma Neal of Gauley Bridge; son, Daniel Neal of Charleston; daughter, Amy (Wesley) Armstrong of Boomer;  grand-daughter, Kendel; special cousin, Rick Blanchard of Madisonville, KY; and step-son, Donald Taylor of New Martinsville. Funeral will be Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 1 PM at Pennington Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Long officiating.  Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.
