at WakeMed Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. He died peacefully in
his sleep. His son and both daughters were with him through his
final hours, and his wife was by his side - just where she'd been
for one month shy of 55 years. Dale was preceded in death by
his parents, Arvil F. Thomas and Gertrude (Bennett) Thomas and
four brothers, Robert, Paul, Gerald and James Thomas. He is
survived by his wife Harry Etta (Jacobs) Thomas; brothers William
Thomas, Daniel Thomas and his wife Janice; his son Kenneth Dale
Thomas and his wife Vicki, his daughter Jennifer Dawn (Thomas)
Dodson and her husband Don, his daughter Mary Beth (Thomas) May
and her husband Scott West; six grandchildren: William Shuck and
his wife Elizabeth, John Wesley Kauff, Marshall Dale Thomas,
Andrew Dale May, Allyson Brooke May and Lindsay Dawn May; one
great-grandchild: John Wesley Kauff, Jr.; and a big dumb dog named
Luke he called 'guthead'. He was a devout and faithful
Christian and a member of Kennebec Baptist Church in Angier, NC, a
veteran of the US Air Force, an avid outdoorsman who especially
loved trout fishing and deer hunting, and a proud son of the West
Virginia mountains where he was born and raised. Dale grew up in a
musical family playing guitar and piano, and he played and sang
with several gospel groups that performed in churches all over
West Virginia. He worked as an equipment operator, maintenance man
and heavy equipment mechanic, but he was best known for his skill
as a welder. Men who worked with him often said "Put a welding rod
in his hand and Dale Thomas could mend a broken heart, and he was
working on the crack of dawn."
Dale Thomas was a good man and he lived a good
life. He was unfailingly kind and decent, funny and warm. He made
friends with everyone he met. He loved dogs, and the feeling was
mutual - probably because he was notorious for sneaking them food
under the table. He loved jokes and pranks, loved telling stories
almost as much as he loved hearing them, and he loved to laugh and
make others laugh. He was convinced that the remoted-controlled
wireless fart machine was the greatest invention of the modern
age. He was the kind of guy who always wanted someone else to
catch the most fish, get the biggest deer, or have the best game
of golf, because he loved seeing them happy. Most of all he
loved his wife, his savior, his brothers, his friends, his son and
daughters, and his grandchildren with fierce devotion, compassion,
and support that never wavered. And they loved him back. And they
will miss him very much. A graveside service will be
held at the Rich Creek Cemetery in Jodie, WV at 1PM on Saturday,
November the 7th, 2020. In lieu of flowers, the family
has asked those so inclined to make a donation to the American
Lung Association at www.lung.org.
Nov 4 2020 Andrea Nichole Holcomb, 43, of Bickmore, West
Virginia, won her final prize on November 2, 2020 when she went to

embrace God’s love, strength, and grace through each trial. She
used every possible moment to be a blessing to others, inspiring
them about the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Andrea was
blessed with a large and loving family. She has been married to
her best friend, Craig Holcomb, for over twenty-four years, who
was her provider, protector, and rock. Together, they were blessed

herself to being who she knew the Lord called her to be. She

(Samantha). She is also survived by her mother and father-in-law,
Larry and Denice Holcomb, brother and sister-in-law, Justin and
Sarah, and several nieces and nephews that she loved to love
on. Andrea was a woman who will be remembered as someone who
always used her time to uplift other with her unwavering faith,
offer a smile, create beautiful crafts, give a loving embrace,
present a witty comment, or provide a helping hand. She always
encouraged others with the words of God such as her favorite
verses, Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways
acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths,” as well as
through her favorite song, “It is Well With My Soul.” Andrea
will be laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery on Thursday, November 5,
2020 at 1:00 P.M. Her family asks that Andrea be remembered

Robert Fitzgerald (Fitz) Mullins, 56, of Bickmore, unexpectedly
left this world on Thursday, August 27. He was born on May 12,
1964, in Gassaway, WV, to Mabel (Rush) and Ira Mullins. He
was his momma’s baby boy – the final of her six children. He
graduated from Clay County High School in 1982. On June 10,
1983, Fitzy married Robin Cash. The pair spent 38 years
together and provided a loving foundation for their four children.
Fitzy was a kind, hardworking man. Those who worked with him
during his almost 40 years tree trimming knew he was never going
to be outworked on the job, and they could always rely on him to
mentor and teach those new to the field. Those men will tell
you that while he taught them about the job, he also loved to
share life skills and lessons. Anyone who knew Fitzy
knew he was a talker. He was always ready to share a story
about his family or a fun memory he had from his youth.
However, he was also one who loved to hear the stories of
others. He liked to understand people and learn how he could
help them. That was who he was - he was a
helper. While his children are now grown, he was a
fixture in youth sports back in the day. He loved teaching
kids the basics of whatever game they chose to play. He had
energy and enthusiasm that allowed him to run up and down the
court or field with the kids, and that assured they were always
having fun. That was his goal – teach them the basics, teach
them teamwork, build passion, and assure it was a good time for
all. That love for youth sports was reignited in recent years with
the arrival of his grandbaby Jonavan, in 2012, and a sudden move
back to Clay County, in 2016, that allowed him to form a great
bond with his niece, Destiney. Fitzy was so proud of those
two kiddos. He was their biggest fan. He loved to
cheer on Jonavan on the wrestling mat and football field while he
encouraged Destiny to pursue running as a Lady Panther. They
brought such joy to his life. Fitz is survived by his
wife, Robin Mullins; his three daughters Jennifer (Rob) Fletcher
of Clendenin, WV, Jamie Mullins of Glenville, WV, and Jeana
Mullins of Bickmore, WV; his son Jonathan (Stevie) Mullins of
Hershey, PA; his brothers Archie (Margaret) Rush of Loudenville,
OH, James ‘Poke’ Mullins of Widen, WV, and Dallas ‘Dude’ (Lori)
Mullins, of Bickmore, WV; his sister Barbara (Shorty) Crites of
Nitro, WV; his only grandson Jonavan Mullins of Glenville,
WV; and his special niece Destiney Mullins, of Bickmore,
WV. Additionally, he is survived by a large extended family
who loved and cherished him. He will be greeted in
Heaven by his parents, Mabel and Ira Mullins, his sister Sharon
‘Elaine’ Mullins and her companion Larry Hash, sister-in-law Donna
Hill, and his in-laws Calvin and Jean Rose. In honor of his
memory, the family elected to donate his organs to provide others
the opportunity to live. As a man whose life was about
helping others, that is his legacy. A Graveside Service is
planned Sunday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Richard Glenn Thurston, age 73, of
Charlottesville Virginia, entered into the presence of his Lord
and Savior. Rich's positive impact on the lives of others was, and
will still be, a true gift to those who knew him. He left a
beautiful example of humility, compassion, intellectual wit,
humor, and a love of the Lord. Richard was born in
Washington, DC in September of 1946 to Clarence and Hazel
Thurston. He was preceded in death by his parents, and older
sisters Geraldine Thurston, and Norma Jean Perna. Rich and his
wife, Carol Mahood Thurston, joyfully celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary on July 6th of this year. Rich is also
survived by his two daughters, Erica Knights (Chris), and Inga
Thurston-Barclay (Scott); 7 grandchildren (Lindsay, Jared, Ethan,
Evie, Carson, Katherine, Charlotte); brother-in-law and
sister-in-law (Frank and Arlene Mahood); and 6 nieces and nephews.
He was a tenderhearted man who took great joy in hearing stories
about family (both present and past), and in spending time with
his loved ones. He was an enthusiastic learner and immersed
himself throughout his entire life in many varied topics. He grew
up in Washington, DC, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School,
and then went on to get degrees at Princeton University and Wesley
Theological Seminary. Rich became an ordained minister and spent
many years pastoring local churches in West Virginia and Virginia.
He found great joy in sharing his insights into what he had
learned about the character of God and God's love for us. There
was almost nothing that delighted him more than engaging with
others on topics of the Bible and sharing his knowledge and
appreciation of New Testament Greek with others. Rich also
went on to receive his MBA from James Madison University and
became a Certified Public Accountant. After ministering as a
pastor for many years, he offered his mathematical gifts in his
roles at Hantzmon & Wiebel LLC and Seminole Trail Properties
LLC.
An avid musician, Rich loved to joyfully sing tenor harmonies, and
was proficient on the piano, guitar, clarinet, and saxophone. Most
recently he enjoyed playing in the local Charlottesville First and
Second Wind Bands and Flashbacks ensembles. His diverse talents
afforded him the opportunity to touch the lives of many people in
different environments. While the loss of Rich's life on this side
of eternity is great, his family rests in the assurance that he is
experiencing peace and joy in the presence of his Lord. "Do not
fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are
mine." -Isaiah 43:1
In light of the current situation with crowd limitations, Richard
will be honored at a family grave-side burial at Evergreen
Cemetery in Roanoke, Virginia at a later time. Until then, the
family is offering an online celebration of his life for close
friends and family through the CaringBridge website. The
family requests any donations in Rich's memory be made to Special
Hope Network (www.specialhopenetwork.org).

June 1 2020 Deborah Sue (Smoot) Burchett born in Charleston
in 1953, long time resident of Indore WV, went to be with the Lord
on May 25, 2020 at CAMC Memorial, age 66. She is the beloved
daughter of the late Twyla Sue Hamilton and late Jerry Thomas
Richard Smoot, step daughter of Patty Smoot. Debbie
wrote in her personal journal in 2000, "I keep thinking of what
people will say of me after I'm dead. I want to make a
difference... Today is good, just a little bit chilly. Cat's on
the bed. Dog's on the porch and Henry's in the woods." It was a
beautiful sunny day with spring flowers blooming and baby birds
chirping as we said our final goodbyes to our Loving Wife, Mother,
and Sister. We KNOW that she made a difference, "Mrs. Burchett"
touched countless lives as a long time Clay Co Teacher, she always
reminisced fondly of her students with a smile on her face.
Not only as a teacher, but as a loving sister in Christ to her
church family at People's Baptist Church of Indore, she was a Ray
of Sunshine to all of those who met her. In turn, she loved every
one of the people who touched her life. We have faith
that we will see her again in Heaven; but until then, we know
she'll be running free, breathing deep, and swimming in the
heavenly lakes with her dearly loved sons John Henry and
Matthew Henry, parents, grandparents, and friends that were
already waiting for her. She would want us to share her favorite
Bible verse Isaiah 40:28-31, excerpt "Even youths grow tired and
weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the
Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like
eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not
be faint." She leaves behind her dedicated husband of 38
years, William "Henry" Burchett, brother Ricky Smoot, daughter
Elisha (Burchett) Gould and "her son" Nathan. In addition to her
immediate family, there are several special people she is survived
by, including the Son of Her Heart, Anthony "Tab" Burchett and his
family, Amanda, Logan, Morgan & Emmah, Brother and Sisters In
Law Ann, Margaret, Jean, and Paul, plus Aunts, Uncles and
countless Cousins all across the country. There will
not be a service held at this time, but will celebrate her life at
a Memorial with family, friends and food later in the year.
Details about the event will be provided closer to date and
everyone is welcome to come celebrate in her honor. Even though we
miss her so much, we rejoice in the fact she is with the Lord and
no longer in pain.

55. She is survived by her husband Ronald Cooper, her son
Christopher Cooper, and her brother John Wilkinson. She is

strong will and determination saw her through many hardships. She

trial, she faced it head on and built a life she loved. For 38
years she shared that life with her devoted husband, the love of
her life. Even years before their marriage, the two were
inseparable. No matter the difficulties life gave them, she always
found a way to support her family, all with a smile on her face
and hope in her eyes. She was a doting mother, a loving wife, and
an empathetic friend to many. Life without her will be
unimaginable. She was the pillar of strength in her family, a
beacon of light to us, one we will miss for the rest of our
days.Yet even with the pain of losing her, losing her all too soon
at that, we pray she finds peace now with her family. Long did she
miss the strength and wisdom of her father, and long did she seek
the love and care of her mother again. Now at last they will be
reunited, along with many others we have lost and loved over the
years. The angels take her now, where her beauty of body and soul
shall live on in everlasting light. Services will be held at

Jan 15 2020 As of Sunday, January 12, 2020, there is a new,
joyful, and blessed voice added to the heavenly hosts now singing
the praises of our Lord as our dear dad, PaPa, Christian brother,
neighbor, and friend. BILLY GENE FACEMIRE SR., of Dille, has gone
home. Bill was 92 years old. He was born at #10 Nicholas
Street in Widen, W.Va., to Lanty Facemire and Lucy Butcher
Facemire. Preceding him in death was his one and only
sweetheart from the first moment they met and continued for 69
wonderful years, Wanda Brown Facemire: sisters, Vada Lykins,
Athelene Ashley, and Charlotte Facemire, and one brother, Foster
Facemire. Bill is survived by daughters Joyce Griffith (TG) of
Dille, Debbie Browning (Charley) of Summersville, and Vicki
Griffith of Belle; sons, Billy Gene Facemire (Pam) of Birch River
and Frankie Facemire (Valerie), also of Dille; one sister, Carlene
Triplett (Jack) of Adairsville Ga., and one brother, Delano
Facemire (Martha) of Summersville; grandchildren, Leanne (Matt)
Deitz of Staunton Va., Andrea Griffith (Larry Gale) of Allison
Park, Pa., Amanda Griffith (Mike Penix) of Morgantown, Corey
Browning (Lindsay) of Summersville, Logan Browning (Heather) of
Bluefield, Matthew Griffith (April) of Sissonville, Jonathan
Griffith (Callie) of Charleston, Farrah Crane of Eleanor, Frankie
Dale Facemire (Desi) of Dille, and Chris Stockwell of
Summersville; 17 great - grandchildren; one great - great -
granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was a
graduate of Widen High School and attended Glenville State
College. He was a brakeman and a mainline motor operator for Elk
River Coal and Lumber Company of Widen for 17 years and then later
for Majestic Mining, near Widen. He once ran as a candidate for
the W.Va. House of Delegates. He was a member of the UMWA. He sold
insurance for People's Life for approximately 15 years, covering
parts of Nicholas, Clay, Braxton, and Webster Counties enabling
him to befriend thousands of folks (he could remember them
all). Bill and his brother, Delano, along with Paul Buck,
Drexel Taylor, and Bill Walker, formed Pilots Quartet, which began
their gospel music ministry in 1966, and traveled extensively to
churches large and small, urban and rural, throughout W.Va. and
neighboring states. They later added Jack Coffman as a member. The
Pilots curtailed their singing around 1982, but still gathered
folks together for a number of Pilots' reunions in later years.
Later, Bill formed Family Ties, a gospel trio with Debbie
Browning, and Sandy Justus. Logan Browning was later added to form
a quartet. Family Ties sang a cappella for many years then Trish
Friend was added as piano accompaniment. They continued to minster
in song and testimony for a number of years. Bill was a very
active and integral member of the Big Union Baptist Church for
most of his life, serving as youth leader, Sunday School teacher,
Sunday School superintendent, trustee, and member of the choir. He
was also a 33rd degree member of the Strange Creek and later,
Summersville Masonic Lodge. One of Bill's most ardent
passions was fishing. From mountain trout streams to W.Va. lakes
and rivers, Bill fished them all. His most adventurous expeditions
were his annual treks to the remote lakes in Canada's Quebec
Province. Beginning in 1975 with Ralph, Terry, and Jerry Legg,
Bill ventured into Canada and in the years that followed, dozens
of family members, relatives, and acquaintances would accompany
him on his annual trips. He was particularly noted for his folksy,
down home colloquialisms, some of which made no sense but added
greatly to the conversation, and some that were actually very
poignant. Bill was devoted to his family and held so precious, the
gathering together of them on many occasions. The party was never
over until he took the opportunity to "sing one before we
leave." He touched so many lives and was an inspiration to
so many. He will be sadly missed but his spirit and love will
remain within the hearts of all those innumerable souls who had
the privilege to know him. Funeral services will be conducted 1
p.m. Friday, January 17, in the Big Union Baptist Church at Dille,
with Pastor Kenneth Adkins officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites
will follow in the Walker Cemetery at Keener's Ridge. Friends may
call at the Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville, W.Va., from 6
